cheapest place for halloween decorations

Google halloween decor images. If you click on the image you like often they will tell you where they purchased them from. This will give you lots of ideas, most of them are DIY items. As far as places Dollar Tree has plenty of items. Wal-Mart and Target usually have a nice selection. Also, visit your local thrift store see what items they have. A can of black spray paint and some thrift store items make nice decorations. Hopefully more people will reply as I love to decorate for the holidays and love new ideas.

I get the majority of mine at Walmart and the Dollar Store.

I also make a lot of my decorations too... when you factor in the cost of my time, it's not the cheapest option but I like crafting & they tend to last longer & hold up better than the cheap stuff I get at the Dollar Store & Walmart.

DollarTree! They have great Halloween and Christmas decorations. I have collected a lot of holiday stuff from there in the last 5 years. Some of it is cheap and flimsy, but some of it is really nice stuff, which has lasted!

If you are going for creepy outdoor ideas,
go to Home Depot or Lowes, get a 6 or 8 foot sheet of styrofoam insulation. Ask the mill department to cut the sheet down for you if your car isn't large enough to carry it home. Cut out tombstone/headstone/cross shapes, paint them grey,( if you have leftover paint from anything mix them together and add a little black...thats what I did) paint sayings on them...get dowel rods from Hobby Lobby cheap, hammer the dowel rod about 4-6 inches into the ground. You can then either duct tape the headstone to the dowel rod or put the base of the headstone directing into the rod...whichever you prefer. I set them kinda crooked, chip some parts off etc, getthe $1 spider webbing and pull it over the headstones to your bushes etc. Instant cemetary for about $8-10. Stuff old clothes and old masks to make Zombies coming out of the ground, any cheap plastic fencing can also *** to the look. Just have fun with whatever you chose!

Woohoo... it's time to bust out the Halloween Decor!! :woohoo:

This is our second Halloween in our first house. I wasn't thrilled with how I decorated last year, so I'm going to try something different this year.

My plan is to have two different scenes on my front lawn, divided by the sidewalk up to the front door. On one side will be my graveyard. I have a lot of stuff I've accumulated over the years, but i'd like to add without spending a lot of $$. I have some scrap wood in my garage that i'm going to cut into tombstones and then paint them. I may splurge for some "stone" colored paint. If I need more tombstones I will look into using the styrofoam... my one concern with the styrofoam is that it is very light and in October here we get alot of windstorms, and i've lost several tombstones (that were secured into the ground with wooden dowels) in the past to wind... :rotfl2:

The other section will require a lot more work. I want to create a pumpkin patch. I am on the lookout for cheap plastic pumpkins I can strew about the lawn. I was also thinking of finding orange-colored plastic bags and filling them with leaves and grass clippings. Trying to go for a variety of sizes. Then if I can somehow manage some pumpkin vines... that would be awesome, but not a necessity. Lastly in this scene, my goal is to create some wooden cutouts of Charlie Brown and the gang from "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" and stake them into the ground in the patch.

I have a few more ideas that involve adding sound effects on both sides to put it over the top, but I need to prioritize.

My plan is to first deck the front of the house with our lights and light the walkway with lighted pumpkin stakes that I already have. I plan to do that this weekend.

I want to hold off on putting out all the lawn decorations until mid-October. So I can still mow the lawn. :lmao: And I'll save some of the more over-the-top stuff for just before halloween to minimize losing the more expensive or fragile items to storm damage or even theft.

It sounds like soooo much to do. I'd love to hear any thoughts, comments, suggestions.

Happy Halloween Everyone!!
