Cheap hotel for 1 night....

We are going to Universal but, our flight doesn't come in until late. So we want to stay at a cheap hotel for one night until we move over to Universal for just one night. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

For our upcoming Sept. trip we also have a late arriving flight so we booked the Wingate Inn near the airport thru Hotwire.com for only$49/nt + taxes and includes free cont. breakfast.
Since with HW, you don't know the name of the hotel you're booking (only the star rating and general location such as MCO, LBV, etc.) until after you book and it's non-refundable, we got some help identifying the hotels that were offered by going to betterbidding.com and they will help you.
My neighbor just got the Hyatt in MCO for only $68 a few weeks ago thru HW too.
The Wingate Inn was listed as a 3* with this exact list of amenities:
Pool
Fitness Center
Business Center
Shuttle
HS Internet Svc.

I want to check it out. It's great that your friend was able to get the Hyatt. I have always wanted to stay there.
Would you be able to tell me what were the hotel amenities that were listed, because I see something that is $64 now but, am not too sure if that is the hotel.

Unfortunately, the Hyatt has changed their list of amenities so that it cannot be distinguished from the Renaissance. Previously it was the only 3.5* with tennis.
Now it's:
shuttle
fitness ctr
pool
restaurant
business ctr
HS internet access

Now it's showing the 3.5* for only $59/nt. The 3* is the Wingate for $45. (this is 2 adults only, wasn't sure if you had kids)
That's a great price for a 3.5*. Just remember, it's non-refundable so even if it's not what you wished for your'e stuck with it. Still, the Renaissance is very nice too; it's a division of Marriott.
We stayed at the Fairfield Inn (a cheaper division of Marriott) in Feb. and it was fine for 1 nt. and that is a 2.5* on HW. Too bad there's a lot of not-so-good 2.5's so I wouldn't take a chance. Stick with the 3* or 3.5*.
I think it's fun to try for 1 nt. but I wouldn't want to risk it for a whole vacation.

We do that same thing. This year we booked the Country Inn Suites for like $89. We have stayed in those before and they are nice. They also offer breakfast in the mornings!

I have found it highly unlikely to use my miles for free airfare. Therefore I now use my Advantage miles for hotel stays. If you have miles and have been itching to spend them, then go to www.AAvacations.com You can use your miles to stay in disney resorts. And you can use the miles to include taxes as well.

Rule of thumb 10,000 miles equals $80.00

while I do understand this is undervalued for a way to spend miles it does allow me several hotels stays during the year for free. You will be suprised with the quality hotels that do participate. Orlando in my opinion is the best place to use them.

Don't forget to sign all your family members to earn Advantage miles.

Minimum stay of two nights.

You decide but this is a cheap way to stay in orlando. And in theory if you have enough air miles you could pay for a disney trip completely with airmiles.
