Chatterbox Thread-Cmon in and Jabber! Everyone is Welcome!

Hello! :goodvibes

I feel so bad, not keeping up with you guys. I did read that it is Alison's and Frelan's birthday! SOooooo...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :bday: :cake:

Also a very Happy Anniversary to Megan!!!

Hi ya Bernice, Kelly and PIX!

I'm getting ready for our annual beach camping trip. We are leaving tomorrow.

Have a nice day! :flower3:

Good morning and Happy Wednesday!!

After I posted yesterday I realized I forgot to say Happy Birthday to Allison!! I hope you had fun and did something fun for it!!! Also happy birthday to Megan's dh and happy anniversary!!

Hi Mel!!! Have fun on your camping trip!! Come visit us more often! I scan the diva thread but very rarely post so it is nice to see you over in our neck of the woods. ;)

Last night Shane got home and decided to run over to his business partners house and I hadn't fixed dinner yet so I just ran out to grab a taco and decided to stop at the video store because Clash of the Titans came out and we had been meaning to see it in the theaters and never made it. I rented that and the bounty hunter. So we watched clash last night and will watch bounty today. Clash was good but WAY different than the old 70's version. I am sentimental and liked the old one a bit better although it was cheesy it had more personality. But I liked this one too as it was more large and theatrical. I am anxious to see bounty hunter as I LOVES me some Gerard Butler!!! I hope it is good!

Anyway finally heard from my aunt and of COURSE they have decided to have the get together on sat and at the SAME time as the girls skating soooo they will have to miss it. But it is important that we get together with the family because as I said we VERY rarely get to see these guys and the girls will still have fun playing with the little cousins. So I am looking forward to that.

Anyway today is more chores round here as is tomorrow and then back to work on Fri, the party on Saturday and perhaps Sat night or Sun we may try again to see Sorcerer's apprentice. Not sure. Plans always seem to get made but then they always seem to wash out at the last minute LOL.

Then next week soccer starts so it is back to the craziness but as I said it is only 2 days a week so not too bad and practice is later than swim so we should hopefully have more time for dinner although it is farther away so we shall see how it all works out. Luckily as I said we don't have any games till sept although we DO have our seeding tournament on august 28th so that is a grueling day. The girls have to play like 3 games in one day but school comes before then so that will be the next excitement :)

Anywho that is about it for me. Hope you all have a good day!

Hi everyone!! Happy Birthday to Alison and Frelan! And Happy Anniversary to miss Megan!

I've never tried Jamba juice either, but I'm not entirely certain that we have them here. I'll have to check.

I love camping, I hope you guys have a great time!

Really? You haven't had Jamba either? Good idea, you could check their website for locations. Hopefully they have one near you so you can try it :) If not, you could always hit up the one in DTD next time you go to DL :)

Shawna likes the same drink as I do. I don't think she will go near the Aloha Pineapple. :rotfl: ;)

I have recently converted over to Coffee Bean. I prefer their drinks over Starbucks and their drinks are tasty :)

 Coffee Bean!!! I'm a N. Cali girl so I don't get to visit them often

Jamba - yesterday at Costco I found they sell a big pack of Strawberries Wild frozen mix. Blend it up with apple juice or milk - yum! Much cheaper than Jamba too :) Now, if only they sold more flavors....

I'm so screwed...:sad1:

Last month I got a speeding ticket amd this morning I got another. :scared1:

I know it's my fault but still, I'm so upset. The first one is almost $400 and who knows how much this one will be. And the worst part is that I can't go to traffic school becasue it hasn't been more than 18 months since my last speeding ticket so that means my car insurance is going to go up too. :sad2:

I have been looking online and was thinking about trying to fight them but I was speeding so I don't know how that works. Plus you still have to pay the fine and if the judge rules in your favor then you get the money back. But the way I see it is if the court already has my money why would they give it back.

Awww Sarah, I'm sorry that happend to you  You are right about going to traffic school to clear the 2nd offense. :( I remember I got a speeding ticket a couple years ago and I marked on the paper that I got in the mail saying that I would take traffic school. Well the court house screwed up and next thing you know, I received a summons to appear in court because I wanted to contest it. I told them I did not mark that box that I wanted to fight it but there was nothing they could do. I showed up and the judge called my name and some other names. They told us the officers who issued us the tickets were not present so they let us go and the ticket didn't count.

I hope that your insurance doesn't go up. :( I hope your day gets better for you.

Im glad you guys feel my pain! We have tried chore charts with the biggers, and it did not work! But it might now that they are older. Maybe I need to bust that out! It was to funny.. My husband hid outside all day yesterday, because he was afraid of me. :lmao: He kept peeking in at me, and I would give him death stares.. :rotfl2:

I failed years ago with chore charts...but started them up again on Monday. So far (yes only day 3) it is working wonderfully!!! My house is clean - and I don't have to do it!!! They clean up their toys, trash, laundry - and then I assigned them a detail cleaning project for every day!!! Lets just hope it keeps working.....
She also said that she was planning on watching the kids for our anniversary. :scared1: WHAT??? No one has EVER offered to babysit for us before!! :cool1: I told her she might want to spend some time with the kids before making that offer!:rotfl2: The twins might scare her off!
:thumbsup2 :woohoo::banana::woohoo:

I haven't kept track of everyone's birthdays this year, I have various cards in my basket but sent not a one all year.. sad sad sad... I think it's time for me to haul it out and send "Hi there!" cards off again! Address updates anyone?? I need Staley and Dizzy, Kelly if she wants to share. :)

Yuck Yuck Yuck,
92 F, 60% humidity, 77 dew point and wind
It's so GROSS!!!!
Imagine being wrapped in a hot wet woolen blanket, soupy air quality but wind that pushes even more yuck slime toward you .
With the humidity it makes it feel like 105 :faint:

Day started off wet humid but the temp wasn't bad, afternoon hit and ewwwwwww!

As the night goes on it will drop to 80's but increasing to OVER 90% humidity. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

Thunderstorms later! :yay:

I have all the extra fans pushing the cooler air from the living room to the bedroom for Eloy to dialyze. His center doesn't want him using bagged fluid (stingy bast.... grumble grumble) and the unit is too heavy to push with 30+ liters on board, otherwise I would beg him to run out in the living room.

I may just hunt out the air mattress and sleep in the living room tonight.

I had to turn the heater on yesterday morning on my way to work!!! And I really needed a light jacket at Alec's football practice. I love this time of year - high in the 70's, low in the 50's, with a nice cool monsoon rain about noon everyday :thumbsup2

Not that this will suprise anyone - but we don't have Jamba Juice here :rotfl2: Then again, we don't have anything here :rotfl: (We do have a Starbucks in our Safeway :thumbsup2)

Ouch - that sucks - I have never tried to fight a ticket - so can't help you there.

I have heard from ALOT of people that they went to court to fight the ticket and the cop didn't show up so it was thrown out.

I just learned that only 3% of people fight their tickets. I am going to try and do a trial by written declaration. If the cop doesn't turn in his report on time it will be dismissed. If the judge doesn't dismiss the ticket I will still have the option to go into court and try one more time to fight it.

Urgh....drama in the Dizzy house...

So...football practice last night. DS had a blast - but DH came home super cranky. DS cannot do a jumping jack - we even tried to help him practice at home. DH is so bummed he wants to pull him from football!!! I don't know what to do for the poor kid - he gets PT and OT too from school - but it just clearly shows that there is something else wrong with the poor kiddo and I don't know what it is :sad1:

 Maybe its just a coordination thing. Kaylee cant do one to save her life.. But she is like we. We are both as clumsy and uncoordinated as people can get.

Gah! Thats a bummer!! I had a friend in high school got two in a ROW. She was all mad from getting one, she drove off, and got caught speeding like five minutes later by ANOTHER cop.

Dont they just give you the ticket when they pull you over? Its been a LONG time since I had a ticket, but they just gave it to my on the stop. I went to court after I had an accident to get my ticket reduced.. Again.. A VERY long time ago! And I got a $400. ticket down in half. but Im sure it works different in Cali.

I got the weirdest message on my facebook thingy today. Some girl I went to middle school with! She was all.. I am looking for a friend that lived in Grand Forks North Dakota during middle school.. Is that you?? Umm.. Yeah. But I have no idea who you are! I didnt live there for long, like a year and a half I guess? I dont know. I wrote her back, asking her to refresh my memory a little. OMG. I think I know who she is. It just hit me. Hmmmmm... I wonder..

It totally could be - John and I both have our coordination issues but with totally different things :lmao:

I have been doing some research online - and I am pretty dang certain he has Sensory Integrative Dysfunction - which could possibly put him on the autism spectrum (I knew it would happen eventually) Other problem is it is so new (same with apraxia) it is hard to figure out - so I don't know what to do about it. He could also just be totally uncoordinated - but I don't know. One of the exercises it suggested was playing "Simon Says" to help with coordination - but he can't do that to save his life either :sad2: ( we just tried)

The cops here like to ask: "Is there a reason why you were speeding" or "Are you aware that you were speeding?" I don't think it would be smart to say: "Why no officer. I was not aware that I was speeding!" :rolleyes1 ;)

One of my co-workers used to drive real fast down the streets here and also in our parking lot. Well we kept seeing him get pulled over my motorcycle cops who would hide near the sidewalk. I think he got one too many and now we see him drive slower than before.

Isn't that crazy about Facebook? I got friend requests from people I went to high school with. I received one the other day from someone who I knew from 10th or 11th grade. :rotfl: Luckily I remembered who that person was. :lmao:

Aww...poor kid. :( I hope you and your DH can find something that could help your DS. At least you are researching and that's a great thing and at least you tried the Simon Says.

I agree, sounds like a coordination issue. Maybe a motor planning concern that you can bring up at PT? Being part of a team, even if he lacks the ability to perform tasks as well as other kids, is good for him. Listening and following directions, staying on task, being part of a group, social skills. Think of it as another form of therapy.

I had a childhood friend contact me via Facebook, I hadn't heard from her since Elementary school! She apologized for being rude to me.. uhhh okay?? I don't recall you ever doing that but hey if it makes you feel better as an adult?? :confused3 It was the oddest thing.

There are quite a few really good books with ideas to help children with sensory issues. Check your library and ask for inter- library loan if they don't have it in stock. My sis picks up medical volumes, study papers, etc. at her tiny local branch.

Some good ones come to mind:

The Out-Of-Sync Child: Recognizing and Coping With Sensory Integration Dysfunction

The Out-of-Sync Child has Fun: Activities for Kids with Sensory Integration Dysfunction

Growing an In-Sync Child: Simple, Fun Activities to Help Every Child Develop, Learn, and Grow

Sensational Kids: Hope and Help for Children with Sensory Processing Disorder

Good luck and I hope you can find some answers.

Morning and happy Thursday.

Sara I am sorry to hear about the tickets. I went 40+ years without getting one and then get one about a year ago I think it's been now. I was SO mad too cuz I am usually so careful and I didn't even think I deserved it but I came up to a right hand turn and it was a red light and I KNOW I stopped but the cop said I didn't. The REASON I know I stopped is cuz one of the few accidents I was in that wasn't a rear ender I had stopped at a turn like that looked, saw it was clear and went and then got hit by a guy that had come FLYING exceeding the speed limit over the hill and had changed lanes in the intersection. So EVER since then (and this was when I was 18 so it's been a LOT of years LOL) I still am really cautious about making turns on red lights. I KNOW I stopped and looked to make sure no one was coming. But anyway he gave me the ticket and EVERYONE said it wouldn't be that much and I should fight it and on and on. It was 400 bucks!! I was livid. I SHOULD have fought it. So if I were you I would try it. What could it hurt. Either way you will prob have to pay so why not!!! Sorry that happened and I hope it works out for you!

Yesterday we weren't planning on doing much but then mom called and asked us to meet her for lunch so we did and we had JUST gotten home and changed back into our old comfy clothes when one of Katy's friends called and asked if she could come over and play. Well she lives a ways a way and I didn't feel like going BACK out so I asked if she could wait till her dad got home and she said fine and then she called back a bit later and asked if Katy could spend the night. Oh Shelby was NOT happy. She was so jealous. See usually Shelby is the popular one and at school she is the one with all the friends and when they were little most of the time if one got invited somewhere the people were nice enough to invite the other one but I told Shelby this is a good lesson in the fact that now they are older and that is not going to happen anymore. It actually started when my stepdaughter was here and they got SO jealous when she got to do stuff. Of course she was a teenager and they were little so of COURSE she was able to do things because she was much older. But we had a long talk and so when dad got home we got blizzards as a treat so she didn't feel too dejected ;)

I'm glad for Katy though because she hasn't had a whole lot of friends and NEVER gets asked to do anything so I am glad someone is finally taking an interest in her. She NEVER complains and sits back and watches shelby get to do stuff so this is good!

She is going with her friend to her piano lesson and then coming home and mom said she wanted to get Shelby piano lessons since she has been teaching herself by ear on our piano and so I am going to try and get the name of their teacher. Of course that is yet ONE more thing we will have to do LOL but I have always wanted the girls to learn an instrument so I think it is a good thing!

Anyway when Katy gets home I need to run out and pick up my prescription and take our movies back and we MAY go get our hair cut today. We all look like shaggy dogs LOL it is just a matter if I feel like messing with it or if we want to wait and do it on Sunday when dad can go cuz he needs his done too!

That's all for me. Hope you all have a good day!

Eloy went to his primary doc today, he hadn't gone for over a year so they kept calling and asking him to call back .. finally they sent a letter and I nagged him to make an appt. :thumbsup2

Added yet another diagnosis to the list, I did the "told you so" stare :snooty: when I read his report. Now he HAS to quit smoking, he is starting by cutting back and replacing with the nicotine gum. The gum isn't all that great for him either but it's a starting point as the oral med he can't have due to his history of seizures (besides it never worked for him anyway). And an inhaler before exercise.

He told her his hearing has been "off" in one ear. She said that hearing loss is common in dialysis patients  weird, never read of that one before. He has a referral to an audiologist and ENT.

Likely some new meds too.. ahhh the joys of having a messed up aging body

Hubby said it was a good visit, she took a very long time going over each concern and offering advice. Finally a doc who understands my hubby! Doesn't preach, doesn't scold and listens when he says something isn't right. :yay:
