Hi;
My friend and her family would like to stay onsite, but they would like to stay in the cheaper, 2 bed room. Is it possible to do this, or will they need to book the suite? They are buying the disney dining as well, not sure if this makes a difference.

I don't know if they would want to do this but you can stay 5 in POR. We did this November '11 and it was a tighter fit but it was me, DH, and 3 teenage DD's. I honestly didn't have a problem with it. My youngest DD was 5 ft tall and fit just fine. We spend most of our time at the parks and it was w/ free dining. I would do it again :).

The cheapest option that has 2 separate sleeping areas is a family suite at the All Star Music. One bedroom with a queen bed, and then fold outs in the living room area.

Trust me, as a family of 5, POR is the CHEAPEST. does it have as much room ad a family suite, no way. But price....its the cheapest. Its a wonderful resort, heading there in 2 weeks.

One room at POR is the cheapest. But then you only have one bathroom, and one sleeping area. For my family, the extra space of the family suite was well worth the extra 40ish dollars a night.

If one of your family is too big to sleep in the trundle bed at POR then it is really cramped. Plus you only have one bathroom. The cheapest way for a family of 5, is to get 2 rooms at a value. It is cheaper than the familiy suites at ASM. We get connecting rooms at the Pop and it works out the cheapest I have found. One of the All Stars may be a couple dollars cheaper, but hardly at all. And I prefer the Pop.

Art of Animation family suites are way more than ASM family suites, and also more expensive for 2 rooms than the Pop or All Stars.

That has changed a little. Now sometimes 2 rooms cost a tiny bit more than a family suite. You really have to check dates. Another thing to consider is that the family suites are all in the preferred location of ASMu. If you don't need the preferred location 2 rooms are usually cheaper. If you want the preferred location a family suite is usually cheaper than 2 rooms.
