Hi all.
I'm not sure if this is where I need to post this, but here goes. Where traveling from SW PA Nov. 15. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a nice, nothing fancy, hotel to stay over night at around Charlotte, N.C. Just want to have a plan incase the drive is to much for DH. Just someplace to lay our heads down and sleep.
I don't want to spend alot. Where on a Major Budget here. Suggestions???????????? Some place off of I-77.

I can't give you an exact hote since we're going down i95, but Days Inn had specials for $34 per night now and I think they're all fairly clean hotels because the chain checks them. Anyway, that's where we're staying.

Where did you find the Days Inn for $34 ? I have a Entertainment Card and a Disney Card. What kind of rates can you get with these? Do they save you any money? Should I just wait and see how it goes or should I book something ahead. DH seems to think he'll be able to drive straight through no problem, but I'm the sceptic. Getting so nervous but excited. Trying to finalize all the last minute things.

We got a "Rt 95 Traveler" flyer kinda thing from a NJ Turnpike rest stop. We found several hotels off 95 for 29-45 dollars in the Carolina area...

We are driving down on the 8th of November. Last year we drove down and stopped in S.C. and paid 29 for a Knights Inn. (no discount card needed)

The $34 dollar rate is off the daysinn.com website. I booked online. it's refundable untill 4 pm the night you check in, so i'm still trying to get a deal on priceline (i'm only bidding up to $15 so it's not likely). Don't need any coupons or anything and you can get a list of the motels they have throughout the country. Good luck.

We have been to WDW over 35 times, driven about 20 from Maryland. We found that if you book a room ahead of time, and cant drive that far and want to drive further, you have to cancel by 6 p.m. or so, by then its too late to cancel. There is so many deals on the road, start looking for rooms about an hour before your ready to stop. Pick up the roomsavers/traveler books for the rest stops they're great help. I did this aug. and last xmas and we got nice rooms for about 40.00 with con. breakfast. We are driving down Nov. 8, leaving md after school to go on the cruise on sunday. Hopefully we will drive 6-8 hours. Before looking for a hotel.

I agree with leslieh. Don't book in advance. We've driven down from New Jersey numerous times. Weather, traffic, length of rest stops, etc., can all affect how far we get before we're ready to stop. Virtually every exit along the highway has 2 or 3 hotels with reasonable rates - Days Inn, Quality Inn, Sleep Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Knights Inn, Motel 6, etc. We've probably stayed in all of those at one time or another. Finding a room for certainly under $50 and probably under $40 is not that difficult. Definitely stop at a state welcome center or large rest stop and pick up the traveler ad book. That lists the hotels and their rates.

Steve, who leaves tomorrow for a week in Disney World.

Have fun in Disney Steve, If you get this before you leave. DD works at Port Orleans in the college program:( We will be there next saturday ready to cruise on sunday.

At http://www.roomsavers.com, you can enter a city or search by interstate. We usually spend the night on the road even though we live closer than PA. ;) We never know how far we will get with fatigue after work, but we print out lots of coupons from this website. You can clip coupons and then print all your clipped coupons at once. It is great because it gives us a heads up for exits with more hotels -- which usually means better competition/prices. If you stop later than 10 or 11 pm, ask the desk for their best rate BEFORE you show your coupon. Many hotels drop prices as the night goes on.
