Hi..

Can anyone recommend a decent, cheap hotel with a shuttle to DL. Cont. breakfast would be nice to... or near some cheaper places to eat.... I want to price a package with hotel and DL passes through DL and then try and price it separately on expedia (or a similar site).. but there are SOOOOOO many hotels listed...

if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate hearing them..

thanks

Go to Bret's Disneyland LinkMap it's a Geocities site that's just what it says, it's a map of the Disneyland resort area and the hotels around it.

My suggestion would be the del Sol Inn or the Desert Inn They're both quite reasonable and you don't have to wait for shuttles because they're both directly across the street from the entrance to the Disneyland resort. They both have continental breakfast, microwave and refrigerator in every room. They're clean, have nice pools (the Desert Inn has an indoor pool) and are usually have the lowest rates in the vicinity.

We just got back and I also had a hard time trying to pick a hotel. We stayed at the Carousel Inn even though I had read mixed reviews. We had the three bed suite with livingroom that overlooked both parks and tram area. It was great. Loved the view. Watched the fireworkes from the rooftop pool on two differnt nights. No need to take the tram. We just walked. McDonalds and other places to eat close by. The cont. breakfast was the only downfall. It was lacking in variety but was enough to get us by untill our early lunch PS times. We had a AAA discount. I dont know what the reg rooms were like but location and price were great.

We decided to go off-site for our visit in early December. We are trying the Candy Cane Inn. I booked my room on their website--the internet rate was better than AAA rate. Candy Cane Inn has received a lot of great reviews on this board.

Candy Cane is within walking distance, has a free breakfast, and the main deciding factor for us was that they have their own shuttle.

Hope we like it!:D

I really like the Best Western Park Place Inn and Embassy Suites.

Embassy has a great cooked to order breakfast, large rooms, manager's recption nightly and their shuttle is a full size bus.

Park Place has nice size rooms(the mini suites)a small continental breakfast and is the closest offsite hotel.

I have not heard good things about the Del Sol. A friend of mine stayed there and said the rooms were so bad she slept in her car to get a good nights rest. I have also heard that the Park Vue has roaches. Another friend found them in her room and she used to ONLY stay there.....needless to say, she won't be back.

I have stayed at the Desert Inn and Suites (walking distance) and was happy with the room. We had a parlor suite (seperate living room area) and paid 69.00 per night for the room. They have a SMALL breakfast but they do have Milk so that was a huge plus. The room was clean and spacious.

I have also stayed at the Carousel. While I thought the breakfast was better than the Desert Inn, they do not have milk. The pastries were fresh as was the fruit. We had a standard room and it had plenty of room for 4 of us and a crib. The crib had it's own little spot so it was out of the way. The walk to the park was quick.

In March I stayed at the Best Value Inn and Suites ORANGE. They have a shuttle to the park that is kinda a pain in the rear. You have to schedule your time and the paper states ONE round trip per day, but if you ask nicely they will allow more if the shuttle isn't full. THe Best Value provided a HOT breakfast AND Dinner. I have heard the selection has changed since we stayed there, but when we were there they had good food. I paid 64.00 for a studio room (one queen bed and a pull out sofa). These rooms have a full kitchen (fridge, stove, oven, and supplies). They will grocery shop for you if you leave them a list and when we went, you were only charged for the groceries not a shopping fee. The shuttle ride was quick maybe 5-7 minutes and the shuttle drivers were wonderful.

In November we are staying at the HoJo's, again walking distance. They do not have a breakfast, but all rooms have fridge and some have microwaves. The HoJo's web site has good rates.
