We just moved to Jacksonville and I'd like to sign up for the Sunday paper for coupons. How do I find the best deal on the paper? In Houston one day they came to the door with an amazing deal it was so easy and perfect. Any suggestions?

In Baltimore, at the local farmers market, I can get a newspaper for $.25. I usually get three. :cool1:

It's not home delivery, but the Dollar Tree has the Sunday newspaper for, you guessed it, a dollar.

You could do what my neighbors do, they wake up before me and steal mine.

You could try calling the paper and see if they're offering a deal to new subscribers.

I looked up the price of a subscription and didn't see any specials. For the Sunday only paper, it is 15.12 for 8 weeks (1.89 per week) and if you subscribe for 52 weeks, it is 91.52 (1.76 per week). This seems like a reasonable amount to me.

It may take a while before they run it in Jax, but I got an annual weekender (thurs thru sun) subscription for our paper in Tampa for less than $20 thru a groupon deal...check them and also living social in your area. good luck!

I would still call and ask if they can do better on the rate. My assistant never pays the going price for her subscription. She always calls when her subscription is ready to lapse and asks for a deal. She usually gets it. I think that papers are so desperate to keep subscribers that they're willing to negotiate with them.

I had a subscription to the Jacksonville paper and when it got more expensive than going to the paper machine to get it I told them no thanks. I had the Sunday only subscription and they couldn't offer me a better deal than going to the machine. Sad isn't it? Very frustrating for me as I came from an area that I had 7 day delivery for a very good price for years. I gave up the convenience of home delivery because why should I pay more for it? Aren't the subscribers the bread and butter of their business? I guess not so much here.

You could be really polite and figure out which neighbors get up the latest, read it and put it back before they get up.

I just recently signed up for the Sunday only LA Times at the OC Fair. They were offering a promo for $13/13 weeks. I got a $10 Target Gift Card and $5 cash back. Final total $0. I was just going to sign up for a deal I got through the mail for $1/week for Th-Sunday but honestly I don't want the Th or Fri. ones so this worked out well.

If you don't find a good subsciption deal, sign up for it and then cancel it after a few weeks or so. They will entice you back with a better offer.

You may not want it, but the best deal may be to get all the days of the week. I get the Washington Post for only $1.89 a week. If I went to just Sunday, I bet it would cost more.

When we moved back, I would go and buy it from the store. Then about six months after being here, I think we received something in the mail about a year for $50 or $52, weekly, not just weekends or Sundays. It was cheaper than just Sunday paper from the store.

We were able to renew at that price for about three or four years. This year it finally went up, to $65 for the year.

So I would definitely call the newspaper and see if they are running anything that was unadvertised.
