Chatterbox Thread-Cmon in and Jabber! Everyone is Welcome!

Way to go on the swim meets! Wasn't Shelby getting over a cold? Maybe that's why her times were a bit off. Swimming is the only thing I liked in Phy Ed (long long ago...) , didn't like IMs we had to do those as warm ups. You could see a bunch of students faking out a few of the strokes because they hated them too. :lmao: I had phy ed right after lunch, would get to my next class (math) and be all shaky, tired out when we had swimming with one of the teachers-- she was a toughie and had us do lap after lap after lap... on and on.... :faint:

But, I learned all the major swim strokes from her. Loved when we had an indoor pool in the apt complex, we would swim everyday, I lost a ton of weight that year! I'm not into exercising, long walks and swimming are a good match for me. I miss having a pool or at least a Y membership.

At the beginning of the season I was having allergy issues, those have calmed down now. But now I think I've developed a new allergy. :sad1: Avocados have been low cost lately, picked some up the last few shopping trips. Each time I've had them I have had itchy mouth and ears. Never did before so it's weird. :confused3

I recall reading about cross allergies of avocados and latex..

I already have a mild contact reaction to latex, I break out in a rash. Fun times when glove use was mandatory when I worked in the 90's as a nurse (LPN).. the height of the HIV awareness and before health care switched to latex free products. I would go home with my hands just raw, red and swollen. Can't use condoms either

sooo.. no more guac for me. BOO!

Hoping it doesn't progress into a true oral allergy syndrome and other fruits like melons and kiwi. :scared:

Morning all and happy Monday.

Yeah Bernice the cold could have been part of it although Shelby is DEF my stuborn child and she has determined that she doesn't like swim and only likes soccer. So she has kind of given up. The frustrating thing about this is that she is so GOOD at it. Normally we would never "force" our kids to do any sports and we have pretty much let them try things and if they don't like something we do something else but since Katy LOVES swim so much we told Shelby she should at least TRY it 3 years ago and shelby DOES love to swim and so her first year she didn't do too well but last year she really excelled and shelby IS very competitive and I know she likes to win. Last year she did VERY well in the breast stroke and came close to making meet of champions in that stroke. I think her problem is if she can't be the "best" at something she doesn't want to do it. She is VERY good at soccer and prefers it. Katy is not as good but we still have her play because Shane is the coach and she is better than she thinks she is as well. We know eventually there will probably come a day when she may not want to play but we like them to stay active and if they don't play we don't want it to be just because they are just being lazy and want to play their nintendo's. We really encourage physical exercise and want them to get SOME type of physical activity year round. They don't need to be the best but we want them to at least participate. That is what we told Shelby. If that is her best then we will be proud of her and we want her most of all to just enjoy herself and if nothing else to get exercise and have fun. BUT we also want her to DO her best and we know she CAN do much better. We have seen her do better just by all her times last year. So while it could have been that she still wasn't feeling well I think she just has kind of given up. So hopefully she gets a little more encouraged because I hate to see her just give up. Especially when Katy is doing so well. I want to be able to get excited for her when she does well and she knows she is not doing well right now. As I told Shane last night if she was doing her best and her best was last place then that would be fine. For the first year we were excited for her just to get across the pool but we have seen her do SO much better. So hopefully she comes around. We are just trying to teach the girls that you don't get anything in life in school, sports, work by just taking the easy road. Everything takes hard work and determination but when you do those things it pays off. And you should never just give up when things don't go your way. So we shall see.

That stinks about your allergies. What a bummer to find out you are allergic to a food that you love. So far I don't think I am allergic to any foods that I know of. I know that with my migraines if I eat certain things it can trigger migraines but I eat some of them anyway because I love them so and just take the chance. Sometimes I get a headache and sometimes not. I am allergic to codeine though (get a rash) and seem to have the usual seasonal allergies to pollen and such. I have never officially been tested but on top of ALL the other migraine triggers I have I believe that I get allergy related headaches as well. SO frustrating but what can you do ;)

Hopefully you don't get the melon and kiwi allergy as well. I love both of those!!

Yesterday we had a nice day. I set out to Sears to find a dressy sweater for Katy as she outgrew her old one but alas all the sweaters seem to be long gone from the stores so I didn't get that and I have been looking for one of those pillows for my bathtub as the one I have is getting really ratty but I forgot to look while I was at the mall. I did find some really cute dresses for the girls left over from easter that were 50% off so that was a score. And then I had seen some things at children's place that finally went on sale AND I had a 15% off coupon so I went back and picked a couple more things up there.

The girls need some new crocs but the store I bought there old ones at no longer sell the mary jane version so I am going to have to try our other mall. Then we went to Walmart and Katy got her book and Shelby picked a new book as well.

Then we just relaxed at home till Survivor! I was pleased that Russell did not win and eventhough the gal that DID win was not who I wanted it was better than HIM!!!

It is supposed to rain yet AGAIN and Shane is laid off work again today. He was off on Fri and now again today. UGH! So it is going to be a tight week this week money wise. He is off to renew his driver's license today and I am off to work. Probably won't be going to swim tonight because of the rain and possible thunderstorms.

Then not much else going on the rest of the week just looking forward to the meet.

Oh I DO have my pre-op on Thurs so I will be anxious to see what my doc has to say. She is going to hopefully put me on some different hormones. Plus I will be finding out what the procedure is for the surgery next Fri.

That's bout it. Hope everyone has a GREAT day and talk later!

Good Morning!

DBF and I went to Sea World on Saturday. It was so warm down in San Diego.:thumbsup2

Saw the Shamu show but it was kind of boring since they don't let the trainers in the water with them anymore.

Overall it was a good day. On the way down and on the way home we stopped to eat at this litttle hole in the wall mexican place that has the best carne asada burritos. We debated buying a few extra to bring home but decided not to. Makes them more special when we only get them a few times a year.

If you know the sizes without needing to try them on, buy the crocs on their website. They always have coupon codes floating around plus I always see deals on kid sizes in the outlet section of the website.
Much cheaper than buying them at the mall, even if you have to pay shipping.. though there is usually a code for free ship. You can stack a couple of codes, just try out different combos until you find the lowest cost. :thumbsup2

Had to wait around for our water culture guy to do his thing today, brought a bunch of boxes of bagged fluid to us as well. I commented that if we had a two week reserve supply it wouldn't be necessary to haul 9 boxes in his car and up our stairs.. he laughed and agreed. It just peeves me to no end that the parent company that owns our center changed policy to cut costs, but our staff didn't let us know of the change. :headache: We thought the supply company had been screwing up our orders.

Communication people! if you're going to screw with someone's life line, could you at least let the person know... that way I can cheat a bit on inventory, creating my own reserve pile over time. :thumbsup2

Now we count out boxes and worry if we have enough for adequate treatment until our water cultures come back.

Oh, can't go anywhere today either...and it's so lovely outside!

UPS is to deliver more boxes, found that out by calling the supply company. I wouldn't have known until I called about something else. :sad2:
Not sure why they split it into two shipments :confused3

Now when they add up the cost of two emergency shipments of supplies via UPS (because we didn't have enough on hand when a machine part died).

Compare it to shipping a few at a time, to maintain a two week reserve supply, in the big drop shipment to the area for all patients (split up and brought to our home by a local carrier once a month).. which would be cheaper.. hmmm??

mmm, We found a really good place near San Clemente beach. Just a tiny little building with no indoor seating. It was totally YUM for breakfast burritos before we headed out for the day. Couple of surfers were hanging out in the parking lot, sitting on their cars and eating.. my sis in law enjoyed ogling them.

(Pedro's tacos)

The place in SD only has a few tables inside, cash only, and the sign says Salsa, that's it. :rotfl:

I'm counting down the minutes till my dentist appointment. :sad1: It's only for a cleaning but I still hate the dentist. Went last week and had no cavities but they didn't have time for the cleaning. After waiting over an hour to be seen I guess it was lunch time so they asked me to come back after lunch. Um hello, I have to go back to work. :sad2:

So after getting tortured at the dentist I get back to work and get yelled at by the VP.

My boss has been on vacation since Thursday. He knew I was taking my lunch early today to go to the dentist. I didn't think I needed to tell the VP. I told my co-worker.

I guess she came up to my dept while I was gone and was mad that I didn't tell her I was taking my lunch early. Um, I told my boss two weeks ago, it's not my fault he didn't put it in his notes.

She then asked if my boss told us we were to report to her while he was out. Nope, he didn't. I mean common sence if there's an emergency I would tell her but for something as little as taking my lunch early and the fact that I told my boss two weeks ago, I didn't think it was a big deal. And I told her that and she said, Well Sarah I need you to think.

:sad2:

Why hello Ms Cilantro!

U talkin' to me?:rotfl2:

Thanks guys. Actually I didn't want to be TMI but I didn't mean nausea although I DID get sick a few times but I am used to that. What I meant by sick was I had an abscess on my colon and had colon surgery and it was outpatient and should have been IN patient because everything got SO swollen up down there that I could NOT urinate afterwards.

They had to cath me just so I could pass urine and THAT was incredibly painful cuz they couldn't even get the catheter in and kept trying to force it and that felt REAL good NOT! Then after I got home I ended up in the ER because of it. I also ended up with Ecoli in my bladder and a massive UTI because of everything and also because of the type surgery I had going no 2 for the longest time was like passing glass shards. I would cry every time and had to immediately get in the tub. I knew that was part of the surgery recovery but didn't realize it was going to be SO painful and take SO long to recover. They told me full recovery would be about 6 weeks but it took me more like 8!

So that was actually what I meant. But yeah I ALWAYS tell them when I have general anesthesia that I need the anti-nausea stuff in my IV but sometimes I puke anyway LOL.

When I got up to use the bathroom after my surgery in August I puked anyway LOL. I was fine after my bladder surgery though. Never even felt sick! So I guess it just depends. My colon surgery was longer though thus requiring more anesthesia I guess.

I am having an ablation vs the full hysto so hopefully it won't be that big of a deal I just hope I don't end up needing the hysto ANYWAY. I already have a myoma and I am afraid it will continue to grow and after going through THIS I will still need one ANYWAY. That is my only concern. Plus I just hope that after all this that it helps my headaches!! That is part of the reason I am doing this! I guess we shall see.

Plus I desperately need to get a mamo done speaking of mastectomies! I haven't had one since I was 39 and I will be 43 next month! I switched insurances 3 times in the last few years and with my other 2 surgeries and stuff I just didn't get around to it. Now they have been harrassing me but I want to get THIS done first and THEN I will schedule it but I will be honest I am always nervous.

Just need to get it over with!

Off to time trials today! Hope everyone has a GREAT day!!

Anesthesia can cause constipation...ask your surgeon about taking stool softeners for about a week beforehand. It really helps things flow smoothly if you get my drift!.:thumbsup2

I turn 40 next month, my gift to myself is to contact the SAGE program and get a mammogram and pap done. Thank goodness for these type of programs to help the uninsured.

Oh boy, E and I discussed our summer plans. We both agreed that he doesn't want me working everyday. My sis has set aside PCA hours for me like she did last year, but after I sat and calculated the hours with the summer break months and her child's camp days factored in.... YIKES... I love my sis and her family, but umm not enough to spend my entire summer with them.

I don't mind helping out occasionally, but now that our situation has changed (with E off this summer). I kinda want to stay home and enjoy it.

We also talked about his ongoing hip issues. His neph thinks its time to get the ball rolling on seeing an ortho and getitng the replacements done. And after E described exactly how he feels, I agree it needs to be done soon.

Hmm, we live on the third floor, no elevator. Do you see a problem? :rolleyes1
I know they want ya up walking right away, but stairs?? hmmmm....

Wow, I can think of a lot funner gifts then that!:lmao: Wow, I didn't realize you were that much older than me. I'll be turning 29 in July.:hippie:

I recall reading about cross allergies of avocados and latex.. Can't use condoms either  sooo.. no more guac for me. BOO! Hoping it doesn't progress into a true oral allergy syndrome and other fruits like melons and kiwi. :scared:

There's just so much a person could do with these statements. But I won't go there, I think they pretty much stand on their own.:rotfl2:

:sad2:

It's a good thing she didn't tell me that...else I would have told her what I THINK! :sad2:

Morning gals!

Man sara I hate the dentist too and that is just LAME about your boss! I mean yelling at someone for going to the dentist! Sheesh! It wasn't even like you were taking off early to do something fun even!! GEEZ! I feel your pain. I HATE the dentist. DREAD going. EVERY time I go I end up with a migraine because they always hurt me. I have REALLY sensitive teeth and gums and it seems like they go out of their way to dig for gold when they are cleaning my teeth!! I always "remind" them that I am sensitive but they seem to do it anyway! I ended up with an abscess once on Good Friday because I used to have my wisdom teeth and they were cleaning around them and got some of the cleaning stuff underneath the gums of one of my wisdom teeth and it abscessed and by that night I was dying! I had to call my mom to come get me in the middle of the night because I was in excrutiating pain. I prob should have just gone to the er to get a pain shot but back then I didn't know any better! I was hurting so bad and all my dentist did was prescribe antibiotics which did NOTHING for the pain only the infection. So I ended up slurping soup through a straw on easter while everyone else ate their dinner LOL. I couldn't WAIT to get back in to their office on monday and never wanted anesthesia so bad in my life!!! I had to have oral surgery and stitches and a drain. It was a nightmare. Needless to say I am NOT fond of dentists OR cleanings!!! I had to have my wisdom teeth pulled after that and that was a whole other nightmare. I am due to have my teeth cleaned next Tues and I dread it every time. My surgery is Fri and I am thinking gee what did I do to deserve being tortured twice in one week LOL.

Hope yours was relatively painless other than your jerky boss!!

And Alison let's just say that since I have had my surgery constipation is no longer an issue ;) Quite the opposite actually. But thanks for the tip! :)

Not much on for today but lots of lovely laundry awaits! The weather wasn't too bad so we ended up going to swim after all last night and it is back to sun again so we will be going again tonight. Other than that not much else this week but LOTS of good TV.

All of our shows are in finales this week and I am anxious to see them! I am a big lost fan and I am anxious to see it but sad at the same time. It is one of my all time fav shows and while I am dying to see what they are going to do to wrap it up I don't want it to end. I am also REALLY anxious to see how Katy does at her actual meet this weekend. I hope she does as well as she did at Time trials!

That's bout it for me.

Hope everyone has a good day and take care!

Hi Everyone,

I haven't had a chance to catch up and still need to read back but I wanted to say that I am home! :yay:

*Alison- I'm sorry to hear about your parents. That's definitely not easy and I will be praying for you and your family. Lots of hugs to you! :grouphug:

My flight from LAX to D.C. went by quickly but mainly because I was so exhausted and slept almost the whole way there. My flight was at 6am last Thursday and when I got to LAX, there were barely any workers. :rotfl: I hadn't slept the night before due to packing and making sure I didn't forget anything. I had to leave the house around 3:30am. My dad took me to the airport and we hit some construction on the freeway near the Getty Museum. They closed down most of the freeway and had us re-routed through surface streets. It was a headache to get through because they didn't have very many signs directing you where to go. :sad2:

On the flight I sat next to a guy who is a comedy writer for TV shows. He worked on Everybody Loves Raymond. Then another guy sat next to us and works for TV Guide or something and they were chatting like crazy. Both of them were really nice to me and offered to throw away my drink cup (the stewardess kept ignoring us for some reason) and one guy offered me his window seat instead of the middle seat, which was nice.

The flight from Washington to Raleigh was very quick. It took about 40 minutes to get there.

In a small way I was proud of myself because I managed to fly solo for the first time. I always travelled with family. If I didn't know where something was, I asked or I figured it out on my own.

The first night in NC, I got to see my cousin's home. She lives in a beautiful area that is named after Arnold Palmer. They have a nice neighborhood, it's newly developed, a country club, a nice pool area. It's really pretty. One thing I wasn't used to is how her backyard has a short white pickett fence, so each home can just look over and see each other. I told her that in CA, I am so used to seeing big concrete walls blocking neighbors from seeing into each other's backyard. :rotfl:

I got to see what it's like to have 2 dogs. :) My cousin said that I obviously love dogs and she says I'm so good with them. She said that maybe I should consider volunteering for an animal shelter so I can work and play with dogs. I'll have to look into that because that would be cool.

We got a manicure and pedicure. It was really fun and my feet were in desperate need of a makeover! :rotfl: When I told that to Emilee, she started laughing. She's 8 now and so tall and skinny and cute. She got a "manicure and pedicure" too but it was just the ladies filing her nails and painting them. They didn't use scrubs or trim her cuticles or anything. She chose 2 different nail polish colors to use and I thought that was cute.

I have some pics to share which I will try to upload later on. I'm back at work today. I didn't get home until almost 2am because my flight from DC to LAX was delayed 3 times! :headache: I did pay extra to have more leg room in Economy Plus and got a window seat. This lady next to me was with her husband or boyfriend and she kept moving around in her seat and fidgeting like a little kid. It was really annoying and I couldn't sleep well because of her. :headache:

Ughh...I am in need of a Jamba Juice fix! They did not have Jamba Juice in Raleigh. :(

Hope you are all having a good day. :smooth:

Welcome back Rochelle! So glad you had a good time! You deserve it!

Morning gals and happy hump day.

Not much going on here today. Just more chores and swim practice tonight. Will be interested to see what my doc has to say at my pre-op tomorrow (what to expect and all at my surgery next week). I am sure it won't be any big deal but still will be interested to see and will be glad when the whole thing is over! Want to hurry up and be done with all of it so I can move on to school getting out and our trip!!! :)

Am looking forward to the Fringe Finale tomorrow night although I will def miss it till next season. And of course am DEF looking forward to the lost finale on Sunday night although am REALLY sad about it ending. I just found out Ghost Whisperer got cancelled and found out last week Flash Forward did as well. I went through a spurt there for awhile where we didn't watch hardly any tv but the past few years we kind of got back into a few shows and now I am sorely dissapointed because it seems everytime we start to like something and really get invested in it they cancel it. I really like things that make you think and are different than the same boring drivel that they seem to have on EVERY channel. I mean honestly how many cop shows and sit coms do they need???? Ah well I guess we will have to go back to doing something else LOL. We are pretty busy anyway with all the sports and other stuff and usually had to tivo most of it anyway.

Hope everyone is having a good day and talk to you later!

Good Morning,

-Albort: I was teasing about you "avoiding" me when I go to the parks. I know you have been busy and the crowds have been crazy with all the students in the music groups and such. I might go to DL this weekend so maybe I will see you then. :) Congrats on the house. Are you getting new roomies or just living solo? That's really cool. Do you have a pool so us hyenas can invade one day? :rotfl:

I went to the mall yesterday and went to Sephora. I knew that Juicy Couture had made a tote bag for them and was wondering if they still had stock. I tried to find it in NC but they were sold out. The sales lady said she would check and she opens and drawer and says: "Wow! We have 2 of them left!" Then she told me: "Guess what? They are half off!" Yay! :yay: I was happy and bought one. It's a large canvas tote bag and looks like this:

8xoffr.jpg

It's really roomy and I like this style of Juicy bags. I used one when I was travelling and it held 3 magazines and 3 books and all the other stuff I managed to toss into there. :rotfl:

When I was in NC, I got one of my younger cousins a b-day gift from Sephora. It's Tokidoki print nail files and it comes with a plastic case for them. I hope she likes it. It was her b-day yesterday and since she is at college, I mailed it out to her today (she goes to UC Irvine).

When I went to Macy's in NC, they had clearance of Disney Couture necklaces and bracelets. I got the Alice necklace and bracelet. They were marked down to $15 but had an additional 60% off. :yay: Here are the pics:

16lin94.jpg

I love the crown on the bracelet and the heart charm that says: "Off With His Head" :)

Here is the necklace (I'm wearing both today):

I like the charm that says: "Eat Me" and the bottle that says "Drink Me" on it. The other charm is a mushroom.

Hola ladies and Albort!!

Welcome back Pix!

 Hi Kelly, Sarah, Megan, Ali, Bernice, Christina, Dizzy.............and all newbies that I have forgotten. Sorry.

My life is busy with grandbabies at the moment. :cloud9: I'm watching Luca everyday this week, as it is Becky's first week back to teach. Next week I share with his other grandma. Forgot how the time flies with little ones.

This weekend I'm competing in Mouse Adventures. Woo hoo! It should be interesting to see me solving puzzles. :guilty:

Have a nice day! :flower3:

Hi Rochelle! LOVE the bag and the jewelry! CUTE!!

Hi Mel!!! Long time no see. I bet you are loving your new little grand babies!! Have fun at MA this weekend. I am jealous! Mom and I plan on doing it next May!! Maybe you can do it with us ;) I was looking at the info about the half marathon too and although I seriously doubt we can do it this year I am seriously thinking about doing the fun run with the girls next year.

It sounds like so much fun and I know the girls would LOVE it. I can't run at ALL but the girls could "jog" it and I could walk it ;)

Hope everyone is having a good day! It is raining AGAIN! Bleh. Plus I was checking the extended forecast and now it is saying rain and a high in only the low 60's for Sat which is the meet. BOOO! Well at least it won't be too hot LOL. I just hope we don't get thunderstorms and they have to call the meet!

Off to help the girls with their homework and then off to practice. Have a good evening all!!

Funny you should mention the weather, I compared the forecast for my area to Anaheim... we are much warmer all this week!

It was 80 today, but not humid (hooray!) so it was comfy outside, kinda warm in our apt mid afternoon until the sun began to set.

Continuing with 80's all week, hitting 89 on Sunday (and thunderstorms, thinking the humidity will go up) YUCK!

Went to Target and spent a bunch of $ but got tons of stuff and earned $15 in gift cards with various deals. Saved 50% just in coupons. :woohoo:

Noah and hubby had found one of the Nightmare on Elm street movies on instant play for Netflix, but that was all they had. The rest are by DVD only, it takes us a long time to send the DVDs back because we forget to put it in the mailbox.. they won't fit in the mail slot at our building.

They were bummed out, Noah pointed out that we could just buy the series and hubby shrugged it off as "oh well" .

I had a bit of time after I finished my shopping. Took a turn thru DVD area and found a multi set of the first 5 movies.. and next to it.. the rest of the series. :yay: Total $20 for all 8 of the movies, SOLD!

The guys are happy, I'm usually not into horror flicks but I can tolerate watching Freddy since the special effects of the 80's are so cheesy compared to today.

The plan is to have a Freddy marathon on Sunday while we sit under the AC, no point in going anywhere in the heat.
Pizza (domino's duh!) and junk food bonanza. :thumbsup2

Which is why, when we ditched the expense of cable, we didn't even bother with regular TV. My thoughts are that eventually it will be online or Netflix.
I miss a few things, but not enough to tinker with antennae and converter boxes to get a signal.

Now internet... that is something I could NOT live without. :scared:

Funny dn story.. this is my sister's middle son with autism (note he has zero impulse control!).
He's 9 yrs old, his school is going thru some crowding issues so they have small group for math with a different teacher. DN doesn't do well in math and tends to melt down when he gets answers wrong. They also do a speed math activity, quickly answering math problems on write/ wipe boards.. major source of meltdowns! Sis has asked if there is a way for him to be pulled from class before they do this activity or perhaps try a different approach at least some of the time. The teacher really likes this activity, his para is not available at that time period to pull him.. so he gets mad, gets frustrated, melts down and then gets pulled from the room. :sad2:

Anyway, sis got a call from the school. DN had to tell her what he did.
Sis tried to explain to the teacher "I'm sorry that happened but he doesn't do that at home" which is totally true. The teacher didn't believe her.

Here is the oh so short story..

The math teacher passes by DN in the hall and said "HI!" and gave him a thumbs up sign.

He calmly looked at her and replied by

Flipping her off!

hmm, and how do you really feel about this teacher dn?

:lmao::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Never a dull moment at my sister's house. :rotfl:

Welcome back Pix...sounds like you had a great visit. :thumbsup2

Kell...good luck on your pre-op tomorrow.

Mel...have fun with those grandbabies.:thumbsup2

Albort...you can run but you really can't hide from the Hyenas!

B...your DN rocks (but as a responsible adult you can't tell him I said that).:rotfl:

My conversation with DH tonite...

DH: What are you doing?

Me: Cutting dryer sheets in half.

DH: Why?

Me: Cuz you only need a half sheet to prevent static and then it makes them cost half price...DUH!

DH: But didn't you just buy them at the Dollar Tree? Weren't they cheap to start with?

Me: Yes, 55 sheets for $1. But now I have 110 sheets for $1.

DH: You know, someday babe I'll become a millionaire and you won't have to cut dryer sheets in half.

Me: I don't do it because I have to, I do it because I want to. Besides using a whole dryer sheet is wasteful, plus it saves money.

DH: But if I we were millionaires you wouldn't cut them in half.

Me: Sure I would!

DH: NO, You Wouldn't!
