Cheapest day for Amtrak?

I know plane tickets are cheaper on certain days of the week, is it the same for Amtrak tickets? I am planning a trip for summer 2012; booking is not available yet, but I tried some days for this summer and do not notice a pattern. There can be a substantial difference from one day or week to another, but I'm not sure why. My dates are flexible, so I want to book the cheapest time. Thanks in advance

The key to Amtrak booking is early booking. If you can book the first day that tickets are available, you will get the cheapest tickets possible.

They do tier booking....as the train fills up, the higher the prices go...best is to book when you are allowed as far out as possible....

Waiting till closer to trip time.....bigger increases.....never found it any cheaper on day of the week to another....when we book our trip to WDW, next day we call Amtrak and book....
