I want to start thinking about actually booking our cruise but I don't know if one place is better then another, or are they all the same price?

When booking our cruise last month, I checked with CostCo, DU, MouseEars, Cruise.com, and one or two others whose name I don't recall. For us, the least expensive alternative ended up being with CostCo. My best suggestion is to check with TA's that you feel are trustworthy (i.e. see on the boards) and get them all to quote you for the cruise you want to try.

But, there is one thing to be aware of when requesting quotes. Not all TA's quote the same "amenities." What I mean is that when you go through DCL's web site (which would be the first place I check), they quote including cruise insurance and ground transfers. If you need these things, let each TA that you request a quote from know that fact. If you don't, take them off the DCL price online, and let the TA know that you do not want transfers and insurance. This will ensure that you are comparing apples to apples.

Have fun and try and enjoy the process!

I echo what TiggerKing said. Comparing 'apples to apples' is very important. Make sure you ask them to either include or exclude what is important to you. With that said, we booked with Costco travel. Hold times can be a little long at times but they've always been very friendly and helpful. Good luck!!

Do you have to be a member to book with Costco Travel and do they have a website?

A friend called me today and said she found an advert. in the back of familey fun for disney cruise, i got mine out and it says. Disney cruise discounts all major cruise lines. WE BEAT ALL PRICES! /Disney apecials! Book early and save. call cruise planners and save. If anyone wants the name, 866 number or web add. pm me as i'm new and not sure what we can post about other bus. as i have read we can post somethings but not others. So i wouldn't want to get a post pulled.

This is Aisling, on my son's username:D ...

I got quotes from Dreams Unlimited, All Seas, Mouse Ears, Our Laughing Place, Small World, mycruisevalue.com, Costco, and a couple of others I don't even remember. Costco gave me the best price, a full $700 less than all the others, except for mycruisevalue.com, which was $80 less than Costco. I've heard a few horror stories with mycruisevalues.com, so I went with Costco and booked.

I emailed micdan for a quote, since they were mentioned here, and also because I saw their ad in the Disney Magazine, but I never recieved a reply.

I'd say, check with Costco. Even if I weren't a member, it woukld be worth it to me to spend $60 in order to save $700!

Remember, there is something to the concept of "you get what you pay for." If you are a "frequent flyer" on DCL or at WDW and know exactly what you want, by all means go for a discount TA. If you are new to cruising, you might be more comfortable with a face-to-face agent who specializes in Disney. Many large agencies have people who concentrate in a particular area.

All said, you will get a lot more accurate, important info here than from many TAs......

I am definately glad I found this board.. it has already helped me so much, otherwise I may not have even shopped around for a good price, just assuming they were all the same!!! We don't have a Costco around here that is real convenient for me to use so I almost hate to spend the membership fee just to get the travel discount without knowing for sure that I would save with them. I guess I could post a thread and ask for a costco member to tell me what kind of quote they got around the time I may want to go to see if it would be worth it for me. Someone said that they won't even talk to you about travel unless you are a member first...

Unfortunately- you have to be a Costco member to get a quote- The membership fee is $45. I joined for the DCL savings. My closest Costco is 1/2 hour away so I don't get there often but I do like the store. Try and find a friend who will let you use their membership # to get a quote.
I saved $335 from the Allseas price on a 4 night cruise.
The customer service is good at Costco- once you get through.
