It really depends on what size the package is and when it is being shipped from & to. I mostly use USPS for my smaller boxes and take advantage of their flat rate envelope ($3.85) and boxes ($7.70) for Priority Mail. If you are considering shipping a larger box or bigger package check out both UPS and FedEx, my second choice for shipping is FedEx.
If your package is over 2 pounds, then I find FedEx to be much cheaper than the USPS. Insurance & tracking are also included in the price! UPS tends to be inbetween FE & USPS in cost.
You really need to use the calculators on the websites. I have found USPS to be cheaper than UPS on many things and was really surprised. UPS fee does include $100.00 of insurance if I'm not mistaken. We have no UPS around here and have to pay an additional fee to UPS from other places so I seldom do it.
Yes it does and also constant tracking. USPS offers insurance and tracking for a fee, but the only way to get constant tracking (not just delivery confirmation) through USPS is with Express Mail.
We're going to ship so things to DVC for our Christmas stay and we're using FedEx. They seem to be much better priced; plus, we'll be able to ship out box back home right fronm the hotel front desk.
