You can pay for your cruise directly with Disney with your Disney rewards card points (once transferred to a rewards redemption card as mentioned). You can also pay with your rewards cards with some travel agents, not all. If a travel agency makes direct payments to DCL with your card it will work. Some agencies accept a customer's payment and then deposits that payment in their account and then sends an agency check to the cruise line. In that scenario you would not be able to use your rewards card points as payment.
We have points on a card that we want to use for on-board purchases for our cruise in a couple of weeks.
Do we go to Guest Services to have them applied? Or, can we call DCL ahead of time and have the points applied?

After the points have been transferred to a redemption card, you can do either. I usually DCL call ahead of time just so I don't have to fool with it while on the ship. It shows up as a credit to our onboard account.

We already have the redemption card. That is what I am thinking will be best - to call ahead. Just wanted to make sure that it was possible to do it that way. It will be one less thing to remember to do 1st day!
