This one is just as good cold the next day.

Salmon Pie

1 double pie crust
1 can of salmon
2 eggs
1/2 sleeve of crushed crackers
1/2 onion chopped

Pour can of salmon with liquid into a bowl, scoop out the bones. Mix in the crackers, eggs onion and some salt and pepper. Pour into one pie crust and top with other crust. Bake at 350 until golden brown approximently 40 min.

My mom makes somethingh like this... but she puts mashed potatos in it, not the crackers. The whole family loves it but me. :confused3 Not a fan of fish....

I'm looking for a kettle corn recipe you can make at home. Does anyone have one?

Thanks in advance...

Wanted to review some of these recipes...I am determined to get my grocery bill down this year.

Turkey Soup!

Its what we do with the leftover Christmas or Thanksgiving turkey.

Save the carcass, bones, skin, etc. Boil them until everything comes off to make broth. Remove the bones, skin, etc. This makes a very rich, thlck broth. Add back in any left over meat. I usually buy a turkey leg and boil with the carcass to have extra meat.

Add diced ptoatoes, carrots, onion, celery.

Add 2-4 cans tomato soup, 1 cup catsup, wortchestshire sauce, dried mustard, garlic powder, salt * pepper, dried parsley flakes, dash of tabasco sauce, to taste.

Boil then simmer at low heat for 10-12 hours. A crock pot is good or we used the turkey roaster. The longer it simmers the better to thicken it up. If it doesnt thicken up, add some tapioca mix.

Great with crusty bread and a salad. Best of all, you spend pennies for the soup, and its always our favorite holiday leftover!

This is awesome. You have to try it!

Hashbrown Potato Casserole

1 can Cream of chicken soup
500 mls Sour cream
1 cup (or more) Old cheese
1 small finely chopped onion
1 kg frozen hashbrowns
1 tbsp melted butter
salt and pepper (I use seasoning salt)

Bake in 450 F oven for 1.5 - 2 hrs. I can exist on this alone for the rest of my life!

Sounds great! What is "old cheese"? I assume Cheddar--sharp?

think I am going to try chicken and yellow rice tonight or maybe black beans and rice....

Ingredients:

6 cups chicken broth (or 6 cups water and 6 bouillon cubes, whichever you have handy)
2 pkgs cream cheese
1 32 oz pkg shredded hashbrowns
1 tsp white pepper
1 tbsp dried chives
1 tsp garlic powder
1 1/2 tsp dried minced onion (substitute fresh chopped onion if you have it)
1 cup diced cooked ham
3 slices cooked bacon (chopped)

Cube cream cheese and combine with broth in crock pot. Turn crock pot on high for 30 minutes. Use whisk to combine cream cheese and broth, add spices and whisk again. Add remaining ingredients and turn crock pot to low. Cook 6-8 hours.

Having this for dinner tonight and it smells REALLY good right now. Super easy and a great way to use up a little leftover ham.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but I make this sometimes. Put about 3-4(or more depending on number of people) boneless chicken breast in the crockpot, 1 jar of pace chunky style picante sauce, 1 pkg of taco seasoning and a little water about half of the way and cook on low all day(about 6-7hrs). Shred with a fork and put in tacos or burritos. The mixture is verrry juicy but good. Anybody have some good chili recipes? I read a few so far. I have a couple of cans of pork n beans I would like to get rid of. Keep the recipes coming though, I love all the ideas. I getting burnt out with the same ole, same ole, ykwim!:goodvibes

Does anyone have a good recipe for chicken noodle soup? Something good and easy? Thanks.

I adapted this recipe for myself from one of those secret recipe websites that charge money.. it was a freebie when I first found it. The key is to saute the vegies before adding any liquid, that is how the flavors come out.

2 boneless /skinless chicken breasts
oilve oil
2 -3 stalks celery chopped (keep some of the leaves at the top for more flavor)
1 onion chopped (green onion works too, use white and green parts)
1-3 cloves garlic chopped/smashed (or powder)
1/2 small bag baby carrots chopped (or any fresh carrrots you like, I'm lazy)
1/4 to 1/2 bag egg noodles
1 container organic chicken broth (or go cheap ...use Swanson cannned/boxed, or water and good tasting bouillon cubes like Knorr's)
thyme
salt
pepper

In your soup pot,
Saute the chicken breasts ( I use the frozen ones) in olive oil.
Chop up and set aside.
Saute onions, add garlic (don't let them brown, just sweat em)
add vegies and saute for a few minutes... they can still be a bit crisp.
Add broth, add the chopped chicken, add spices (good time to add any extra celery leaves that you have chopped up)

Cover with lid, simmer until vegies are tender.
Bring to boil and add noodles.
Cook until noodles are done.

Goes great with some nice crusty bread.

If I'm trying to hurry it along..I sometimes pull the breasts out when only half cooked, chop them and pot them back in pot to finish up cooking. I may choose to saute vegies more so they won't need to simmer as long.. but that longer simmering time makes a difference.

Soup is something that you can play around with. If you need more water, add it, more vegies, more meat.. no problem!

We over did the onions once (and let them brown) and it tasted like french onion chicken noodle soup.. ehhh.. not the greatest but DH liked it.

1 lb Hamburger
1 packet taco seasoning
1 can diced tomatoes with juice
1 can corn - drained
1 can tomatoe sauce
1 can rice
1 can water

Brown hamburger, Drian off excess fat.
Add Taco seasoning. Add all other ingredients. Bring to a boil.
Simmer, covered for 15 minutes. My family loves this with Shredded
Cheddar Cheese on top with Tortilla Chips.
Probably total cost with a bag of cheese and a bag of chips is $10.00.

Another good and cheap recipe is for Taco Soup

2lbs ground beef
garlic
1 small onion
1 28 oz can of tomato sauce
1 28 ozcan of whole tomato
2 14 oz cans of pinto beans
2 14 oz cans of light red kidney beans ( the light red have a more tender skin than the dark red)
2 envelopes taco seasoning

dice the onions and garlic and brown with the ground beef. Add all the other ingredients (do not drain the beans) cook for 30 mins... done! Serve with Scoops Tortilla chips.

Crockpot Beef

Chuck Roast (any size )
1 bottle of A-1 marinade (any flavor)

Put the roast and marinade in the crockpot... cook for 6-8 hours on low or until the beef is falling apart. Serve over mashed potato or white rice.

BBQ Chicken

1 family size package of boneless/skinless chicken breasts
1 bottle of your favorite bbq sauce

Chicken and BBQ sauce in the crockpot and cook 6-8 hours on low in the crockpot or until chicken is shreddable. Serve on bulkie rolls with tomato and lettuce or over white rice or in tacos.

the A-1 and roast....can you taste the A-1 like you would when you dip steak into it? I love A-1 just never had it on a roast before...

The A-1 I am referring to is the A-1 Marinade...it comes in lots of different flavors.. NY Steakhouse, etc. So, there is a tinge of A-1 flavor...but not like dipping the steak into it flavor..lol.
