We used Hotwire.com and got a "suite" at Comfort Suites for $52/night. There were two queen sized beds and a pull out couch. The kids were 6 and 8 and didn't mind being on the couch at all. But it was not a two room suite as you described in the original post.

Breakfast was included in the rate and 6 people eating breakfast everyday probably saved us another $180-$200 for the week.

Hotwire is a "blind" site like Priceline where you do not know the name of the hotel until you make the purchase. I have used Hotwire more than 20 times and have never been disappointed. Be sure to choose a hotel that is rated at least 3 stars. There is another website that helps figure out which hotel you are actually paying for before you purchase by looking at the star ratings, the amenities included and posts from people after making their purchases. Check out betterbidding.com then click on Hotwire then on Florida and scroll down to Orlando.

offsite without a car - is not a good ideal.

have you looked at the rates at Pop century or the all stars?

offsite it great and will save you money - but you really, really need a car for offsite.

or you can loose hours and I mean hours daily - getting back and forth to the parks.

here is the bus schedule from Best Western Lakeside

http://017b588.netsolhost.com/shuttles.htm

now BWlakeside is one of those hotels were you either love it or hate it - had both here.

you really need to consider a rental car or staying onsite at a value resort.

the ID trolley does not go to WDW.

the Lynx bus does - but you need to get to SW to ride it.

now if you are considering a DD hotel - then that is different. they have a very nice shuttle (mears) every 30 minutes going back and forth to the parks.

there hotels.
www.downtowndisneyhotels.com

you can sometime find discount here
www.travelzoo.com - for the dd hotels

this seems to be the only dd hotel available using travelzoo
http://hotels.bookit.com/florida/or...thewaltdisneyworldresort/?promoId=1311355#top - looks like $69 per night?

If you rent a car, your options will be endless. Seriously. There are so many nice places to stay.

Here are a few to check out:

BonnetCreek.com
Cypress Point Resort
Orange Lake Resort
Windsor Hills Resort
Windsor Palms
Marriott's Resorts..>Grande Vista, Horizons and Cypress Harbor
Sheraton's Vistana Resort and Vistana Villages (Can get a discount through www.wwdwig.com)
Silver Lake Resort

Hope this helps! Good luck to you!

PS Also check out www.hotelkingdom.com and www.bookit.com. They have some good rates on hotels in that area.

Check out Hawthorne Suites off Canada Avenue. You can walk to I-drive. They have a free hot breakfast and clean. They offer shuttles WDW and US.

I have to agree, staying off site without a car is not the greatest idea but it can be done when you stay at a hotel with a shuttle to the parks.

We are staying in October of next year and the other day I reserved a 2 room suite at the Super 8 on Wine St. I searched on hotels.com and super8.com and actually found a better deal on the actual hotels website! It was $20 cheaper on the hotels website than hotels or super8.com. For a 2 room suite we are paying...drum roll please...$59 a night!! I know! I'm a little afraid the room will be horrible or really gross, but if so I'll complain enough that my next trip to disney will be free! :-D

The hotel is 1.5 miles away from disney's gates and has a maximum driving time of 9 minutes to all of the parks. For this rate, for a two room suite with a full kitchen and only 1.5 miles away, I couldn't pass it up!!!

Now, I have the 'Unoffical Guide' to Disney and the 2008 rating for this hotel was a 60, which isn't great, but there were several hotels that were worse!

Almost all hotels have some sort of shuttle to WDW. The problem is when it comes, how often, and how many hotels share the shuttle.

I paid $35 for a room at the Best Western Lakeside on Priceline. Nice place, kids eat breakfast free. Add a rental car for about $30 a day via hotwire or priceline.

You will save much money eating offsite at the very beginning and end of your day. Plus having a car is the best way of getting around, much better than relying on the Disney Bus System.

Hope this helps. Personally, I don't have much patience in waiting for the bus.

I agree with pp's...if it was me - I would go with a less expensive place and then drive (although be sure to factor in $12/day parking fee). But this way you can drive to a grocery store and save a ton on food for 6 people too. My family of 4 just got back from 8 nights in Orlando and spent $100 at Publix the first night - which served us all for 2 dinners, 5 lunches and 6 breakfasts. Plus a bunch of drinks and snacks that we brought to the parks.

I got a great deal (don't think it's still available but watch for deals) at Comfort Inn LBV - not an upscale place - but decent and with great location and free continental breakfast (just ask for a room facing the parking lot as I4 is very loud in teh rooms facing it. I got it for $34 a night and would stay there again if budget was a concern.
