My wife and I have been looking into the two Chase options for Disney fans. They have the Debit card and Credit card options, we went with the Debit card option. Does anyone on the boards have the Debit card? Have you had any issues with it, glad that you got it? Please let me know thanks!!

The debit card used to offer Disney Dream Dollars on your purchases but now it's nothing more than a debit card with a cute logo. You do get some of the perks that the credit card offers, such as the character meet & greet and shopping discounts when using the card. But there are no rewards for using the card and no 6-months interest-free on packages.

I curious as to why you didn't get the no-fee credit card instead?

I have both the credit card & the debit card.

I am not sure what issues you might run into. It is simply replaces the debit card attached to your checking account.

We discussed the credit vs debit, however we decided that the debit for at least now was the best for us. I know you don't get points or anything like that. Just trying it out might change at some point.

You are much better off getting the credit card and getting a $200 sign up bonus, plus 1% back on purchases. Why not get both? If you don't trust yourself with a credit card, that's a different story, but Chase will link your checking and cc to the same log-in automatically. You spend the $500 on the Visa in 3 months, paying it off as you go with the checking account. You will end up with $205 in Disney Dream Rewards Dollars ($200 bonus plus $5 for the $500 in spending.) You can then ignore the credit card, close it, or use both the credit card and the debit card at the Parks for two photos per day.
You can even double your bonus if each of you applies for your own credit card and hits the spending threshold.

Chase charges $12 a month for checking if you don't do a $500 direct deposit or keep $1500 balance at all times, I believe. At least buy a coupon for $125-$200 checking account sign up bonus on ebay!

The pp who said it is just a debit card with a cute logo is correct - I would never start a banking relationship without getting a substantial bonus for it and making sure I will never pay an account fee. If you just want free checking, Cap1 is great and you can open pretty much as many free savings accounts with them as you like. Again, get the bonus! :rotfl:

We don't use credit cards at all, the debit card works really well for us. I was able to use it to book the fd for the fall early and I get the card holder discount on purchases and meet and greets. It is no big deal to us that we don't get the points.

We have had a relationship with Chase for sometime and enjoy their services. We just switched to the Disney card after being with them for three years. I have a Chase credit card that I might look into switching to the Disney one. Thanks for all the good info!!!

I love my Chase Disney, mostly because it's cute. I get much better rewards with my Chase Freedom and AmEx Cash.

I use Capital One for rewards. 1.25% on the no fee card. I usually get gift cards back, unfortunately, they don't have Disney cards :( and you can only redeem points for travel if you have enough points to cover one transaction. Still a pretty good deal given that we pay off in full and don't pay any interest.
