chat to request something from hotel?

I remember for my Jan trip being able to go on the app to request something from the front desk. I think this was a pandemic change to avoid crowds at the front desk. Is this still available? I can't find it in the app anymore (but I don't check in for a few days, so maybe it activates after checkin).

Recently, I used the "chat" for a room request. They couldn't help me but gave me a number to call. 1-407-560-CHAT (2428)

I think you are talking about live chat on the website, and OP is talking about a feature in the app that you use when you are on property and need something like extra towels for your room.

I tried to use it a few times last week in March and I had to end up calling. Most of the time no one ever came on and once they did join the chat but never contacted our hotel staff. It was much easier to use the room phone to get towels etc

When we were there, in-app chat function wasn't helpful. I don't think they were located at the hotel. I asked about pools at All-Star resort when were there, and they didn't mention that we could use the Calypso Pool at Music. The DISboards let me know about this option after we got home from our trip.

I've used it several times to request more towels and coffee supplies at PoP most recently in May. I think the chat option isn't there until after you check-in. I generally use the chat after I've tried calling and no one answers on the first try or when I realize I forgot to call and I'm out and about.
