Are you guys getting the hang of it okay? It sounds all interesting!
Blood running backwards seems like it should be a problem...? :confused3

But if it didn't harm anything, and actually seems to have helped a minor issue, then cool! :rotfl:

For some reason I can watch stuff like that on someone else, but when I go to get blood drawn or something on myself, I DO NOT like to watch it. I guess it's mainly the needle. I also couldn't bear the thought of giving myself injections of the fertility drugs, had to have DH do that. If it had been up to me to do 10 years ago, I'd probably still be standing there, needle in hand, trying to talk myself into it! :lmao:

DH called this evening. On top of being exhausted because he didn't sleep well, he has a sore throat. And he did a presentation today, and 5 minutes into it The Powers That Be said that really wasn't what they were looking for. He said something along the lines of, "Well... would somebody kindly tell me what the heck you ARE looking for, because this is what I was told to present!" :headache: :sad2:

So they did, and he was able to wing it. Good grief, I would have wanted the floor to swallow me up, but he just kept on truckin'. YEAH, baby! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Tomorrow is a day full of meetings that he is not presenting, just participating, but going to be a long day. We are both soooo looking forward to him coming home.

Oh man!:headache:

yeah I would have been caught off guard too.. way to go! :woohoo:

I bet the sore throat is because his immunity is down from working long hours and not sleeping -- and being stuck with a bunch of people in one room all day long... blahhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Just a few more days and he will be home :)

Yeah, I can't wait. I'm sleeping OK, but still feel wiped out in the morning, so I'm not sure if I'm waking a lot, or just not sleeping deeply? It's different anyway. I'll be so glad when he's back, for his sake and ours. ;)

So what's the weather like in MN? Still hot and muggy?

DS4: Mama, is pockcorn dessert?
Me: Yes, honey.
DS4: No, it's not. Pockcorn is not dessert, because it's food.
Me: Really?
DS4: Yeah. But chocolate chip cookie is dessert...
Me, laughing: That's a nice try, sweetheart.

[We picked up a box of chocolate chip cookies at Costco today.]

I am not sure what would happen running backwards, besides being a higher pressure that could damage the acess site. I suppose you could still get dialysis done that way , but it might not be as effective??. :confused3

it's kinda funny that you mention not wanting to give injections.. he has no qualms placing his needles everyday. And they are LOOOOOOOOOOONG and thick buggers.

But he has to give himself a shot once a week of EPOGEN to combat anemia. (builds up red blood cells) it's tiny needle, very short-- same needle used when giving insulin.. he made sad faces and put off giving it until we had to leave.. grimacing and had to tell himself to "do it!"

Dude, you're freaking out over this tiny skeeterbite of a needle?? After you put those inch long sewing needles in your arm.. what the heck??

I offered to do it for him-- he declined because I was enjoying the idea of poking him :rotfl2:

I don't sleep well without my hubby, I pile his pillows to make a "body" on his side of the bed.

It was warm again today and muggy of course. Cooled down at sunset, but still warmish .. at least not AS sticky. But just as you begin to enjoy the cooler temps.. the bugs come out to dine.

UGH!

At least in the city they do mosquito abatement , it's much worse in rural areas.

Yeah, we had some drugs that just had to be transdermal, little bitty needles. But others were big honkers. Probably not like E's, but to me they looked freakin' ENORMOUS! Those had to be injected into the muscle, and when DH pushed the drug in too fast (because I was going, "ow ow ow ow ow!" they caused a big hard knot in that spot. :scared1:

YUCK! I HATE mosquitoes, because they love me! And that high-pitched whine drives me insane! I used to lay awake at night when I was a kid, just waiting for them to bite me.

I would never have a house/apartment without window screens, they have saved me. DH likes the windows open practically year-round, so screens keep me from getting munched. And I have turned into my father, constantly yelling, "Who left this slider open? Come close it NOW!" The boys are pretty good about it now. :rotfl:

This weekend we are off to the Inlaws, where they will celebrate their collective June/July brithdays.. and ignore my June birthday :rolleyes1 Nothing new there...

We feel like we "have" to give them gifts.. but they only give gifts to hubby. :confused3

Is it just me? or is that kinda rude?? They don't even acknowledge the boys' birthdays.. for me I'm like whatever-- cool.. but c'mon.. what about your grandkids/nephews ??

It's rare for us to gift my family.. except my sis and her family. BUT if I know I will be in town near one of my sibs or nephews on their birthdays.. by golly I get them a card or something.

Ok enough fussing..

Not even the kids?? I would be pissed! My mil will get my kids clothes that dont fit.. Never fails, every birthday. But at least she TRIES!

yoooooowwwww that would be an IM (intramuscular) and yes they DO hurt!
I alwas felt bad having to give shots to itty bitty old ladies, not much muclse left to poke it into.. and some meds sting!

For example: Rocephin (poweful antibiotic) should always be mixed with a lidocaine .. not just saline-- that stuff BURNS as it goes in.

Tiny needles poked in fat is SubQ , 90 degree angle

Interdermal is just under the skin and makes a tiny bump-- basically used for tuberculin testing. Those are kinda fun to give, You have to insert them just under the surface with the needle bevel UP, flat to the skin. I ws happy to see that little bump pop up.. then I knew it was given correctly and will test well.

My ILs used to recognize my birthday, but stopped several years ago. They also declared a few years ago that they did not want Christmas gifts, so we oblige. We usually give DH's dad a birthday gift and something small for Father's Day from the boys. I can never remember when DH's stepmother's birthday is, so I always miss it, but we do also give something for Mother's Day from the boys.

FIL gives a birthday gift for DH every year, and they either give the boys presents or DH a check on behalf of the boys for birthdays and Christmas.

I always wondered what precipitated the change, but honestly, after the initial one, it doesn't bother me. Our relationship isn't terribly close, it's mainly for the kids' sake. :confused3

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:     :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: YAY!!! How exciting!!!!! Did he get a big ole treat for it?

Actually he ended up with 2 toys from Target because

1. He did not cry.
2. He did the backstroke by himself.

He asked today if he got a toy since he did this yesterday and I told him "nope that was a one time deal, now you know its not scary so you can do it everyday" He seemed to be satisfied with that. :goodvibes

I can't imagine not having window screens-- yet I see people pop them out around here-- are u crazy??

ummmmmmm fine okay..
