I was thinking the Australian gas was double... Maybe it was triple??? Yikes!

Are you sure it was 0.99/gallon when you were 19? That was... what, 7 years ago? :rotfl:

I remember Australians asking me why Americans drove such big cars. My parents drove a tiny Datsun and a van, and we used the van for camping, hauling wood, getting groceries, etc. My dad used it for hunting and fishing, hauling his boat.

This one family I stayed with had...6 kids? Or was it 7? And each of the parents drove a small car; one was a tiny Audi, and I don't remember the other. How on earth did their entire family do ANYTHING???

Smushed them in.. But with that many kids, they probably didnt do a lot together. My mom had 6 kids in her family, and they had a station wagon.

$1.10 about 7 yrs ago sounds right..hard to believe huh?

hmm, correction -- looking at an article I found.. yr 2000 was more like $1.25- $1.75 depending where you lived...

Indeed.. I dont know. The gas prices arent bothering me all that much right now. Its not like we can do anything about it, and we have to have it.. So what are we gonna do?

Now.. The price of eggs had me in a bit of a tizzy this morning. :lmao: $3.29 for 18 EGGS! Dh asked me if we were still going to be able to afford to eat. Ummmmm YEAH!:lmao: :lmao: But I dont think we will be going out for a while.

Exactly, it's not like you can do much about it-- except skip driving to places "just for fun".

ahhh, your egg prices now match California's.... congrats!

It's cheaper here.. want to say $2.79 for 18 , not far from farming/ livestock farming. Gold N Plump Chicken is grown and processed in St Cloud.. just an hour away. ;)
And egg producers, organic valley brand milk, small farms that grow local produce ... just past the metro area.

However, the "close to farming" idea didn't work in California for eggs and milk  Dairy farms were just 45 minutes away from where we lived.. but the produce was insanely cheap!

The cat has the midnight crazies  She attacked hubby's cell phone (charging on the table) and it crashed to the floor, knocking the battery cover off.

Now she is messing with empty boxes and things in the closet-- :headache:

I was thinking of heading out to the farmers market tomorrow for produce.. It is VERY expensive here. All the time. I would like to find a place I can buy eggs, and milk from.

mmmm, I love farmer's market-- unfortunately our local farmers got hit by hail recently-- shredding delicate crops. :sad1:

you should check into Community Sponsored Agriculture.. you pay for a "share" of the season's crop.. the farmer agrees to give you X amt of boxes of produce each week. Win win situation. you get good quality produce, farmer gets a community ($) to support them.

before I forget.. November can be down right COOOOOOOOOLD in the evenings at DL, we had to wear jeans, bundle up in coats and even have gloves. Then again.. it can be hot (80's) during the day.

:confused3

okay, there was something else I was going to say.. but I forgot and now it's off to bed.. NIGHT!!

I thought farmer's markets were usually produce only, maybe some craft items? Kent used to have a Saturday market, not sure if they still do. But Olympia's probably closer for you, huh? :)
