Cheap flights help

If its wasn't for great deals, I would never get to Disney. Its kind of fun and challenging trying to outdo myself!

Alaska Air - Using miles from their Visa, I've also used the companion fare specials (used to be $50, now $100) most recently we scored the $50 one way from PDX to SNA - it was a winter sale.

Getting 2 trips out of an AP, even if they are 11 mos apart.

We used to swear by the Entertainment rate at Hojos but WDW cured me of my fear of shuttles - so now its Priceline all the way! 3* and up rooms for $35-$50. We always pack our breakfast items from home, so I dont care if we get a free bk or not.

Good luck!

I LOVE Allegiant! I spend hours finding the best possible deal, and we've never found anything close to Allegiants prices. We fly from Bellingham, WA to LA since we are from Canada and its a short drive across the border. Our last trip we paid $29 one way, and $49 coming back.I saved over $1000 by flying from Bellingham, rather than our closest airport in BC(Vancouver International). I find you really have to keep a close eye on the prices though, as they change so frequently. We have found the best deals on Allegiant by waiting until about 4-6 weeks before our travel dates..the closer the dates came, the cheaper the flight was, but you have to grab it as soon as you see it, otherwise its gone. Its not a fancy airline, no perks, and we never choose the "select seat option" or "preboarding" option(which are extra fees) and have never had a problem with seat assignments or anything. Its only a 2.5 hr flight for us, so we don't need anything fancy!

The comment on being a party of 5 was more towards the "expedia" sites most default hotels to 4 people so trying to book flights and rooms can be troublesome.

I had no plans to go anytime soon but at $100(rt) a head to fly and by doing 1 ways out of differnt airports we can do 4 days or 9 days depending on how we plan it.

I should be doing school work:lmao:

Wow now that's great prices! I haven't seen that cheap for LA (was this for LAX?) but now that I know they are that cheap I will be watching :)

Yes, for LAX. We found the $29 in February for our May trip..and waited to book the return fare because at that time it was around $169 coming back. I watched it closely, several times a day(you could say I was a little obsessed, lol!), and finally in April, the prices for our return date dropped to $49. The next day, the price was back up to $169!

I fly out of Oakland on Southwest -- but what I've found is that airfare is typically cheapest around 2 months from the travel date.

If book too far in advance the tickets are higher and if you book too close, again they're higher.

You might play around with imaginary dates on the airline you plan to use and see what happens to the price as you change the dates.

And, it probably goes without saying, but the price is usually always higher around holidays and sometimes on Fridays.

Hi again :)

I use expedia to get idea of room rates for the area I am traveling to. I see if there are specials and at what hotels.

I now will call the hotel direct and ask for a managers special. ( or any other special they might have.)

I have always thought expedia does the reservation for just two ppl, although you can usually call direct to hotel and let them know it is 4 /5.

So you are aware--- Making a reservation say through expedia, priceline, or even Alaska Airlines travel dept means the hotel will most likely only deal/ speak to/ and so on with the travel company making the arrangements. (Although most hotels- airlines will try best to get a hold of the travel company on your behalf.) AT the bottom of the E-TICKETS you will find what is called your E-Ticket number lol make sure you have that as if your flight should be canceled you can go right away to counter for help getting new flight. It used to be with that information you could go to another airline and get help not sure if that holds true now. It is not same when using travel agency :(. It should be in my opinion.

This happened to me once and I have since always made my own reservations.

If anyone one else has any travel information come on and share. :)

Back to being the LAUNDRY QUEEN

LIKE WHO PICKED ME FOR THAT JOB--- I WANTED THE SIT IN FRONT OF THE TV EAT BON BONS AND WATCH GAME SHOWS JOB.

We're flying Allegiant in March. I really was dreading flying into LAX, but I can't pass up a direct flight for 49.99! They do only fly on certain days...we are leaving on Sunday and coming back Thursday, which I think will be good for a first visit to Disneyland. However, I'd like to later take a Thursday-Thursday trip :woohoo:

Thank you all for post about Allegiant. I have checked it out and found some awesome prices on here. Now we are considering of flying instead of driving! Flying will make the trip a whole lot easier, and through Allegiant it looks like it will cost the same as driving.

For those of you that are finding amazing airfares through Allegiant....please let me just issue one caveat: if anything happens to your flight and for some reason, it is canceled, you may be in a world of hurt. This is probably pretty unlikely, but it happened to us on Thanksgiving, and we had a total nightmare trying to salvage our vacation.

The full details are in my TR (link in my signature) but the bottom line was this: booked Allegiant to Long Beach, woke up to snow. Allegiant only had one de-icer and after sitting in the airport for hours waiting to find out if we would fly, they canceled all flights out for the day. The clincher here was that they told us they would not resume flights out until their normal flight schedule....3 days later. Our vacation was prepaid so 3 days was a lot to give up. I went next door to Alaska Airlines who got us out, no problem, but the bottom line was my "super cheap" Allegiant tickets ended up costing my family an additional $1200.

Again, this is a worst case scenario, but I wanted to throw it out there.
