We are 2 families, a party of 9, heading to Orlando again in September this year, 2012. Just wondering if anyone else from Melbourne was planning on heading to WDW around that time but had yet to book flights. If we have a booking for 10pax, we will receive a 10% discount. We are not asking anyone to join us on our holiday, just share the plane!

Dates we have booked our accomodation for are 17-28 September, 2012 however we are flexible. Anyone interested in piggybacking on the flight booking?

I've thoroughly enjoyed lurking the past couple of years and living vicariously through the many trip reports. May we all be lucky enough to have another Disney holiday.

Thanks Karen.

Best flights is also my first point of call!

Whilst we are staying at POFQ, our friends are at POR as they needed a room for 5 people. Reading your September 2012 thread, and signature, am I right in believing this will coincide with your travel plans?

We are going 15 Sept - 3 Oct and I am probably going to book with Air NZ - cheapest that I have found departing Brisbane.

Thanks Karen.

hey

we were going to stay at POR 30 sept -3 Oct, but then I decided to change to Bay lake tower as the food and wine fest is on at EPCOT, and the monorail will be more practical & using our DVC points also saves us about $650....

tip: always go thru airline web site to purchase, as if you need to change flights etc, its cheaper than 3rd party..ie flight centre.we learnt this the hard way

your friends are going to love POR, I did....the quiet pools are awesome, and you can do your laundry while lazing by the pool.

food court is good too...and catch the boat to DTD.

Buses are a tad crowded and sometimes stop at POFQ first so very full, thus the change to BLT for Food and wine..

enjoy the hunt for fares..and dont forget to sign up for the frequent flyer program of whatever airline you are eventually flying...

meandmygirl, I could make those dates work! Any chance of moving to Melbourne?

Following your advice australiankaren, I've been ringing around the airlines. Whilst AirNZ flights are the cheapest of the big three, their layover at LAX both ways is unappealing. The layover is on ave 10 hours. This is not something I want to trial with 5 children, all 11 and under, including 1 with Aspergers Syndrome.

We've always flown Qantas but their flights come out about 7k more than United for the 9 of us. Has anyone flown United? Am I crazy for even considering them? Can't help but think I can book my next WDW with $ diff.

I can live with United. They are not the best but I have flown far worse (don't get me started on Lufthansa).the meals are edible, the staff OK and they are generally efficient at loading, unloading and drink service. The service is a little thin on the found but not unfriendly. The big downer is the plane. You still fly in a 747 with no in setback screens. If your kids have other electronic babysitters, and can cope with not seeing the movie on the big screen, then United is fine. If they are quite a bit cheaper I would go with United.

Thanks austraveler. We have enough Apple devices we could pass as an orchard! In addition to a couple of Ds's. Even with the purchase of a portable DVD or two and factoring in the $70 charge for a second bag each, the $ diff is still significant. Starting my "It will be ok" mantra now as I work up to booking the flights.

Too funny :lmao:, I just can't bring myself to consider United because they don't have inseat screens :rotfl2::rotfl2:. I know I know, we could use portable devices but I just love those darn screens.

If you fly business you get in seat screens, but that defeats the whole cost saving exercise....

check out the delta flights, they sometimes match united $$$$, and they have personal screens, and newer aircraft

if you do go United, sign up for the united frequent flyer program, you may get enough points for a domestic flight in the USA the next trip...same as delta, we now have enough points with delta to fly first class lax to orlando this time around:banana:
