hi,

what are the cheapest on property rates right now?? i called and got the all star for $77 plus tax...what do you think?

Thanks,wendy

The cheapest that I have seen is $84 plus tax - how did you get $77?:) Are you going soon?

$77 is the list price during value season which runs through Mid February. There are some discounts available right now including disney club which I think is 20% off or around $62 per night.(I know you can renew/extend a membership right now(it ends forever this december) but I don't know if you can join, so that may be out.

AP(anual pass) rates which look like they are still available are a very good $49 right now. about a 31 dollar per night savings (including tax)

Other than that it looks like most codes have expired unless you will be arriving after 2/17/03

How long are you staying, and how many rooms?

We are paying just under $55 a night at ASMu, including tax. (AP rate)
As with the norm lately, ASMo wasn't offering a discounted room rate.

You might want to call and recheck. I just called and added a second room to my AP (Jan 24), and was offered Movies. I didn't take it, since it's too loud for me..we'll be going to the old folks All Stars..Music!

Hmm, this might help me make up my mind whether or not to get a 7 day park hopper (and use additional days leftover on past park hoppers) or get an AP.
I have been thinking about staying offsite simply because I'm going solo this trip and won't use the hotel room much and just want to save as much as possible so dear husband won't have a conniption fit about me going on this trip alone. LOL
However..... the rate I have found is not THAT much less than what has been quoted here for ASMu with AP discount! Since I don't have to have the AP yet (right?) I can call and get the AP discount?!? I think I am understanding that correctly.
So how do I contact them to book a room with AP discount? I only know how to book rooms at ASMu online. I will do some searching tonight for a phone number to call.

Those of you that have stayed offsite and also have stayed at times onsite (ie: have done both)- is it really THAT much worth it to go pay more and stay in a WDW resort if you are going solo and won't spend much time in the hotel? If so, what would you consider the biggest benefits of this?
Would staying at ASMu mean that I wouldn't have to rent a car while there? Is it really that easy to use their transportation to and from the parks? What about if you stay there and want to go to Universal studios one day? Will it cost a lot for transportation to do so?
Do you get the extra hour early in the morning (on those certain days) because of staying at ASMu?
Do you also get the fastpass thing where you don't have to actually get a fast pass for every ride? Or is that a benefit of having an AP? I'm lost on that one. Can't remember what I read but somewhere I thought it was mentioned (either with an AP or staying onsite at one of the WDW resorts) that you get to get in fastpass lanes even without fastpasses?

Help me decide!!!! :)

I've only been to WDW once. We stayed at Sports for $49.00.
The transportation was excellent! The great thing about staying at All Stars, is that you get all the perks of being on site. All of Disney resorts take part in EE.

Fastpass is open to all park guest. It doesn't matter what type of pass you use or if you stay on or off site.

If you don't want to rent a car, you can use Mears to get to Universal. It's only $12pp round trip.

I called and was told $77 for ASMu for a one night stay on Jan 12; I then asked if there were any current specials, the cm I was speaking with checked and foud a deal for only $55 a night.

I don't know how common this is, but it never hurts to ask, and I just booked it last week.

Hi disneyjunkie- thanks for the info!
All of Disney resorts take part in EE.
Are you referring to the extra magic hour where resort guests can come in an hour early on certain days for certain parks? Or do disney resort guests get to come in an extra hour early every day at any park?

Also, if you don't mind answering another question if possible: I noticed on another website they said that the fastpass thing is only going to be working on peak business days at WDW? Is that true? Will they only have fastpass going during their busiest times of the year?
I ask because I'm purposely trying to go before the peak season starts because we went during the holiday season recently and I'd prefer to try for a little less busy time. But it might totally negate my efforts if they then don't have the fastpass going. I'll end up waiting in (standby) line just as long (if not longer) for rides as I would have during peak season using fastpasses!

Do you know if that is true?

Each day one park opens a hour early for site guest.

Sunday MK
Monday MGM
Tuesday AK
Wednesday Epcot
Thursday MK
Friday AK
Saturday MGM

FP can be used year round.

Thanks for the info! I have booked ASMu for 19th thru 28th. :)

(oh and btw in case anyone is wondering- the AP rate was $54.88 incl. tax/etc per night during this stay. What a bargain!)

FWIW, Fast Pass does shut down when the crowds are lower (off season). I have seen the FP kiosks closed when the standby wait time is minimal. Why? Because otherwise they need to staff the FP line for people who don't "get" how to put thier pass in the slot ... or to clear the slot from the previous idoit who stuffed their invaild FP (they tried to get it too soon) into the pass slot .

FWIW, If I were staying alone ... I would go with the Disney Resort. It gives you a lot more time to hang out and enjoy the theming. Plus, if you're like me, you can take the bus transportation and chat with other families :D.

Okay- shut down because of mimimal standby lines is one thing- shut down just because it's supposedly the "off-season" (but might still be kinda busy if everyone in the world decides to try WDW when it's not supposed to be as busy. Trust me.. with my luck that very scenario would happen. LOL) is totally another thing.

To me if the lines are minimal- I don't care how that happens. Either just because (standby lines not long) or because of fastpasses. My only fear is that if they shut down FP only because it's the off season and then it ends up being pretty busy with longer wait lines than would be if there had been fastpass lines.

What I'm saying is that if the line is around 20min or less (what we experienced in the fastpass lines on our last trip) I'm fine with that. But if FP is just shut down and they experience busy days while I'm there and the lines are long and I have no choice but stand in line upwards of an hour or more... I'm going to be a very unhappy camper. :(

The Sybah Shelstah..if that's in January..we'll see you there. Same rate, same resort..almost the same times (21-28). I'll be wearing a button that says Disboards with a green ribbon printed on it. For a short time, it will show up in my posts..be sure to look for it!
Doris

No way! Will the cute kid in your pic be with you? If so, you wouldn't even need the pin... I'd recognize that cutey! ;)

Yes, that is in Jan- coming in late the 19th (very late flight) and leaving early evening on the 28th! ASMu although I haven't a clue what room and all that. I suppose I should have asked that huh? I mean they have 3 differently themed "hotels" in ASMu don't they? Oops... I probably should call about that. HAHA

In any case- wow! We will be there about the same times exactly! I have to find a lime green ribbon (or something like that- right? where'd you get that button? hehe) so you can recognize me also! That would be way cool to see you and know you are from this board. :)

I made the button (I have a button biz). That cutie is my grandson..and he ate that (well a lot of it) Kitchen sink all by himself. He talked of nothing but that for days. My hubby and I are going solo for a change (no grands), and meeting an online friend and her daughter for the weekend (we've met before). We'll be in Music (although you can pay extra for preferred view and request a certain building..you won't know til you get there where you'll be for sure), somewhere. If I get a chance to scan my button, I'll post it, so you'll know what to look for. I wore it for four trips last year, and other than a planned meeting with Mary from Mousesavers, I've never run into a disboard person.

When we were there this time last year the crowds were very low. We however saw fast-pass refect the amount of people there at any given time. For example if the stand-by line was less than 15 minutes, fastpass was not working, if it got any longer, which was rare, they started up fast-pass. They also had it running when space mountain and thunder mountain were down for a problem. They were giving out the passes to come back later. SM was only down a couple minutes so we saved our pass to later that Pm when the line was like 15 minutes. On Thunder mountain, the down time was longer and it did create a standby line . WE used our FP then. That was the only time it was even worth getting.

Don't forget AAA for ASMo. This same trip we had a 60.61 rate for the resort. Pretty good for a non AP rate.

Jordan's mom

We'll be in ASMovies Jan 17th-24th with an AP rate of $49! Can't wait :)

We got the 55.00 per night rate 2/11-18. Last minute trip and
very cheap too. Free plane tickets (got bumped last time), left over connection vouchers, a few extra days on passes. Mom is passing this time so it is just me and our 8 year old. And we are going to order the Kitchen sink since there will be no one there to tell us "no". Yippee!

I'd love to see the button! (and do you sell them? Because if you do- I'd love to buy one from you while there if possible? Just for my WDW souvenier collection and to use in the future trips to WDW. :) Thought I'd ask since you said you have a button biz!)

Oh wait! I see it there in your sig line!! I will be on the lookout for it since I obviously won't be able to just look for the cutey grandson! I'm kinda glad he won't be going. Seeing him would probably make me homesick for my own little cutey pie (son) and that would not be good. LOL

I hope I see you there!

Oh and btw... where exactly IS the place to get the "kitchen sink". I'm not saying I would get it and eat it all or anything like that, you understand, just for curiosity sakes. Yeah... that's it... that's the ticket!..... *looks around to make sure no one saw me ask about the kitchen sink* LOL
