Cheap rate is pulling me over to the other side!

I just got an e-mail with Disney Value resort rates for $82/night. Currently we are planning a split stay, on and offsite(see my siggy for info). The rate we have for Doubletree DTD is $109/night. But, that includes a King sized bed and a 2 room suite, fridge, microwave, full free breakfast, etc. I've never even seen a Disney Value resort, but we could save a good little chunk of cash. Talk me back into Doubletree!

What about the Buena Vista Suites? The ad at the top of the page says they have 2 room suites starting at just $78 a night. The Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista has also gotten good reviews, with rooms starting at $60 a night. Or you could rent a condo-2-3 bedrooms, 2 baths, for around $50-75 a night depending on which neighborhood or complex it's in. Even with just 2 of us, a condo is cheaper than any reputable hotel I looked into! So...I would pick neither!

I love your screenname! I teach 2nd grade! Can you tell me where you can find a good 2 or 3 br condo for $50 - $75? We are looking for somewhere to stay for two nights before a cruise in August. We will be taking our 2 year old son to Disney for the first time.

I always stay off site, usually in a villa, and prefer having more room and my own kitchen, washer and dryer... But since you are staying on site for part of your trip anyway, I think I would stay at the on site value resort. If you are flying, you can save money by using DME to get to your hotel and put that money towards the extra money you will be spending on breakfast... Even if you will have your own car and aren't saving money on a car rental, you are saving $27/nt staying on site. My only other thought is that if you were planning on staying off site for 7 nights maybe you should look into a townhouse or condo. For the same price as the Double Tree, you could get a really nice town home, condo or possibly a full house. It might be fun to try that out!

I had good luck finding condos on vrbo.com and vacationrentals.com . The Grand Palms and Villas at Island Club complexes are pretty affordable as condos go. Most I looked at there were $55-70 nightly. For that rate, you usually are renting from an owner.

Well, you'll be soooooo glad to see that king size bed!

We booked 2 connecting rooms at POP for our Christmas trip with our 2 kids, and my parents, kids slept in with my parents after the first night...because DH and I just couldn't sleep in a double bed together!! LOL!

You're onsite for the first part - enjoy...then move to the haven of larger rooms and bigger beds!! Worth the extra $$, IMHO

109-82 is 27, plus tax is about $30. You get free breakfast for four at doubletree, but don't have to pay for parking at a Value. Full breakfast is probably $5 per person, parking is $10 per day, so now you are only saving $20 per day.

For $20 per day, you have a second room to be in while your daughters are falling asleep. $20 is not worth me having to pretend to be asleep for an hour while my kids nod off.

I've stayed there. Decided to not stay at POR the time I booked DTS. It was a pretty nice place. The freshly baked chocolate chip cookies at checkin were a pretty good welcoming! LOL.

It's not a bad location either. I was able to easily walk to DTD from there or Crossroads.

The space alone is worth the switch to DTS. Unless your rate at All Stars is wicked low, then go with the larger, more accomodating DTS.

Uh-oh! Be careful, once you start staying in condos in Orlando, you'll find yourself returning every year and maybe not stepping foot on Disney property! This is what happened to us. Condos can be had for so little $$. Before you know it, you'll skip the parks and just hang around the resort. Maybe a dinner show, a Disney waterpark, Gatorland. Take a drive to Cocoa Beach, or not. Do a little shopping, or not. Ho hum, maybe just lay by the pool today. Condo's are the way to go. And then, theres all those yummy restaurants where you can take you food home in a box and warm it up in your oven or micro the next day! We still do Disney once in a while, in fact- this October we're going to take our DGD but annually we go to just condo it and kick back!! For us, we could never do a standard room again. Even if it were on Disney property (and I do LOVE Disney).
