Hello DISers!

I will be at US the first weekend in Nov. 2015. This is the first time we will be staying at US. We will be staying Sat night at either HR or LRP and going to the parks Sat and Sunday. I am staying on-site for the EP and priority seating at the restaurants. I have read before that packages are not always cheaper. So....

Should I book room-only through the US website? Are rates any cheaper if I go through the Loewes website?

Should I buy tickets from UT?

I do not have AAA and don't plan on buying it, so that it out.

Thanks!
~PM

I would buy 1 annual pass for the hotel discount. Loews and the universal site are the same and when you are closer to your dates the aph rates will show up. I just book several months ahead at regular rates and call when the aph rates come out. They will charge a 1 night deposit which will be applied to the total cost at checkout. You get a discount at the gate on tickets with your ap.

Wow! Buying 1 AP will really cost me less in the end rather than paying rack rate and 3 adult tickets from UT?? On the website it says..
Florida Resident Discount Savings $189.99. I am not a Florida resident. Does this mean if I buy an AP right now, I will get the 189 rate? Or will I pay the "crossout rate" of $214.98?

Right now one night (sat night) at LRP is $289. What would it be with an AP?

You pay $214.98 or you can buy the tickets from UT and upgrade to an ap at the gate which I have heard saves ...there's a thread on how to do it if you want to through the trouble it could save a few $.

In the past I've paid as little as $134 per night for 2 adults in Sept but they charge $25 per night for each additional adult.

Where are you looking? Generally you have to put in a code to get the FL rates, and I'm not seeing that sort of rate for the first Saturday night in November.

The AP rate isn't out yet for that time, and *might not come out for that date". So don't buy the AP until you KNOW there's an AP rate. You can book it without the AP, then just show them the AP at some point during your stay. (since it's just one night show it at checkin)

I book here: http://uo.loewshotels.com/en/booking/uo?hotel=UEPBH,UEHRH,UERPR

You can book for a rate you can live with, then change it to an AP rate if one comes out for your intended night.

Here is where I saw the rates for the APs:
https://www.universalorlando.com/Theme-Park-Tickets/Annual-Passes.aspx

I got the rate for the hotel right off of the universal website.

If there is a case there will not be an AP discount for night I am there, I am not going to even bother.

Besides.... I just found out that mt brother-in-law who works for Comcast might be able to get me an awesome discount on the tickets so I may not even worry about saving on the hotel.

please adopt me.
those comcast rates are great.

OK now I understand. I was seeing the word "rate" and thinking you meant hotel rate.

As a non-Floridian, we use this link: https://www.universalorlando.com/Theme-Park-Tickets/Annual-Passes/Non-FL-Annual-Passes.aspx

You wouldn't buy the AP now (for the hotel rate) unless you had absolute plans to go back. You would wait and buy IF it comes up.

If Comcast tickets can be upgraded, you would want to check periodically to see if an AP rate came up, book it if it did, then upgrade that ticket to an AP if it made financial sense. :) (power passes count for the AP rate)
