What are my options for bigger families? Last trip there were 5 of us and we stayed in a room with a murphy bed at CBR. LOVED IT! This trip may be one more family member. What are our options that won't cost an arm and a leg?

Your cheapest option, if you have to be in the same room, will most likely be a family suite at ASMu. If you are willing to risk not getting connecting rooms, two rooms at a value may come out cheaper.

Would they guarantee connecting rooms if they were all kids? I would be bringing 5 kids with myself.

People here will say there's no guarantees, but I do it every year and yes, they will guarantee it when the ratio of kids is more than adults. It will say guaranteed connecting on your reservation.
I would get the 2 rooms.

Great, thanks so much! :)

Please be aware that connecting rooms are never guaranteed. It will say guaranteed on the reservation, but it really isn't. I would say your chances are good that you'll get connecting rooms because of your situation though.

however - I think you still need 1 adult per room - so with only 1 adult and 5 kids - they may not let you rent 2 rooms

What ages are the kids? If any are under three you can still stay in a 5 person room at CBR. Sounds a bit chaotic to me, but it is allowed and likely the cheapest.

There is NO GUARANTEE for connecting rooms. Even if it says guaranteed on your confirmation. Even if the CM on the phone tells you it is guaranteed. They can not and do not. There are many, many reports here on the DIS from folks, including those with minor kids, that they would have guaranteed rooms and when they arrived they did not.
And I agree I don't think they will even let you book 2 rooms unless there is someone over 18 to stay in each room. Your best bet is a All Stars family suite that sleeps 6

Thanks all! I say 5 kids but my oldest daughter will be 18 then so is technically an "adult". Our youngest wouldn't be young enough for CBR unfortunately. Thanks again everyone. Leaning towards the suite but our budget is really tight.

They will indeed let 1 adult rent 2 rooms with only minor children. Someone here called and did it just a week or so back.

Now, I know all the experts here say it's impossible and say it's never guaranteed to get connecting rooms but it is possible to book. And seeing how Disney is not going to put minors in a room all alone, they are bound to make these particular stays connecting rooms. There has to be a way for it to work. That or there are minors in rooms with no adults around. I guess that's possible but I just doubt it myself.

I agree.

disney does not want unsupervised children in any room. If you are the only adult - you can get 2 rooms connecting - not sure if your 18 year old child counts as an adult for being in a room alone with her sibling or not. if they do then it is not guaranteed. You won't know until you call WDW and try to do this
