Oh no!! scary!!

:lmao: I am just wondering if I should shell out the big bucks and buy a nice big electric one, or just rent on from the hospital. Not that I know how much they are from the hospital. :lmao: Everything I have read said that with 2 babies, a double, electric is CRUCIAL. No wussy hand held pumps for me, I guess.

My cousin had a nice electric with her twins. I had the same model in the hospital to pump and dump when I had surgery on my foot. It was nice. Check around. I cannot remember what type it was but maybe you can find a used motor and buy the parts new from the manufacturer. That would be sweet.

I think I'm heading off. I'm so tired right now I'm about to pass out.

Goodnight.

Good morning, hyenas!
It is overcast and kinda dark here today. Weird!

Guess I need to check the weather forecast and find out what the heck is going on!

We had a great time at the ocean. It was very foggy most of the time we were there, as well as having a strong cold breeze coming off the water, so we wore our sweatshirts the whole time. While the Puget Sound region baked in nearly 100 degree temps, we tried to keep warm on the beach. I figure I had the much better scenario, because you can always put more clothes on... :rotfl:

Seems everywhere we went there were folks trying to find a room for the night. Even at midnight on Friday (coming back from our friends' condo) there was a couple at the front desk of our hotel, she asking, "What are we going to do?" and the husband snapped, "I don't know!" Between the end of summer quickie vacations people typically take (or so the hotel staff told me) and the heatwave in the state's interior, I can't believe anyone just drove out without some sort of lodging lined up. But they did, many of them. :confused3

Every room in Ocean Shores was booked, as well as a place we stopped at about half an hour up the coast. Yet again, a couple looking for a room, and being told everyplace was booked up for the weekend. (I stopped because I love that resort's little gift shop. I found some cute t-shirts for souvenirs of this trip.)

Oops. No need to check the forecast now, as I hear rumbling in the sky. DANG. I think I missed my window of opportunity for a shower... :rotfl:

I'm glad you and your family had a good trip :goodvibes The weather has cooled down a little bit, not very much, but just a small notch. It's gloomy outside today but I hope it doesn't become scorching hot. :faint:

Good morning and welcome back Alex. (Even though I didn't know you were gone.) :rotfl:

Been over on the DL board catching up there.

I guess I should get something done now.:laundy: :headache:

Hope everyone has a nice day!:goodvibes

Thanks, guys! :goodvibes

Sounds like the whole West Coast got baked this weekend, huh? (Well, except those of us shivering our patoots off at the ocean.) :rotfl:

We left Thursday after lunch and drove to Aberdeen, where we stopped for a potty break and ice cream. Also to pick up some kids' toothbrushes and toothpaste at the WalMart there. Oops!

Then a short drive further to Ocean Shores, where it was cloudy with sun breaks. We checked into our hotel room, and the boys went NUTS over the stairs and loft gigantic jacuzzi tub. We've stayed there with the boys before, but we figured it was probably 3 years ago, so DS4 certainly wouldn't remember, and apparently neither did DS7... Oh! Make that DS8 now!

We got settled into the room, then decided to head to a restaurant for an early dinner. We chose a restaurant that we liked on our previous trip, but this time the food just seemed so-so, and DS(7 at the time) didn't like his fish & chips. (I thought they tasted great!)

Then we drove out onto the beach and parked, and hauled a bunch of beach toys out behind the vehicle. The boys went nuts playing in the sand, it was great! We had a couple big plastic Tonkas (a loader and a dump truck), several different types of shovels, a small bucket and large bucket (with turrets and detailing on the sides to make an awesome castle!) DH and I just sucked in that ocean air smell... Mmmmmm!!!

As the sun was heading down the sky, we packed up the toys and kids and headed back to the hotel. DH and the boys popped into the big jacuzzi tub and watched the big TV up there, while I had a nice reading break. We watched the sunset from our room, and it was soooo beautiful, with deep oranges in the sky. Little did I know this would be the one and only chance to get a picture of it, since every other night would be foggy! :guilty:

On DS7's birthday we woke around 7:25. When he woke I gave him a hug and told him that in ONE HOUR he would be 8 years old! He gave me a sleepy smile and a hug. I showered and dressed, then got clothes out for the boys while DH showered. At 8:29 I told DS he was officially 8 years old! He was so pleased, it was hilarious! :lmao:

The boys and I headed to the lobby of the hotel to grab breakfast while DH was on a business call. We grabbed food, but there was no place to sit and eat, so we brought our food back to our room to eat. Then I gave DS8 one of his presents that I'd brought along, a My Neighbor Totoro DVD. The boys popped it into the DVD player while DH finished up his call and grabbed some breakfast himself. I have only seen bits and pieces of the movie so far, but the boys were laughing their heads off, so I can't wait to see it. It's a hit! :goodvibes

We called our neighbor friends, who had been vacationing there all week, and they invited us over to play on "their" beach. So we dragged half our sand toys to their place and headed out through the dunes behind their condo. The beach there does not allow driving and is much quieter. The kids played together so well, so we barely even had to watch them, it was so nice! They had a couple kites (we did too, but didn't have enough hands to bring those, too), so the kids took turns flying them. They also built a sand castle (my friend's DH dug a square trench in the sand for the castle moat, and the kids built the castle in the middle), they ran along the beach, they just dug and dug and dug in the sand. I don't think I've ever seen my kids play so well together for such a long time. :rotfl:

The families split up at lunch time. We headed to Subway, and waited half an hour in line there before getting food to eat. (They were super busy, the staff was slow, and the manager just up and left shortly after we got there!)

We went back to the hotel to get DS4 down for nap, but we wound up battling for about 2 hours before he finally crashed. By then it was a quarter to 5, so I let him sleep an hour, then we headed back to our friends' place for dinner. I brought fruit for a fruit salad, they had a wonderful salmon and mashed potatoes and other yummies. Then the girls had made a cake for DS's birthday, complete with cool wavy candles. They also gave him a present, a POTC beach towel and one of those gigantic squirt guns. :lmao:

They took us to a park they really enjoy, which has a cool climber and a slide like I've never seen before. It has no sides, and sort of curls side to side as you travel down. I guess you're supposed to hang your legs over the sides? Or hang onto the sides with your hands, there's a bit of a lip underneath. I was nervous about the boys going down it, but even DS4 had no trouble with it. :confused3

We headed back to the clubhouse at their condo, and the kids and DH played a kickboxing sort of videogame (remember when arcade games cost a quarter??? Sweet!) and my friend asked DS4 to pick out a video for the kids to watch that evening. He chose Scooby Doo (of course) but the one with Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michele Gellar in it.

So the kids played Monopoly (or 'Molopoly", depending on who you asked) and watched Scooby Doo, while the adults played Hearts. Good grief, it has been years since I've played cards, and probably a good 8 - 10 years since I played Hearts! I couldn't remember how to play! :rotfl2:

Fortunately my friend hadn't played much either, so I didn't feel too stupid. She and I had the high scores (that's a bad thing) while the DHs had the low scores. I believe her DH had the lowest score, so he is the King of Hearts. :rotfl:

We stayed until midnight, when we finished our 2nd round of Hearts. My two were still up and at 'em (to my surprise), but their DD8 had already crashed on her parents' bed, and their DD10 was trying hard to keep her eyes open. Poor thing! :cutie:

After breakfast in the lobby we dashed out to the beach for the morning. The boys played well until DS4 apparently got ticked about something, grabbed a handful of sand and threw it in his brother's eye! :scared1:

DS8 began to howl, of course, DH saw the whole thing happen and dashed over to help DS8. I didn't see it at its worst, but DH said sand was caked in DS's eye. :faint:

Fortunately he managed to cry a lot of it out, and DH just kept wiping around his eyes to get the sand out of the way as it came out. I grabbed DS4 and put him in time out, then made him go apologize to his brother.

When we were hungry, DH and the boys went back to the room while I drove to grab some food. I wanted fish and chips and the boys wanted burgers, so I had the brilliant idea to hit up a fish and chips place first, then go through the drive through at McD's. Problem with that was, with every room in town booked, EVERY PLACE was massively busy. I ordered the fish & chips fairly quickly, but it took half an hour to get it. Then I sat in the drive through at McD's for half an hour as well, returning to the hotel an hour after I dropped everyone off. :sad2:

So we ate, and it didn't look like DS4 was in the mood to nap, so we took a drive up the coast, thinking he might just crash in the car. We stopped at a beach near Moclips, thinking it would be sunnier than Ocean Shores. It actually was foggier! The fog was so thick we couldn't see 5 feet in front of us! DH was undeterred, however, and drove a bit and then parked. Again we hauled out the sand toys and the kids began to play happily. I took a walk along the beach, presumably down toward the water. I could hear it but not see it, but eventually the sand got wetter and wetter.

I heard a noise behind me and found DS4 had followed me. This made me a little nervous, because cars were driving around and unable to see, very likely totally unable to see a little guy! :scared1:

We walked the beach a bit, looking for shells or sand dollars. Normally we find TONS of sand dollars, but this time not a one. No whole shells, either, it was a total bust. I was nervous about walking around in such thick fog, worried about either getting run over by someone going too fast, or getting too far from our vehicle and having trouble finding it again. So we walked back away from the water without having ever found it, then from one parked vehicle we headed back toward our own, and found it without any trouble.

We were there less than an hour, then drove on up to Moclips to a little resort called Ocean Crest. They have a cool gift shop that I love to poke around in. I found cool t-shirts for the whole family. The one for the boys and DH is a navy t-shirt with a beautiful eagle on it, and is entitled something like: ADVICE FROM AN EAGLE. It has sayings on it like "Soar as high as you can reach" and "Bald is beautiful". :rotfl:

The one I chose for myself is ADVICE FROM A LADYBUG, it's very cute and on a red shirt.

We headed back to Ocean Shores then, stopping in the hotel room to clean up a bit before heading to our dinner reservation at the Shiloh Inn. I love dining there, they have a really nice menu and a beautiful location on the beach with huge windows. The boys had pasta with red sauce and I had a really nice pork chop with mushrooms and sauce, and a baked potato. (I have NEVER seen a pork chop this thick before, YIKES! I couldn't finish it!) I'm not remembering what DH had, but he seemed to enjoy it.

Once back at the hotel DH filled up that beautiful jacuzzi tub again, and the boys all soaked and watched TV. I again had some lovely reading time. After that we turned in for the night.

Vacation time always seems to go so quickly, doesn't it? That was the longest trip to Ocean Shores we've ever had, and it just flew by. I want to go back already! :lmao:

:lmao:

I always mean to do something like that.. cook for the week, of at least cook up some meat, so I dont have to think up dinner every night. I never do. :lmao:

I cooked up a bunch of chicken.. pieces of breasts with onion and spice, and some poached thighs. Packed them in the freezer in containers.. Now I jsut need to zap and toss a meal together :goodvibes
It was a tip in a cookbook that I just bought.

Cheap Fast Good by Beverly Mills and Alicia Ross

They have two more books:
Desperation Dinners
Desperation Entertaining

http://www.amazon.com/Cheap-Fast-Go...d_bbs_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1219096790&sr=8-1

The one thing that bugs me.. they under flavor the recipes. I tried one that was just "okay" , it needed something more to spark it up. Easy enough to do if you have a good supply of spices and other ingredients on hand. (And willing to adventure beyond the print.)
But it's a good book to get the brain thinking.. okay what shoud I make that doesn't require grocery trip to buy more stuff?

And they are hecka cheap basic ingredients-- nothing exotic.
