Cheap Hotels Away from Orlando?

We're driving to Disney from Alabama. To maximize our time (and minimize our cost) in Disney, we plan to stay in the parks until late on the day we check out of our Value resort.

But I'm not looking forward to a long drive after a long day in the park. Does anyone have any suggested hotels to look into as a place to rest for the night before the long drive home? The idea is to travel far enough away from Orlando so that there isn't any 'Disney' premium included in the rate.

Because we have 6 people travelling, a hotel with a cheap 'suites' would be good. For example, I know of some Ramada Inns where a 'suite' is defined as an additional bedroom behind the stair case. You get three rather than two beds, and the price isn't that much more over a standard room.

I would map out your route and pick a city/town where you think you could get to that night. Then search hotel sites for a good deal. You might actually find that you can get a better deal in Orlando since there is so much competition than you will find elsewhere. We stayed at the Days Inn on I-Drive a few years ago for $35 a night. It was right by off the highway to so easy to get to from Disney and easy to get to in the morning for that LOOOOONG drive home!
