Cheapest Airfare from NYC

In October I will take my first airplane trip EVER! Seeing as I am a Grandma it's a big deal. The free food convinced me to take an extra trip and oh well the train takes too long! The time has come!
Navigating airlines is new to me though. What's the best fare you guys/gals are seeing for early October? Thanks for all your help!

If you're flying out of JFK look for Song or Jet Blue. Both are currently at $89.00. I think Spirit is cheaper out of LGA. But Song is part of ME so from the time you leave NYC to the time you return you hardly have to worry about your luggage. Also I am expecting a better experience then I had with Spirit which is just AHHH. With Jet Blue and Song you get a TV at every seat. We'll being flying Song out of JFK in Dec. And thanks to post we'll be utilizing ParkSleepFly.com which gets you a room near the airport and parking for the week at a reasonable cost thus you don't have to worry about traffic. We have an 8:00 Am flight so it will be a nice way to start our trip.

american airlines had a fare of $126 ROUND TRIP in June, they might have that again at some point. i believe it was out of LGA, and was a nonstop flight too!

I would try jetblue as well. We are using them and from my expirence that I would book now. I see that the prices go up as the weeks go on. I book for the 4 of us 2 weeks ago for $621. round trip. As of yesterday the price is $741. That is a big difference.

I booked my flights on Song in January and basically stole them for $59 each way! I like Jet Blue, but JFK is such a pain in the A$$ to get to! (I am in Westchester). With Song, I fly out of LGA at 6:30 AM and come home from MCO at 8:30. Not losing a day for travel!

You cannot go wrong with JetBlue or Song! They are both excellent! They will definitely run deals around end of july/august!

I have booked the $59 each way on Song my last 2 trips, and again this Sept/Oct. The 1st 2 times out of JFK, the coming trp was LGA. Out of central NJ, it is not bad to get out there via the outer bridge. A shame Newark fares are so high though. I have also used Jet Blue; Jet Blue = Song, both GREAT.

I just booked Jet Blue out of JFK (they also now leave from LGA I believe) for September. I used them before and was very impressed with the way they handle things. This trip is $79.00 going down and $69.00 coming back. Everything done on the website. Took 5 minutes. Very easy!

We're close to Newark, but we're leaving out of LGA this October. Got a fare of $118 roundtrip on American Airlines. Very cool.

Wow. I thought my $79 was good last October. that same flight is up to $169 now.

I'm from Westchester County too. I actually prefer JFK.
