I was spoiled when we were down in Sept '00 with the candy cane and westcoast - but - what CHEAP motels should I definately NOT go to - no matter how cheap!? What are some of the decent ones. I would prefer a free cont. brekkie and has to have an outdoor pool! I am thinking I can swing this trip on 1500 bucks!!! I am so excited! Would I be better off to try and priceline a hotel?????
Also - would I be better off July 22-29 (ish) or early-mid August?????

The later you can go the better, from a crowd perspective. Although August is still crowded it is not quite as bad as July, and the weather is usually very good.

I would definitely try Priceline if you know what you can spend and you know what types of hotels are available through them.

Good luck! :D

Stay away...stay FAR FAR away from the Days Inn. It is cheap and has a continental b-fast plus an outdoor pool, but it is GROSS! Very dirty, just all-around disgusting with the added plus of a rude and indifferent front desk staff. We stayed there 2 years ago, I figured it was a chain and had 3 stars in the AAA book so it would be OK. It was pretty bad...we couldn't wait to get out of there. We would have left and stayed someone else but it was busy in Anaheim and we couldn't find anything for a decent price.

Live and learn:)

Travelhero.com is offerring a $99 buy one get one free night and it has free limited breakfast and is across the street from the park. If you're staying an even # of nights, it might work out for you. The reviews sound mixed on the travelhero site, but nothing sounded scary. Good Luck!

Which days inn did you stay at Peter Pan Fan?? We stayed at the days inn on Harbor (1111 I think) twice and though it was nothing special, it was clean and I had not troubles.

WDW2002: I believe that's the one...all I can say is everyone's experience is different. Frills I don't need, but clean I need. There were dead bugs throughout the room as well as stains on the floor and on the bedding. The bedspread was *especially* disgusting, had some hardened spots where something  (I don't know what and don't want to know..) was spilled on it and hardened. Ewwww...really gross.

Interestingly, I was reading mousesavers and Mary suggests staying away from the Days Inn chain in Florida, when I read that I was thinking they must be getting bad nationwide.
