ok, where the heck are you guys....I am waiting on DH to get home so we can load up what is all over my livingroom...we will pull out early so we can get there and get set up and enjoy the extended weekend....

I can't believe tomorrow I will be 40:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Hi all. We just got back from Meet the teacher night. Jake was all confident walking to the school and in Morgan's 2nd grade classroom. When he walked up to his door he froze and started to cry. He would not go in.

My biggest fear has been confirmed. He wouldnt talk to the teacher and said he didnt ever want to go to kindergarten and wanted to go back to his preschool. I'm really dreading Monday.

Chalk this up to one of the reasons I wanted half day. He is just not ready. I know he would have stiil had to go in but at least he wouldnt have been away from home ALL DAY. I'm sitting here. :sad1:

My parents are on the way here for dinner. My little sister is already here. My dad had dropped her off earlier because they are still having their house painted. I think it's taking longer than expected. :scared: I'm not sure how they can stand the fumes. It smelled awful when I was at their house. :scared1:

Yikes! I have a strange addiction to paint fumes. I guess its my inner rebel wanting to sniff something! I actually love being around fresh paint.

Strange I know. :confused3

:lmao:

Thanks, we bought Jake a school t-shirt when we left and that seemed to cheer him up but it also might have been from the fact that we were LEAVING.

Shawna- my cousin just e-mailed me pics of Emilee. She took her to a Jonas Brothers/ Avril Lavigne concert the other day and Emilee is beaming with a Jonas Brothers shirt on. :lmao:

Aww, that's cool! :thumbsup2 I was walking in the mall and passed GAP Kids. They had the cutest t-shirts for boys and girls. It's called Junk Food and it has Hello Kitty and super heroes.

Oh noooo! :guilty:

Shawna, did YOU talk with the teacher to ask for help with Jake on Monday? I know she'll have her hands full, but maybe she's got some tips.

Basically what I remember from daycare drop-offs, you want to keep your drop-off as quick as possible, don't linger and don't cave in to their unreasonableness. Remind them when you are coming back to get them (is it after lunch? After recess? Some kind of time marker for him) and be as confident and cheerful as possible.

Maybe there will be another neighbor kid in his class? Even if it's a girl, it will be someone he knows.

DS4 was crying and very clingy at the preschool drop-off at the beginning of the school year last year, and it broke my heart. But I knew (having gone through many daycare drop-offs with DS7) that it's a very brief phase they go through.

I sobbed my way through DS4's first day at preschool, then rushed to the school to pick him up. He was totally happy by then, of course (and I'd had a terrible 2.5 hours myself!) The next day he still cried but not as hard, and by the 3rd day it was like he was just putting on a show for my benefit, he really just wanted to go play with the kids. :rotfl:

Jake will be fine, kindergarten is very much like preschool so the routine will be familiar to him. I would have been nice to have a little 1-on-1 with the teacher beforehand so Jake could have said hi and spoken to her a bit. Ah, well. It may be bumpy on Monday, but it will get better!

My bf and I love Quiksilver shirts. :lmao: They have awesome designs and you can find them for $9.99 at TJ Maxx. :thumbsup2 I think it's funny that our local mall Tilly's is just one store away from Pac Sun. :rotfl2:
