Shrimp poop....seriously people??? Couldn't someone have warned me :scared1::eek::faint: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

My SIL called today, we are the first in the family she called to announce that she is expecting. :goodvibes Her mom and other brother are both at work and she couldn't wait to share her news with someone. :yay:

We speculate she called us first to hear the happy " Congratulations!" before hearing the grumbly responses we are expecting from her mom and sarcasm from her brother. :sad2:

We knew she was trying to conceive since June, she was a little sad during the camp out, right before 4th of July, as she figured out she wasn't preg. She mentioned it to Eloy and I, their mom overheard and scoffed "you don't need that yet!" And SIL gave the exasperated eye roll response and a sad look at us.

I know MIL loves her kids and doesn't like to admit they are all grown.. and no longer under her control.. but geesh! Even if you don't agree, you bite your tongue and don't purposefully strike out at your adult children to make them feel miserable [insert bad language here]!

Anyway, she and her dh are young and struggling.. we did the same and though it's not the best way to start out.. It's what she has wanted and dreamed over for a long while. Eloy is ecstatic and eager to be uncle, this time on his side of the family. We are already thinking of shopping, silly since it's very early yet. Sending her many prayers and wishes for a good healthy pregnancy .. and low stress! :flower3:

YAY!! How exciting!! I knew that was the news from your FB status. I always figure baby news... Must be because I have so many kids, huh??

Well.. I took Julie shopping for a homecoming dress today. That went well, but I am exhausted!! We were all over the mall, and she found a super cute dress at JC Penney.. Guess how much it cost?? $30!!! Isnt that fantastic?? It was $50, but on sale. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

:yay:Awesome price!

I can't believe that I actually did a search for shrimp poop on our thread. So the only thing that is popping up is Dizzy's remark. What's going on? I thought I was the insane one.:confused3:laughing:

ummm, haven't you read the book "Everyone Poops":rotfl:
Are you freaking out about preparing fresh shrimp with all the funky de-veining, cleaning involved.?

What's going on? I thought I was the insane one.:confused3:laughing:

:lmao::rotfl2:

Yep baby news, I think my ex SIL was assuming it was someone on my side of the family. no no no.. I don't think any of us will be adding to the family right now. All of us are "done" and our own kidlets are too young.. that would be shocking.. happy kinda.. but more SHOCKING of news. :rotfl:

Our family is just starting to reach the next stage. One of my nephews has a 2yo, another just got married, 2 just graduated college, DD & another one just graduated from high school. I have a feeling the next 5-10 years we will seem more babies. Hopefully not from DD for a while yet!:scared1:

In a way it will be kind of nice to have little kids around. We have reached that spot during the holidays where it's kinda ho, hum. No excited kids running around...just us big, old boring adults.

Morning all! I didn't totally read everything cuz I haven't been feeling that hot and the medicine I am taking makes me kind of dizzy but I did see shrimp poop LOL. OKKKKK! Don't even want to know what that was all about LOL.

But I did see about your sis in law B and congrats!! That is awesome!

I am an only child and we don't really associate too much with dh's family. His oldest brother is gay so doesn't have any children and his middle brother has been in and out of jail and doesn't see his older kids (dead beat dad) and the youngest one he has the mom is also a criminal and the baby I believe is with the grandma. It is really sad. They live in another town and we just kind of stay away cuz that whole side of the family is bad news. I really miss being able to be an "aunt" and wish that my kids had cousins and even grandparents on that side but so be it.

Anyway that is awesome and regardless of the situation I am sure they will do great and you guys are great in-laws to be supportive of them even if the mom isn't. Nothing wrong with being young and broke. We all were once and some of us still are LOL.

Megan that's awesome that you found a great deal on Julie's dress. I hope she has fun at her first "american" dance!! :)

As for us the girls had another game yesterday and kicked booty and I am bummed cuz I stayed home (not feeling well) and missed seeing shelby score a goal. :( But they had a good day and then came home and we just started watching some of our halloween movies.

Today Shane and Katy are going on a bike ride with our swim team. Shelby would be going but she doesn't have a good enough bike yet. We hopefully will be getting her a better one for her christmas or her birthday for sure. And I am WAY too out of shape right now for a ride. I am sad too cuz I used to LOVE to ride and have a really nice expensive bike but I haven't ridden in years since I had the girls and have gotten way out of shape.

Looking forward to next week. Both girls have their performance at school for the 50th anniversary on Thurs and Shelby has her first ever piano recital on Friday so I am looking forward to it!

Anyway have a good rest of the weekend everyone!

What's up ladies & Albort? Dizzy! It's good to see you back! I miss your blue poquitos shunning us!! :sad2: :lmao:

Staley- awesome score on the dress for Julie. :thumbsup2

Kelly- I hope you are feeling better

I haven't been on the DIS lately. I've been busy and plus you guys are all on my FB, which makes it easier for me most of the time, since I'm not at home. :)

I went to DL yesterday, as I'm sure you guys all know. I'm just so tired and woke up a few minutes ago. :faint: I usually don't sleep in until noon but I was exhausted. I had a great time but I still haven't been able to go on HM to see my beloved Evil Teddy and Jack! :( HM broke down in the morning when we arrived at DL. Then we went to get a fastpass around noon and it said: "Return at 9:50PM" :faint: We didn't stay that long at the park and the regular line was just way too long.

We did score fastpasses for Space Mountain and I got to see the ghost they added. It's called Space Galaxy and it was so cool :) I liked it at a lot!

Oh and last night we stopped at an Asian mall that has a bunch of Jap claw machines. They had one where if you can pick up a round ball, you could win a brand new iPhone 4. Well I literally picked up the ball and it held and then when it almost dropped down into the prize slot, it dropped again!! I was sooooo mad but that would have been so cool!!! Everyone around us was like: "WOAH!!! SHE GOT IT!!" and then it fell :( When you win those, they take your polaroid and they write down the date you won and how much money you spent. So far only one guy has one and he spent $2. Lucky! :( My friend tried to get the iPad but lost.

They even have a machine with a huge Louis Vuitton bag inside. The other machines were stuffed animals but I'm still kinda mad that I was so close to winning the iPhone. :rotfl:

In a way it will be kind of nice to have little kids around. We have reached that spot during the holidays where it's kinda ho, hum. No excited kids running around...just us big, old boring adults.

In my family, we are at the "this is soooooo boring" eye rolling teen phase and two young 20 yr olds (one of which is dnTheMarine, who again will be on deployment over the holidays), thankfully we all have boys so it's not too overwhelming :lmao:

The little guy (my sister's youngest) is our bonus kid to enjoy interacting with during holidays. :goodvibes

On dh's side, it's always been a simple get together as they are a small family MIL, BIL and SIL.. now married. They usually call last minute and show up on Christmas Day, now that the boys are older that is just fine. We are usually bored out of our minds that day!

Pix, you always find the coolest places to go! Bummer on not winning, I would have complained that the machine was rigged and they owe me one anyway. Because I am special like that! :snooty:

And the reply would be.. nope! I don't think so. Get a life.
:rotfl:

mmmmm, I made chili today. Perfect weather for it now that it gets crispy cool in the afternoon/ evening. And dh made a loaf of bread out of my batch of dough, this time in a greased loaf pan. :thumbsup2 He put too much oil in the pan, it ended up being like a fried dough on the bottom.. it was good, just unexpected. I have one more wad of dough left and will make a new batch with a bit of tweaking as I think the ratio to flour to water was "off" as the bread was very dense. Even if it's not quite perfect, it's so super simple and cheap that we will keep it in rotation.

Note: I don't have a baking stone. I mix the dough in an ice cream bucket and use a greased loaf pan (or free form on baking sheet - greased or parchment paper needed!)

or more details, more ideas...

Hola!

I tried to catch up a bit.

Megan, that was a super score on Julie's dress! :thumbsup2

Bernice, Congrats on a new niece or newphew coming.:cloud9: HOw did your MIL take the news? :headache:

Kelly, I talked to your Mom last week. After that I called her friend Celeste for some more info on the cancer place in Mexico. Once again, thanks for the help!

Dizzy, WOW! How is it going? :sad2::sad2::sad2:
(Yuk! Yuk!)

Rochelle, How are you lately? Keeping strong? ;)

Alison, First I see yucky fish somethings....and the next thing you are talking about is shrimp poop????? What the world?

Morning and Happy Monday all!!

Rochelle that is so awesome that you get to go to DL so much!! SO jealous! I WANT that Mickey popcorn bucket. And I love that Trick or Treat bag too! I LOVE all the cute stuff they have this time of year and I am having major withdrawals at not going this year BUT I am excited that we finally get to go at Christmas and I know they will have super cute Christmas stuff to make up for it although since we aren't going till Christmas week I hope there is stuff left!

That is funny about the game. Bummer you didn't get the phone. I'd of been ticked too! :)

B all your cooking sounds so yummy! Making me drool!!

Mel SO good to see you!! I am so glad you spoke to Celeste and I hope that you are able to find something to help your sis. I know that with Celeste's daughter-in-law hope was almost gone and now she is doing really well so I am hoping that maybe something can be done for your sis!! I am praying for you all!!

As for me I am back to work today. We are actually supposed to get some rain today which I wouldn't mind except I have to be out all day today and I prefer to be in and cozy when it rains. :) I have to work, then pick up the girls and take Shelby to piano. But it will be nice to see it if it does happen.

Then tomorrow is just soccer and then nothing I can think of for wed but thurs is the girls performance and Fri is the recital so it will be busy towards the end of the week. And then as long as the weather is good after soccer we are going to go up to Apple Hill. We do this every year in October to just see the pretty leaves and to get some fun fall pictures and they have GREAT caramel apples and regular apples and they DO have pumpkins but we usually don't buy ours up there. So it should be a fun week and I am looking forward to it.

Hope everyone has a good day and week!

Good Morning!

Hope you all had a good weekend. We went to the MX track. DBF raced on Sunday. I don't know how we used to do it before we got the RV. It's so much nicer, we get there the night before so no more getting up early. We cook our own food so no more yucky snack bar food. Plus there's AC and heat and I can just sit and read or watch TV or crochet. :lmao:

DBF leaves this morning for two weeks. :sad1: He's going to Albuquerque to vist family. I'm going to be so bored. But at least this weekend my mom and I are going to Disneyland. :)

Sara are you guys going to a halloween party? Have fun either way!! :)

Hello Mel! We haven't heard how it went with MIL yet, guess it wasn't too bad since SIL didn't call back  unless she didn't tell her until today, I know MIL is off on Mondays.

blech, that has been my day of trying to figure out the SS stuff. We are so screwed! Some forms to fill out and decisions to make, cross fingers and kiss our own butts goodbye while we wait for a decision back. It's just a huge awful mess.

My sis called me twice today and left messages.. sorry but yes I was out ALL day, I do have a life beyond my apartment. And no I haven't made a choice on going to my cousin's bonfire/memorial service.

In light of what else we had to deal with today :headache: that is lowest on the totem pole of "things to do" since it is two weeks away.

Original plan was just sis and I going for the day, now her whole family is going and staying for the weekend. Which leaves me with riding with my brother (fine) and being stuck out at my parent's for the weekend --- uhhh no thanks!

I'm ok with my parents if I have dh and my kidlets as extra buffers.
I can NOT tolerate my dad's grumpiness on my own. No chance to escape when things get ugly.. and oh does it get ugly!

No one yells at my home, we talk, we quietly debate, we stew a little.
But no yelling, it's not allowed. It's not necessary.

My parents on the other hand tend to bicker, yell, tantrum, giant sigh, sarcastic remarks said in quiet voices (mutter mutter mutter) , bitter arguments... it makes me sick to my stomach.
And I KNOW that there will be arguments after the memorial. My dad already has his nose out of joint on how the service and bonfire was planned. And I know he will be unhappy that no one will want to stay out at the lake after the service. I don't even know if they are going. :confused3

Gah... Families can sure suck, eh?? We do lots of yelling around here. Its the only way to be heard over all the noise. But angry, fighting yelling?? No.. Not so much.

I am in the process of making Kaylee a tutu for her Halloween costume. GEEZ is it taking forever!! But... It will be so cute! I know they usually only take a few yards of tulle.. Maybe 7-10 or so.. But so far I have used 20 yards. It is so full!! She WANTS to be Padme (from star wars) But that just isnt going to happen. I dont know what to do for that costume! So she will be a punk rocker princess.. Super cute! Alex is going to be Darth Vader.. Jasmine is going to be Sleeping Beauty.. We had that costume left over from Kaylee. Vinny is going to be a Lego.. Easy costume! We are taking a big box and painting it and adding the sticky outy bits to it. Super cheap! Julie wants to be some sort of goth chick. I thought if we could figure out how to make Kaylee a Padme costume.. The twins could be Luke and Leia... But Alex has had some issues watching the movie where Padme has the twins.. then dies. SO I thought it might be to much for him.

Halloween costumes, fun!
My boys are too big now, I miss decorating the apt, creating something to wear from our stash of assorted dress up stuff. We had such a fun time with them on all of the holidays.:lovestruc

BIL called just now to ask if he can come over this weekend.. and dh had to ask "and who else?" a couple of times until he finally said it will be him, his gf, that we have not met, and MIL. Dh asked and sis too? well , uhh no. was the reply. As in they didn't ask if she wanted to come along  :sad2:
E is in a ripe mood with the SS fiasco today, he calls his sis and blabs that they are coming to visit and she is welcome to come too. :rotfl:
No way are we going to put up with them dishing on her, they did that before the wedding which royally pissed me off and dh tried to ignore it to keep the peace.. but vented after.

He had a chance to ask how MIL took the news, she was happy for her.
:thumbsup2

But when E asked how BIL took it..she said he didn't bother to return her call and made the comment "she doesn't need me to congratulate her"

What does that mean??

It means that he is a selfish jerk who only cares about himself.. and maybe is a little jealous about his sister moving on to a different stage in her life.. Maybe. Obviously I dont know the dude! Im glad your MIL was happy for her. Hopefully she can continue to be happy for them, keep her mouth shut and just support with a smile. I know.. Yeah right!:rotfl2: I know that wouldnt be my mom!

Morning and Happy Tuesday.

Oh Man B what a mess. Both the memorial stuff AND the stuff with your sis-n-law. Drama! UGH. Like I said that is one of the reasons we don't even go around dh's side of the family because it is MAJOR drama! And it is stuff I don't want my kids to be associated with and dh agrees. He still talks to his mom and occasionally his brother but he agrees that it is NOT a good situation up there and so we stay away. It is sad too like I said because I feel bad for the girls that they are missing out on a whole side of the family BUT I would rather they have NO relatives then ones that are awful and bad influences. :( And in the long run it is THEM who is missing out on two GREAT kids!

I hope everything works out for your cousin's memorial as well as for your sis-in-law. I am glad that at least the mom is taking it well and I am sure in time the brother will come around!

Not much on my plate for today. Just chores. Never did rain. They keep forcasting it but it never happens. I am sure ready for some!! It HAS cooled off though which is nice!!

Megan your costumes sound cute. We usually get the girls ones from the Disney Store the year before when they go on clearance but last year was the first year I forgot. We were at Disneyland last year at the end of October and I just never got around to doing it. Not to mention our particular store has gone to mostly stuff for smaller kids and so I doubt they would have big enough costumes anymore for my kids anyway and the girls have pretty much worn all the various costumes that they have anyway. In the past they used to have some unique ones but it is sad that they have seemed to move away from that. But anyway so this year it looks like we will be going to target or walmart. I have kind of looked a little but not seen much. I hope we kind find something decent!!

Anyway have a great day everyone!
