Just booking 20 nights from 12 december 09 to 1 Jan 2010, All Star Movies, Full size car and full insurance, 2 adults and 2 teens with Virgin Holidays.....£3129.00! Price quoted is cheaper than new brochure that came through my door yesterday.

Book thru Quidco or rpoints.com and you will get 3% cashback so almost another £100 off. also book car separate and I am sure you can save more.

I've thought about booking the car separately as the Dollar cars you get through Virgin always seem to be a bit tatty. Having seen the queues for all the other car rental desks at Orlando airport compared to the Virgin/Dollar desk where I've always just walked straight up to the desk and got my car, I'd rather pay a few quid more for the convenience. As a frequent virgin I get a free upgrade and 10% off anyway. I'll definately look into Quidco though...thanks!

Just compare the car with USrentacar before you book, our booking for August 24 nights, even with our 10% and free upgrade Virgin wanted £700 for full size with Platinum cover, USrentacar was £450, still with Dollar and you can register free at Dollar.com for express card that lets you walk right to the front of line, used it 4 times now and saved over 3 hours. You choice but I would never give Virgin my car booking again.

Forgot to say used my express card 4 times in Orlando, once in Los Angeles and once in Vegas, been upgraded to Luxury 3 times out of the 6, the other 3 have had delivery milage only. I am convinced express card holders get the best cars.

That's a lot of money from Virgin. Full size car and fully inclusive insurance for 20 nights is £415 from virgin, less 10% = £373.50 for December 2009. I'll take a look at USrentacar though. Thanks once again.
Virgin seem to have slashed their brochure prices at the moment. Comparing actual prices online or by phone, our holiday is almost £700 cheaper than the new brochure price. No supplements added for ASM, no peak time supplements added and the kids and adult prices come out cheaper than brochure too.

It is a long time since I priced up for this August's car hire, maybe they have realised so many booking seperate and cut prices.
Have you stayed in value resort before? We stayed in ASM 8 years ago at Xmas, not stayed onsite since. It was not for us but many like the values. Is it a lot more to stay at POR? We prefer offsite to Value.

We've stayed at ASM's twice before and loved it. Had 3 weeks there last Christmas. We like the convenience of staying onsite. Having the charge card and items you buy being sent to your room is something we like. We like the extra magic hours too. Spend the day by the pool if it's a hot day and head off to the park with the extra 3 magic hours in the evening. Just seems a bit more magical being onsite, especially at Christmas.

Thats what most feel about it, just not us. We found it overcrowded and rooms too small and basic but none of like shopping, don't do EMH's or use pool and we certainly didn't feel the onsite magic people talk about. We are trying POR in August for 3 nights see if we like there, hoping it was just Value resorts we didn't like. Can't all like same things:goodvibes

I think thats a great price-have you actually booked it yet?I would'nt wait around too long.
I was worried that by me booking Dec 2007 for our April 2009 holiday that the prices may have gone down-which very often happens-but the cost of our holiday in the new brochure-inc the fly drive works out about £400 more.x.

If everyone liked the same thing then it would be a very dull world! Hope you have a good time at POR.

I've been quoted on the phone by the frequent virgin club and they'll hold that quote for 3 days. Just waiting for wife to check hols at work and should be booking it tonight....gives us plenty of time to save up!!!

Thats good,i only got 24hrs hold on mine, let us all know how you get on+don't forget to add a ticker. We have a while to save now+it does seem to go round pretty quick. As i said we booked on Dec 27th+were in April already.x.

I've always just walked straight up to the desk and got my car

You must have been lucky, last time it took me over an hour to get my car using the regular line. When I got back I got the Dollar Express card so hopefully that will save me some time.

I am convinced express card holders get the best cars.

I hope so now I've got one.

Hey Wayne...........Stop pushing the Express card so much!
Soon this queue will be longer than the regular lines :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
:rotfl: :lmao:

We used the express card at MCO a few weeks back, was much longer than usual with three groups in front of us. Still not as bad as the regular desks, though it is heading that way!

When you get fed up with Dollar Express you could give Hertz #1 Gold a try. It costs to join (I have no idea because I have it through my employer). At most "Gold rental locations" you just see you name on a board, walk to the car and present your drivers license on the way out of the car park. Sanford isn't that clever - but I was the only renter so the formalities took minutes to complete.
I expect MCO is a gold location.

This is a total revelation compared with the regular rental line at PDX, where I do most of my renting. It always took ages to collect the car. This appeared to be independent of the number of members of staff or the number of renters in front.

:) Chris.
