In case anyone is looking for an inexpensive digital camera, Comp USA has a 4 Megapixel camera in their ad this week for $149.99 after rebates. It is a no-name brand (Concord) but that's the cheapest I've seen a 4 Megapixel camera. It might be worth checking out if your budget is slim.

Thanks!

If you buy from CompUSA, do NOT count on them honoring any warranties and definitely do NOT waste your money on extended warranties.. No matter what your problem is, they will find a way to charge YOU..

Frankly, I wouldn't buy a piece of paper from them..

Actually, C.Ann, I tend to agree with you. I never shop there. I just thought some folks might be interested in the camera offer.

As for extended warranties, you should NEVER buy them anywhere. They are a HUGE waste of money and a major source of profit for the stores that sell them. Products today are made quite dependably. Chances are good that something will either fail early on and you will return it or it will last a normal lifespan. In either case, you will have paid for warranty coverage that you will never use.

I'll always remember a few years back when I went to Radio Shack to buy a printing calculator. The item cost $19.99 and the clerk actually tried to get me to buy a service contract for several dollars. I thought he was kidding - but he wasn't.

another, more expensive option is the Kodak 4530 easyshare camera. 5.0 Megapixels, the cheapest I have found, and it is routinely advertised with a free SD card- anywhere from 64 to 256mb.

Price is $300 - and if it costs you more than that to get the camera and at least a 'free' 128mb card, pass on it and watch the sale papers for a few weeks.

Other options are 'open box buys' at Sears and Circuit City (these vary day by day and store by store)
