I need to find a new series now...any suggestions?:confused3

I haven't caught onto anything lately.
I finished Wicked awhile ago, odd.. very odd but it kept my interest. It's a hard read, not for casual read/ drop it and pick it up again style. But it was intriguing and it got better after slogging thru the first quarter.

My sis has given me odd bits that are part of series but she only gave me one or two..

Ones that reminded me of the Plum series:

Kate Collins: Flower shop mysteries..
the title I have is A Rose from the Dead
other ones are
Snipped in the Bud
Dearly Depotted
Slay it with Flowers

cute huh?

Jennifer Cruise and Bob Mayer : Agnes and the Hitman
Totally funny and silly, bit of romance tossed in.

And if you are into vampires...
Mary Janice Davidson : Undead and Uneasy
Formulaic, easy read, funny, modern.

I have an overflowing stack of these and my treasured historical romance.. trashy stuff I can't resist! Anyone want to do a box of books swap??

I find my trashy romance ones at the thrift store for 80¢, buying it on 50% or 25% off days. Cheap entertainment and no bus fare needed as we walk there. But once I read it.. now what do I do??

No problem, gives me an excuse to browse. :thumbsup2

I think using the library is gaining in popularity again. Blame it on the recession, it's a good budget friendly activity. There a few cities in the metro area that have funded their libraries better than years past. Brand new beautiful buildings, coffee shop and used book shop that supports the library. Nice meeting spot and pleasant surroundings instead of old dingy rooms. Some of the smaller suburbs don't have the funds or have ear marked for other plans.. too bad as those older locations SUCK in comparison. Limited hours, closing smaller branches, old books. I stepped into the little one my sis goes to in her city.. so tiny! She's number 200 on a waiting list for the latest Evanich book, she was 330 but a bunch of people dropped out. You would think if the list is that long.. wouldn't you buy more copies?
Woah thats crazy! over 300 people waiting for one book, yeah I think they should get more copies. I wouldn't bother with a wait list I would just go buy the book.
I always buy books but we have a cute book store called wee book inn, and you can trade two books for one book so it's great for me to get rid of my old books and get a new one to read. Plus all the wee book inns have cute little siamese kitties in them. They're so cute. The one by my house got his fur all shaved off for the summer. He looks hilarious.
I love the library. :lovestruc

I have been bringing my lunch to work so I sit in the breakroom and read. Book are expensive and I don't usually read a book more than once.

I am on # 16 of the Stephanie Plum series. Started these in December when DBF and I went on our cruise. I need to find a new series now...any suggestions?:confused3

I'll have to ask my sister what she's reading these days, she always finds the coolest series and almost always the ones she reads end up being turned into a movie later on. So she's got a knack for finding good ones.

I agree, that is crazy to have a waiting list of 300 people and not order more books. That's weird. :confused3 My co-worker likes to borrow books from the library and he told me that if it's out of stock, they order it from another library and get it in pretty quickly. I think that's cool. My older sister likes to borrow books from there too or if she wants a book she buys them from Costco because it's cheaper.

I receive weekly e-mail from Borders with their coupons for 40% off. That does help and I use that if I want to buy a book. I also check out the clearance section of Barnes & Noble. I just bought a book called "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" and it was on sale there for $5.98. I just started reading it but it's good to read.

I recently found Domo post-it notes at Borders and I used the coupon to lower the price :) I thought they were too cute to pass up but now I am hesitant to use them because they are so cute! :rotfl:

Last night I went to the mall with my little sister. We went into a pet store and I wanted to see one of the golden retrievers. It was a toffee colored one (they had 2 in the cage). The sales girl looked at me and said: "Are you over 18 years of age?" I said: "I'm 30." She said: "OMG! NO way!!! You look sooo young!! Do you get carded a lot???" :rotfl::lmao: I have to admit, it did make me feel good because she looked like she was in high school. :rotfl: Yes! Someone who didn't call me mam!! :rotfl: I played with the puppy...it was a female and only 3 months old. She was really hyper and then I pet her and rubbed her belly and she calmed down and was like: "Oohhh yeah" and totally relaxed. :lmao: I wish I could have taken her home but I couldn't.

Bernice- did that storm go away? That sounded dreadful how you described it.

Well nothing really happening on my side of the woods. Just working a lot, been very stressful this week and so I have been taking extra trips to DLR during the week! I normally don’t go till fri, sat and Sunday.. I did another weight in this past Saturday—I lost ANOTHER 2 pounds-so I am down to like 127! :yay: That’s a total of 27 lbs lost in less then 4 months! I think I am loosing too much too fast but I can’t seem to make it stop, I have tried pigging out at del taco but instead for a whole week I was sick to my stomach!! The other night I went to RFC in DTD, totally hated the place, the appetizer I had was a bit on the disgusting side….and the service stunk! I know it serves me right for not eating inside the parks…anyhow other then that here in California it’s been nice and sunny and warm and I love it!! and anybody that wants to get back in shape. Go to glowfest, and dance your fears and stress away!! Really it works!!! :) Lately they been doing a dance along thing—totally a lot of fun! Ohhh and I even met someone—actually I have known him for a while, he is a CM at DCA, works near the Wine country Trattoria—but he is super cute and super sweet.. and near my age! So that gives me more of a push to loose my chubbyness… :cutie:

WELL. It has been exciting around here the past few days. Having a teenager is going to SU-UCK!:lmao::lmao: Kidding. She is a good girl. And it looks like she will be here for two years instead of just one. We went down to the school, and they registered her as a junior, instead of a senior. Which was something they were kind of expecting. They have totally taken over taking care of my kiddos, and made me a tad obsolete right now! :lmao: Im down with that though. All the cooking and cleaning.. I havent done a whole ton of it.

The school stuff went way easier than I had anticipated.. They had me fill out the forms as her guardian, and her mom as emergency contact. So we wont have any trouble dealing with her school since they consider us her guardians. I was worried. We have power of attorney.. I need to read it and see what all that means. I think it means we have us a new dd.;):lmao: Anyways... All is going well now. We are having a good time. Elke is freaking amazing. She is doing all kinds of crafts with the big kids, and the babies just love her! Yesterday we went down to Dh's work and they got a tour.

Nothing big going on my end as far as a Friday goes..i will be heading to DLR after work and I am hoping to “bump” into the hot cm dude again(read above if you missed it). ;)

I shed two more pounds this week on top of the other 2 I already lost…I am eating I don’t know how I am loosing so fast, anyhow it might be all the spicy food I been eating.. who knows :rolleyes1

anyhow soo the plans for the DLR with my mom and her sister and my Suzanne is going smoothly, because we have no plan! I hate not having a plan, I need a plan with a complete schedule of what we are going to do and where we will eat etc—but oh well, so I am almost finished with our matching shirts, I got the Mickey heads to iron on, but I haven’t got the shirts! I am really dreading this “trip” with my mom because there are times she and I do not get along and I want to strangle he and she probably wants to strangle me also! :scared1: :)

and I also found this trashy romance novel in the book closet, Its been in there for a while, but it was about a widowed farmer and she hires a farm hand and they you know fall in love and he helps her save her farm and then in the end they get married…and I didn’t realize how GRAPHIC :scared1: trashy romance novels can be...if you know what I mean…I finished the book way to fast and now I have nothing to read for the rest of the summer.. so I guess I will re-read my Kathy Griffin book( and yes it is a funny book ,and yes I loved it the first time) ..haa haa TIP IT!--if you love Kathy Griffin then you’ll know what I am talking about!

Anyhow how I have also been eating my way through DCA, trying new things etc, I tried the 3 out of the 4 appetizers at the wine country trattoria lounge –loved them to every last bite! Other then ..just been chillin like a villain! Oh by the way .. anybody see the new baby goats yet at DLR? I did, they so adorable!!! :woohoo: :yay:

I feel you on the mom thing! My mom makes me bonkers sometimes!! I swear I could chuck her out the window.. But in two weeks, I will be the mother of a 17yo girl.. SO think I will get mine in SPADES. :lmao: I dont really like vacationing with my mom.. We just went to WDW in May with her, and it was stressful. But thankfully she helped out with the twins. Otherwise.. We would have done a lot of hanging out at the hotel!

My mom is sooooo overbearing, and like she is at that age that you can tell her one thing—but in a hour she forgets that that one thing was. yep, it’s very frustrating!! It annoys me to high heaven—so I am so not looking forward to that! she is very difficult to deal with also… I am opposite thank god—I am easy flowing,

i have noticed recently that certain people i know are difficult to deal with at times(but i deal with it) and have become oblivous toward me, and pretty much ignore the fact that i am around. And you know it's like you try and be a friend to those people and what do you get? nothing in return, not even a simple friendship...oh well i guess that is life..

hey kelmac-how is everything!!? how's your mom and her "vacationing adventures" ♥ ?

Sorry Christina...
Neiman Marcus has already flipped to fall/ winter gear (noooooo  it's not even labor day yet!!!) and their clearance floor didn't have any hats.

Sak's outlet had some of the other sunhats, but not the pom pom tassel one. They had quite a few Juicy purses/ totes..wow $200 even after the discounts!!??! :faint:

I think you maybe just have to be creative and find a pom pom tassel scarf or something to tie around a sun hat? The same look but not Juicy? I bet our uber creative Pix can figure out what would work. :thumbsup2

I found some cookbooks and trashy romance novels at the library. :lovestruc
One of the cookbooks is Clara, the very old lady who had cooking demos on You Tube of depression era cooking. It was a fun read as she had a story about her childhood with each recipe. Very simple recipes that today you would think .. that's not enough to be a main entree! But that's all they had and maybe it was a healthier way of life considering she's in her nineties.

Today we walked to to the thrift store, stopped at the grocery and back home again. I was sooooooo tired and sore when we got done. It's not terribly hot but the sun zaps everything out of me. We got a handsaw at the thrift store to make the boys' bunk bed into two beds. Got the beds apart, just a little uneven, pointed out to dh and he replied "I do not beeeeeeeep care, it's done!" and glared at me :rotfl:
Now the boys are to finish cleaning their room, yet I find them hanging out in the living room.. grrrrrrrrrrr :headache: While E sorts through, happily tossing things out.
Eventually it will be clean.. or so I keep telling myself as I am forbidden to take over. :rolleyes1

Hopefully we will be going to Uptown Art Fair on Saturday. They block off the streets, artists display their wares (plus a juried show) and other groups have tables/ tents of give aways.

They also have art fairs at two other parks on the same dates and free bus transportation between all three.

Loring Park which is downtown Minneapolis (upscale neighborhood, known to be a gay friendly area, it's across the street form the sculpture garden with the famous Cherry Spoon ) and Powderhorn Park which is in a south Mpls neighborhood (low income area but has a fiercely strong neighborhood association and partnerships with various groups/ clinics, etc) .

Each location has a different feel, Powderhorn is family oriented and has booths about resources in the area. Loring Park is laid back, a little bit trendy, organic crunchy feel. Uptown is more like a street fair with the art show being more of a side attraction.

Decided not to go to the art fair, it rained overnight and now it's steamy working on being hot yucky. Plus when the guys tore apart the bedroom, they left a huge mess in the living room that is still not picked up. I can't stand it! E is working on it with the boys and hopefully my living room will be tidy yet again by the end of the day. We generated three large bags of trash, gave away a bunch of stuff and sorted out pens/pencils.. I don't need to do any school supply shopping this year.... or any year soon.

Feels good to get rid of junk. :goodvibes

Aww thanks for looking for me  I probably could make something similar myself. I really liked the brim on the tassel hat as well so it might be tricky finding a hat similar that I like well enough to put tassels on. I will begin my search!!

I hope you find a hat that looks similar. :) Bernice is right, I do have a crafty idea!

:rotfl: I would find a hat that I like and just go to Joann's Fabric store and search their trim aisles. I have seen some trim that has a somewhat tassle/pom pom look to it. They always have coupons to get 40% off so you could get a yard or 2 yards and have them cut it for you. I would use a hot glue gun to stick the trim on around the hat. Just an idea. :)

Here is a coupon for Joann's that is good until August 14th: http://www.joann-mail.com/J1094FTL/coupons_only.html?r=10778_337191&i=J1094FTL033&bc1=00D1CCE9771AE7554D479F7B93A4561101000000E81DF469CE16DD22CB89DDC9B47923A2C5D62C3140BB38C19B698FBAD00F40BFB5DEB4A543134D86F247D49ECDA39111D65BACFEB6DCA4606D7B17AF1463B16A

Why? Why? Why? Must it be utterly evil and hot outside.. ugh!

We are all holed up inside with every fan and ac running. It was fine until the sun began to bore down on us, we get the afternoon sun beating at our windows. After 3 it is blazing hot hot hot!
Thank goodness the ac has been on non stop, keeps the humidity down inside.

I made eggplant parmesean yesterday, it was okay.. but I don't think we really like eggplant and it was waaaaaaaaaay too fussy to make. I like simple, quick prep type of meals. I don't mind if it takes long to cook, but I don't want to stand in my tiny kitchen and fuss over it for hours. Fix it and forget it is more my style.

Lazy is the theme of the day. No one was up and about until noon, I had curled into the recliner and read by the morning light for a few hours.. spooked Eloy as he didn't know I was there.
Watching movies on Netflix, he chooses the weirdest movies. But whatever makes him happy is fine :love2:

hey everyone!! it has been awhile since I have been on here been planning my WDW trip so hope everyone is well !!

MY BEST friend of 4 years, she got breast cancer in December last year, tey immediately put her on keemo, she lost her hair and went through the whole nine yards,9 weeks of keemo etc, well she just had her double masectomy—and I saw her last night and she looks great up and about etc..she is VERY lucky she beat it!!! anyhow so with that note, it’s good to takE in what you have in life and not ponder and stress over the things that are not a big deal in life and really just accept that what you have in life can change at a drop of a pin, don’t take life for granted!! Thank god my friend she is lucky, but you know some woman aren’t.and she is 47.

Hi!

My mom and I went to Disneyland yesterday. The weather was nice and it wasn't too crowded. We didn't do too many rides, mostly just pin traded and looked around the stores. We had lunch at WWS. I had the chicken nachos and they were very good. :thumbsup2

We saw the cutest calico kitty there. As soon as I find my card reader I will post some pictures.

We left around 7:30pm since we both had to work today so we still haven't seen WOC. We are planning to see it on Sept. 5th (the day of my race).

We have decided to buy the picnic meals for $12.99 (AP discount). I just hope I can stay up till 9:00pm that night becasue I have to be at DL at 4:30am that morning for the race which starts at 6:00am. :scared1:

I hope you all have a great day!

I'm glad that you and your mom had a great time :) Did she find the Mickey crocs? :) I haven't tried the nachos at WWS. Every time I decide to I end up choosing something else. I will try it next time I eat there. I've seen cute kitties walking around there too but not recently. That's cool that you spotted one.

I haven't seen WOC either. I just haven't bothered to try but hopefully I can watch it at some point. I'm not in a rush to see it. :)

I was at DL Saturday afternoon and had a good time. The weather was probably the same for me as when you went. It wasn't too hot and it was nice out. I did some pin trading too and got some cool pins:

23r8nyu.jpg

A couple CM's and guests in the park stopped me and wanted to see my lanyard. They were happy to see my silhouette pin collection. I finally got all of them. It took quite some time but I'm happy it's completed. :yay:

243p1sl.jpg

I love Figment and collecting pins of him. He's always been one of my favorites since I went to WDW when I was younger. :) I also got a mystery pin that just came out. It's a Donald E ticket one that I think is cool. Apparently there are 5 in this set.

I bought my little sister a cute Chip N' Dale LE pin. I'm adding it to her b-day present of the Chip N' Dale nightshirt. I also got her a Chip N' Dale pin of them riding on HM. What I found out yesterday was that the pin glows in the dark! I did not know that and it didn't say that on the pin. I discovered that it did when I went into the pin store in NOS. :rotfl: I immediately called my sister and told her and she was like: "NO WAY!" I had her try it and she is all surprised. :rotfl:

Sarah-I'm really excited for you about the half-marathon. I know you will do great! :yay::dance3: :cheer2: Did you find any cool pins?

We did find the shoes but they didn't fit her (she has big feet :rotfl:). She did buy some patches and is going to make her own and then just order the Crocs insoles to put in them.

I bought a Tink pin book to put some of my pins in. I have a bullitin (sp) board but it is way to crowded. :rotfl:

I saw a Dooney purse that I have to have. :rotfl: I think I'm going to get it next month after my race.

It's bigger than my white one so I can use it as an everyday purse. It's $210 but with my AP discount I can get it for around $190 OTD.

I also purchased this pin:
!B)yOTCgCGk~$(KGrHqF,!hEEw5g95lwiBMO809MUOw~~_35.JPG

I had heard they were sold out so I was very happy when I spotted them behind the counter in the gift shop in the CA Grand hotel. :)
