I haven't booked airfare in some time since we have taken to driving, but going back to flying maybe for our upcoming trip. What's the cheapest. Newark or Philly would be closest but if we had to, we'd consider Atlantic City but only if our savings was enough to cover a hotel stay the night before, which probably wouldn't be!

airfares bounce around like a yo-yo. It depends when you want to travel, when you book, etc. Usually the best deals can be booked mid-week, but that isn't always the case. When I'm shopping for airfares, I check daily. A few web sites to use:

www.southwest.com for flights from PHL and BWI. You can also make connections on them from LGA and EWR.

www.kayak.com, a good search engine which searches a lot of airlines

www.orbitz.com, a good site for comparison shopping.

Good luck!

Just ready your question a bit closer. Are you looking for airfare on Thanksgiving? That's less than 2 weeks away. Looking at Southwest PHL - MCO, it is $315 per person to get there, but only $109 to get back on December 1st. You would have done a lot better if you hadn't waited until the last minute to book airfare.

Search some of the other sites as well.

No I am looking for September 2012

I booked on Thursday morning with continental out of Newark for the last week of Aug 21 - Aug 28 Tues - Tues. I watched the days since it was first available. The morning flights went as high as $262 and on Thursday fell to $170. I booked it at $170.00 with continental. I could have got it $10 cheaper each ticket but wanted late morning departure instead of early morning or late afternoon( grumpy early birds in AM, navigating Newark Airport after 4:00pm...no thanks!). Wednesday and Thursdays posted the cheapest prices this month. Good luck....I also needed reserved seating because my middle DS7 is autistic and we have to sit together so booking early is a must!;)

We are right between AC and Philly and always fly SW out of Philly. I like the idea that I can change the tickets whenever needed and of course no bag fees. We usually pay about $100 each way, plus parking. Most times I can get a fare for $85 each way, but then again sometimes I have to travel at specific times/days and will pay up to $130 one way.

Philly always has the better deals
I have to fly from Newark and when I book early I can find $89-99 one way
When I book for my family that is in Philly, they usually fly on Air Tran or US Air for $79 one way

Depending on where you live in Jersey..... If you live north or central Jersey consider White Plains Airport. You may get lucky. :thumbsup2

I have flown Southwest PHL - MCO a few times and can get tix usually for right around $100 each way.
