Can anyone recommend an inexpensive hotel (below $75 a night) which is close to WDW. We have a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) so staying at a Disney Resort is a bit of a budget breaker.

Time of year, length of stay, any pool or transportation requirements, etc.? I was going to suggest Priceline, but with 5 people you will probably need a suite (something with 2 beds plus a sofabed) and there is no way to guarantee that, or even two beds.

  • I cannot imagine you would get the SpringHill or Embassy Suites for that rate, but maybe a Hampton or Country Inn or some other type suite hotel in Kissimmee. Check AllEars or MouseSavers for deals on hotels, even timeshare places.
  • If you know someone with a timeshare exchange, that might work. While Marriott properties would be too high, there are off brand places in Kissimmee (like Star Island) that would do if all you need is a no-frills place for 5 people while you are in the parks all day.
  • Another solid idea is a private condo or villa. Try VRBO or windsorhillsrent. Depending on the time of year and length of stay, you can probably find something in your budget in WH or EI.
FWIW.

Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista is very close to Downtown Disney with free continental breakfast and has good prices on discount hotel websites.

Also found good reports on this board and trip advisor for Galleria Palms which is at Maingate if you prefer this end to DTD. Try Galleria Palms own website as people have mentioned getting it for $50

Depending on when you're going, you might want to check out the Courtyard in Lake Buena Vista at Vista Centre.

We got an Entertainment card rate of $75 a night for a 2 room suite in October. There's a 5 person max in the suite.

We stayed there two years ago and loved it, the price was right and it was in a fairly quiet area.

We've stayed at other Candlewood Suites before and enjoyed them. They have a kitchen which will help save on meals and snacks:yay: . They also have free movies to borrow from the front desk.-

We have stayed at Quality Suites LBV twice and thought they were great. Paid $79 a night both times and they are still at those prices. We had a 1 bed suite with 2 double beds and a sleeper sofa in the living room. Kitchen with hob, microwave, dish washer etc. Nice breakfast. Very close to DTD. First year we went in 2006, didn't have a car and used the shuttle which was very efficient, next time we went we had a car which is even better but would definitely stay there without a car if I had to. The staff were very friendly, hotel was spotless and heard absolutely no noise from any other guest. We also love Homewood Suites Universal but further away and more expensive at around $124 but rooms are fantastic. Howevere, we have been spoilt for ever by staying at Saratoga Springs last December! What we tend to do now is spend first 10 nights at Homewood or Quality and then 9 nights at a Disney hotel to relax.

I'm also planning a trip to WDW and I found a hotel from this forum itself which is really cheaper. Read the thread about "ROYAL PLAZA RESORT".
