cheapest way to buy annual pass (DVC)

If that's the case and I purchased an 8 day park hopper through Disney as part of my package, but won't be traveling to September, would my ticket be worth what I paid or the increased price come September?

Notwithstanding the discussion right above, if you used the ticket once, it will be bridged to the current gate value of the ticket on that day. So if prices go up in August, it would be valued at the new price if you use it/upgrade it after the price increase.

Thanks, I didn't know if that applied to tickets purchased through Disney or just the discounted tickets. It's about 102 degrees here and my brain is quite foggy. :surfweb:

I work in Disney ticketing too, and we bridge all the time for tickets like AAA tickets all the time, without them being used. No fights with managers needed. Disney is happy to have people upgrade their tickets. You just have to make sure the ticket knows it was a discounted ticket and needs to be brought to gate price.

Natalie -

Keep in mind that WDW media often experiences a price increase in early August. If your plans include a visit to WDW before the price change -- stop reading now. If your next WDW visit, like mine, is beyond early August ... keep in mind that the increase in AP pricing may erode some of your savings. Might want to weigh that into your calculations.

For me, I think I'll simply buy a DVC AP voucher online before the (traditional) rate increase ... vs buying the discounted Hoppers to use for later upgrade against a yet-to-be-announced AP rate.

Our trip is in Oct. So it sounds like I would get the most savings by purchasing the DVC AP now - before the price increase. No need to go through the mousesavers email. Is that right?

Yes, I am wondering too about all this too. Here is our senario: We had booked a MYW at WL for this Sept. We just bought into DVC. Can we upgrade our tickets that were 6 day (no hoppers) to an AP with DVC discount? Or would just refunding that and buying an DVC AP be better?

I would do that ,get the DVC AP now (you can do that online their used to be a link on the DVC site):goodvibesyou get a voucher (I get it sent on line) and then you turn it in in OCT and that will be the date on the AP and good for a year.

This is the simple way, but not necessarily the biggest savings. Using the special Undercover Tourist link by becoming a Mousesavers.com subscriber now, holding that media until your post Aug. 1 trip and then upgrading to an AP is likely the best savings.

Your discounted ticket will take the new post Aug. 1 gate price and while the AP will likely go up in price, too, you'll likely get that back in the gate price increase your ticket will be worth.

We saved $125 on 2 adult APs and 1 child AP doing this last year. We bought hoppers before the increase, used them 1 time after the increase (in November) and then upgraded. Worked like a charm. (except for the part where the CM tried to charge me $200+ instead of the $51 I should have paid for the upgrade - but I straightened him out)

Oh my...

I apologize in advance for my lack of comprehension right now...but I am confused.:headache:

So, if I wanted to buy me and DBF annual passes:

DVC cost - $389/ea

WDW cost - $489/ea

UCT - would I use the closest cost to the DVC or the WDW cost? And how do I apply that and how much would I be spending/saving?

You're not Tony Soprano are you - I see you're from New York. ;)

You need to purchase the ticket closest to $389 without going over, but of the type of AP you want. If you don't want the premiere pass (water parks, etc.) then don't by a MYW ticke with water parks and more. If the retail value of the discount ticket your purchase is more than the AP, you won't get money back.

I'm waiting to hopefully find out what the new price will be for AP's if prices are going to go up a day or so ahead to buy the best discount ticket that won't go over that new AP price.

I thought the 6-day park-hopper was the biggest discoun without going over for the DVC priced AP, but dont' quote me on that - just search the forum for the answer.

No, I just live in NY. I'm *from* Alabama. It was the nicest possible straightening out you could possibly imagine. ;)

So I would check out the costs closest to an AP on the WDW site and then buy that option from UT, use it once and trade up to AP?

I know I have to be looking at this incorrectly because it appears that UT is a bit more than WDW. :headache:

WDW 6 day PH w/ no exp = $367
UCT 6 day PH w/ no exp = $371.95

The prices on Disney's website are pre-tax. UCT prices include tax.

Thanks for hanging in there with me...

IF I figured it out correctly, (and thats a BIG IF), this is what the savings would look like:

Buy a 6 day PH w/ no expire from UTC = 371.95
Turn it in for a credit of WDW cost = 390.86
Use that credit towards a DVC AP = 414.29

414.29 - 390.86 = 23.42 to pay balance for DVC
added to the original cost to UCT 23.42 + 371.95 = 395.38

Ultimate Savings - 414.29- 390.86 = 18.91

Is this correct?

Your savings is the difference between the UT ticket price and the WDW ticket price, so it is what you posted, your way just looked complicated!

Umm.... Tony Soprano was from New Jersey! :rotfl:

I couldn't think of a good NY'er to spit out though... I'll also blame not having HBO :rotfl:

None the less, a New Yorker's "straightening out" could be scary...

Just kidding all, but has anyone gotten confirmation on a price increase yet? I have plans to buy some tickets tomorrow if so.
