Chatterbox Thread-Cmon in and Jabber! Everyone is Welcome!

Cute pins!!

One of these days we are going to go thru our two pin bags and frame up a few to display.

Well, our apt manager told us that the other apt is not as nice as our current one. We spoke to the guys that live there now and they mentioned something about burn holes in the carpet  and they have failed to inform the owner that the AC is dead..
"oh we're moving in a few weeks" uhhh yeah, sure but it's over 90 today!

But it also makes us wonder how many other repairs would be needed that they didn't bother telling the owner??
We will have a chance to peek soon and make a decision.

It's in the 90's today, but the humidity is not that bad. Felt kind of good on my joints but not enough to want to walk or be outside for very long. Took the bus up to Walmart. I wandered the store while Eloy walked further to his smoke shop (yes I know.. he hasn't quit yet, but he has cut back). We used transfers and went back home. Just long enough of a trip to be out in the world and not long enough to be totally uncomfortable.

Eloy was a bit "dry" after treatment yesterday, I was worried he was going to pass out today as he lost quite a bit more just in sweat.. ewwwwwwwwwww

Justin has a parade today, we thought about going but with the heat.. ummm sorry Justin no. They are planning to be out of uniform for this one, it's just too hot to wear hats, gloves, pants and long sleeves (in dark colors). Their uniforms are not the old wool type, they are lightweight polyester/ rayon. I couldn't imagine marching in the summer in those old uniforms :faint:

I agree with you, I would be concerned about other repairs also. :scared: Marching in heat does not sound fun. :faint: I hope your DH is okay  It's been in the 80's here but there are times when there is a nice breeze outside. I still can't wait until summer is over. I HATE summer and just love winter and fall and all the leaves changing and getting to wear scarves! :teeth:

have I wver told all of you that my dh seems to have an invisible sign that says "freaks welcome" ?

He went outside late at night this week, I came down later and he tells me" you missed it"
I'm thinking, oh great now what?

A green and white taxi pulled up, there was a woman in the back but she didn't look at dh.
The taxi driver asks " are you waiting for Brandy?" uhh no " or maybe Ariel?" uhh no... and he drove off.

Which makes a person scratch their head...
1. wouldn't a taxi driver ask "are you waiting for a cab?"
2. he already had a passenger so why would he go out of his way to go up our drive and ask dh?
3. if the lady in the cab wasn't sure of the address, wouldn't she be looking thru the window at DH to confirm it was the right person/place?
4. Brandy and Ariel totally sound like stripper (or prostitute) names.

see what I mean?
" freaks welcome here" in big bold letters stamped across his body, screaming out to any and all. And uhh yeah, I will never call a green and white taxi late at night :scared1:

I just realized it's Friday the 13th.

That is a cute pin book :goodvibes I love Tink! :cutie: I got the full pirate set too (mickey and friends as the POTC characters). I managed to trade for it and was shocked at the sticker price in the stores for the full set :faint: I like Goofy as Davy Jones and Pluto as the dog :teeth:

I really like that Tink pin you have with the eyepatch that says Wicked Wench. That is hilarious! :rotfl: I should post pics of my pins. I have a lot too. :lmao: You should post pics of all your pins too ;) Loved to see them!

A few years ago I also traded for the all the Pirate pins, I think I got them all in one day or one weekend.

I'm thinking about getting an other book when I'm there over Labor Day Weekend.

Cute pins!!

One of these days we are going to go thru our two pin bags and frame up a few to display.

Thanks!

I want to frame some of mine too. I've seen some cute set ups with cute scrapbook paper and stuff over on the DISgns threads.

Happy Friday,

Sarah (Moto)- I didn't realize it was Friday the 13th either! :scared1:

Maybe that explains why I didn't sleep too well last night. :sad2:

My desk at work is swarming with papers and it never seems to clear. :headache:Every time I manage to file stuff away it is very short-lived. :faint: It's been busy this week, which is good but at times is just overwhelming. I definitely need a Jamba break!
4pofqzn.jpg

Yesterday I went to my favorite shaved ice place. I invited my little sister and she invited 3 of her friends. I thought, sure, why not, the more the merrier. :rotfl: I used my gift card so it was all good. :) We went to Borders and I had a coupon and was able to buy some cute kawaii print wrapping paper. I needed some to wrap my little sister's b-day presents. I can't believe she is going to be 14! :faint: It's frightening to think that I can teach her how to drive soon. :scared: I got her 4 gifts: 1 t-shirt that I got for free with my purchase online, 1 Chip N' Dale nightshirt and 1 Chip N' Dale LE pin, and lastly, I got her a box of variety flavored lollipops from See's Candies (which she can share). :teeth:

Speaking of Jamba Juice, I read they have an offer to accept any and all McDonald's smoothie coupons.. including the free ones that were in the paper a few weeks ago and free ones that were peel off coupons on large size pop/ soda.
I think it's only valid until 8/15 (which is when the freebie coupons expire anyway).

Walked up to the thrift store, Eloy found a track jacket of a brand we never heard of.. came home to look it up and it's some hip hop/ skater brand called LRG. New it's $55- $75. This is the second time he has found an odd brand that turned out to be some trendy expensive wear.

Next was Chipotle, to share.. mmmmmm
And the grocery store..
Stacking a special Box Tops promo of $5 off wyb 10 products and coupons. Plus it generates a 50 box top code (worth $5 for the schools) and for every 5 nature valley bars it gave me $3 coupon back, every 5 fruit snacks gave me $3.50 back. Woohooo!
I hid the bars and fruit snacks, shhhhhh. If I didn't my teenagers would eat them all in one week!

As much as Eloy grumbled about going, he was grinning ear to ear as we strolled back out paying very little for a cart full of goodies.
We both were grumbly by the time we got home.. ugh I hate this hot weather and humidity!

Hi guys!:goodvibes

So much is going on.

Megan, I didn't have time to read all the way back. So tell me more about Elke. Is she Frelan's DD?
Sounds like you are liking having your MIL around. How nice and refreshing. Most of the time, it is the other way around. :headache:

Sarah, Love the pins and purse. Wish I could join you at the WoC show. popcorn::

Sarah/Funball, Are you on a special diet? Weight Watchers? I'm wearing my blinged out fiip-flips right now. Just thought I'd share that with you.

Bernice, From your description, not so sure about the other apartment. I hope the trade off for no sun would be worth it. Also, I bet those were hookers, thinking that Eloy was someone else looking for a "fun" time. :scared1: :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Pix, Alison and Kelly, Christina and Stich,

Elke is his step mother.. and Julie is his little sis. I LOVE Elke. SHe is freaking awesome. Julie is a pretty standard teenage girl. She is really clingy with Frelan right now, and his isnt used to it... I think it might be getting to him a bit. He is trying to show her that he needs to spend time with the kiddos too.. But hey. It will wear off with time, right??

We tried to go up to Mt. Rainier today.. OMG!! There was some sort of accident on the highway up there and the road was shut down for 3-5 hours.. Us, and EVERYONE else turned around and left. It was crazy. We went to Pt. Defiance instead. It was crazy hot today. 90 something.

Hello from San Diego. I am here for the weekend and it's been fun so far. My little sis loved the presents I gave her. I went to my favorite shopping spot and got to ride on a horse-drawn carriage for the first time. The driver was a nice Irish dude and he was really nice. He told us that when he was in NY a few years ago he drive Ringo Star and Yoko. Pretty sweet :smooth: He sang us a nice Irish song which was cool and gave us extra minutes since it was my sister's bday. I rode on a carousel that went fast. I hadn't been on it in years. I took a lot of pics and u can see it on my FB. :) hope u r all having a good weekend.

The guys "volunteered" for a shift in the bingo tent as part of our city's festival. Justin's marching band gets paid for each volunteer and I think part of the proceeds from the Bingo fees. Volunteering under duress.. but hey it's all good.

Eloy bought me another Welcome sign for my collection :goodvibes
All metal farm style with a rooster and the letters hanging below. It reminds me of a weather vane.
He bought himself a cool spinner ring.

Mornin ladies!

Megan, Sorry for the name mix up. So where is Julie from? From what you have said about her clinging to Frelan, it sounds like she needs alot of love and hugs. After awhile she will probably let up. So is Elke German?

I'm watching Luca today! :goodvibes

Melody! How are you? We miss you around here!

I went to SD over the weekend. It was okay but a misunderstanding caused some family drama :sad2: It's all good now I guess, got that resolved. My parents stayed an extra day with my little sister and her 2 friends. My older sister had to return to work today (she was on a 2 week vacation and just got back from Sydney last week). She showed me a picture of a bird she saw that is actually the deadliest bird in the world. It can kick a person to death. :scared1:

I rode the train home by myself for the first time yesterday. I never rode the Amtrak before. I was trying to push down the handle on my suitcase and needed to go upstairs (downstairs is for elderly people and handicapped) and just told the person behind me to go ahead of me. Well he was really nice and a skater dude and said: "Would you like me to help you with that?" I said: "Okay, thank you!" He carried it up the stairs for me which was really nice. I didn't follow him into the car he was sitting in because it was super crowded. :rotfl: My cousin texted me and said I should have! :lmao: He was cute though. I texted my cousin and said: "Hmm...maybe I should pretend I am on the way to Hogwarts!" and she said: "Do you see a fat guy with a beard?" Later on I texted her and said that I didn't see a man with a beard holding a lantern and she said: "That's because you didn't get on at Platform 9 3/4!" :lmao: Yes, I am a Harry Potter nerd and proud of it! :teeth: I saw a Gryffindor scarf in a shop in SD but it cost too much. If it were cheaper I would have bought it! :teeth:

After I got on the train, there was a stop we made in the middle of nowhere. They announced that they had to kick someone off because "apparently this person thought that they didn't need to buy a ticket!"

My sis called today to tell me that mom had called...
our cousin K is on life support due to a brain aneurysm.

I was like oh really? .. that sucks.. :confused3

It's not like we are close at all, I haven't seen him since I got married. He lived in the states at that time, had just came back from Germany - newly married and they had a little boy. Few years later they moved back to Germany and just a few years ago they divorced. Eventually he moved back to the states, I guess, as he was in a hospital in Texas. I didn't even know because our family just doesn't talk anymore. Which is freakishly bizarre as my parents and Aunt/ Uncle live just a few miles apart out in the boonies. In the young growing up years we were all very close. The family relationships became a bitter pill, my dad has a hard time getting along with my Uncle. Or maybe getting along with anyone? sis swears he is an undiagnosed Aspie. :rolleyes1 nah, he's just a grumpy ole puss who will outlive us all!

Anyway, it doesn't sound good. I'm more concerned about my Aunt and Uncle and their family. I know it must be very hard to see him in this condition and to make the difficult decisions that may come.

That's awful Bernice. I'm so sorry about your cousin. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.:hug::hug::grouphug:

Elke is German. She totally freaks Frelan out! We went to the beach and she started just changing out in the open and I think my husband about had a heart attack!:lmao: She kept her shirt on, but still.. YOu know us prudish americans!:rotfl2: SHe leaves in a few days.. SCARY! Then it will be us.. and HER. We are taking her to get her permit tomorrow.. I really though we had a few more years before driving lessons started!:lmao:

Oh B. Im sorry! I hope things work out okay and your Aunt and Uncle will be alright.:hug:

:rotfl2: I guess somewhere in Scotland, not so far from where I lived, you could take the hogwarts express train. I don't really know where it takes you but I always wanted to go on it but never had a chance.

I hope your aunt and uncle are dealing okay. These things are so hard. My friend is losing her grandpa right now to cancer and then her grandma got into a serious car accident so the whole family is on pins and needles waiting. I think sometimes its the waiting to see what happens that's almost worse than the outcome.

:scared1: Those europeans are so open when it comes to nudity and bodies. I remember my first trip to Nice in france, there aren't designated nude beaches because everybody is topless or nude and it's just the way it is. It made me feel more confident in my swim suit to see how confident everyone else was naked.

At our mall here in town Victoria Secret opened up, it's the first Victoria secret store in Alberta so it's very popular. Two days after opening people were in store for an average of six hours because of wait times for changing rooms and then to pay. Not to mention that you have to wait to get in. So I went yesterday because I need a new bra, I still had to wait in lines but I had nothing else to do so I decided to check it out. When I got in the store some guy in there was buying everything off the shelves for his lady. He took everything I wanted to look at. I was so ticked off. His lady friend was a size B34 and he kept shouting "I need this in a B34 and this and this, and bring me everything else you think I should get" it was ridiculous. He literally cleared out a whole section. I think in the future I'll just order from the catalogue if I feel so inclined to shop victoria secret.

:scared1::scared1: :faint: for her changing in front of you guys. That is kinda funny though because we don't have nude beaches here and people change in tents or in their car or something. :rotfl: Is she clingy to him because she's not close to her dad? Just curious about that. :confused3 It sounds harmless but at the same time, it also sounds like some personal boundaries needs to be set up. Family or not, I don't want people clinging to me like velcro but that's just me.

:rotfl2: I guess somewhere in Scotland, not so far from where I lived, you could take the hogwarts express train. I don't really know where it takes you but I always wanted to go on it but never had a chance.

I can see what you mean about feeling more confident at the beaches. I don't think I would want to go to a nude beach. I think I'm too conservative and might pass out! :rotfl:

Dang, that's crazy about your Victoria's Secret store. I wouldn't have the patience or tolerance to wait that long. :faint: It's kinda like a Tokiodki store that opened up in Hollywood. My friend and I went there last year and they had crammed too many people into their store, which was a definite fire hazard. I don't know how they fit them all in there. :sad2: We open the door and they scream that we are not allowed inside because they have too many people. They also have suckish hours and close ridiculously early, which makes it difficult for people to go there after work hours. I never bothered to go back and the sales people are rude according to reviews online.

I stopped buying bras from Victoria's Secret because they don't give me enough oomph. :rotfl: They are cute though and I do have some that I bought through their catalog that were on sale. Just an FYI though, if you buy stuff online you can't exchange or return it to the stores. I tried that once and they told me I would have to ship it back. They told me it was because their item #'s and tags are not the same. That's the only drawback I had. I also sought a bra consultant when I was visiting my cousin in NC. The lady told me I was a 40DD!!! :scared1::eek::scared1: I don't think so!! I went to another place and the sales lady said: "Girl! That's my bra size and I'm a big woman!! Whoever told you that must be smokin a little something something!" :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

That sucks about that guy grabbing all the merchandise. I thought Victoria's Secret was like Starbucks....it's EVERYWHERE! :rotfl: I did go to the mall to meet up with my friend last night and I exchanged a tote back in Victoria's Secret. I like their Vanilla lotion too and their Pink sweat pants are comfy. :goodvibes I hope you get a chance to shop there without all the crowds and hassle.

Christina- I always thought...hmmm..Christina lived in Scotland, she's closer to Hogwarts! :laughing::rotfl: J/k! ;)

Last night my friend and I went to the mall where they opened up a new Kiehl's store. They sell lotions. lip balms, shampoos, etc. Well the sales lady was venting on how this lady allowed her daughter to squeeze all the lotions and various products out of tubes of items that were at the front counter. The mom did nothing but smile and thought her daughter was adorable!! :scared1: She ended up writing off a ton of items as damaged she said. That's just awful and seriously, I thought the rule when we were kids was "Keep your hands to yourself" and "don't touch!" :confused3

Thanks everyone. I haven't heard anything more yet, I'm going with the no news is a good thing theory.

 Yep, we are some prudish people in the states. We can flaunt only so much skin. Heck I got the stares from people when I nursed my boys. Oh C'mon! The kid has to eat.. geesh!

Pix, 40DD? really? That is big lady size.. I should know since I uhhh have to add another D to that. :rolleyes1 Though I have heard that women tend to wear too small of a size. As for oomph, I need no more of that thank you.
Victoria Secret doesn't carry my size on a regular basis. Besides, full figure women should wear full figure bras.. those cutesy demi bras don't work well to "contain", don't want to scare anyone! :rotfl:

I stacked a bunch of coupons and saved over $100 at Target today. :yay:

My local regular Target now carries a limited amount of fresh produce, dairy, meat. This format was tested at the downtown location, it did so well they are expanding it throughout most of the Target stores. As part of the re-format Target sent out some great coupons in the mail.. free eggs, $1 off produce, $2 off steak . AND there are loads of really good printables on their web site. Lots of free, almost free after stacking with regular coupons on groceries. :lovestruc

Plus there is a printable $10 off bath furniture coupon.
I bought a metal towel rack with two shelves for $4.95 after coupon, finally a place to store my extra TP, tissue, and q tips! :)

I haven't gone to Target for a few months, it was fun!

Oh yes.. what is up with the kids behaving badly in stores lately???
Not every child, not every parent.. but a lot more lately.
I was peeved when I noticed a mom that ignored her kid being naughty at the thrift store yesterday. His younger sibling was in the basket of the cart while he spun the cart round and round in the aisle. Nearly crashing into the clothing racks and generally being a nuisance, loud and in the way of other shoppers.
The mom glanced at her boy, tossed something in the cart, then went back to shopping. :confused3 Really??

Other kids playing on the floor in the middle of the aisle, zooming past people's toes with cars. I almost stepped on one of them. :sad2:

And what the heck is with parents yelling at their little ones to "shut up, you got nothing to cry about"? I'm talking two and under little ones, gee maybe because you are dragging them out to shop when they are tired, need a nap, need a snack, need to be away from all the noise of a crowded bus or store?? Get a life lady!

I realize my boys are teens now, I'm out of the little kid loop.. but I don't remember either of my two behaving that way while shopping. Tired? okay, we're going home. (or stop somewhere quiet to settle into the stroller).
Hungry? snack time! Bored? toys in the bag.

:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3
