Cheap Fly-drive

We usually book a package deal but next year we have the option of using a friends villa, so we have been looking at Fly Drive prices.
However, we would like to upgrade the flights to premium seating (ie Virgin Premium economy or First Choice Premier) due to bad flyers and a 6'5" son!!

Do any of these premium seats come up as discounted for fly drives?

At the moment we have priced up a fly drive with First Choice and it only works out at about £100 less than a package deal with a hotel included - surely they must come out cheaper than this. Best price at the mo for 3 adults and 2 17 year olds is £3,580 for a fly drive and £3,700 for a package for late September 2010

Any help or hints greatfully accepted .

How about booking flights and car hire seperately?
Booking car hire from this country is cheaper than including as part of a package/fly drive

We've always booked everything separately. That way you can shop around for the best prices and get exactly the flights and car you want.

Many of us on this board 'do it ourselves' and have lots of experience that could help, if you have any questions/concerns.

Look at the airlines web pages themselves,
either direct with BA or virgin Atlantic
or indirect with
Continental (also check their prices for seats on the Gatwick Virgin flights)
American
Delta
Northwest
US airways

then book the car hire seperate
again through the main car hire comapnies web sites (or phone them up)
and others will be able to give you tips n car hire brokers web site to visit

We got a good car hire price for this year with uscarhire.co.uk

Fortunately we booked quite a while ago and the price was in pounds, so was unaffected by the drop in the exchange rate.
