Chase Credit Cards

Hello! We have the Disney Chase Visa card and have been using it for daily spending for a while. I've saved up almost $2000 in rewards for our October trip. However, I'm realizing there are better rewards cards out there, and where we won't be limited to just Disney. We've been happy with Chase, so I'm considering the Chase Freedom Unlimited or the Chase Freedom card.

1) Right now, my husband and I are both listed on the Disney visa. We've had it for 5+ years. If we decide to do one of the other Chase cards, can he open one account and I open another account, and we both get the sign up bonus offer (as long as we don't add the other person as an authorized user)?

2) For anyone with the standard Chase Freedom card with rotating categories, what type of categories do they generally have for the 5% back?

#1 - yes. But one of you should apply for the card, get approved and then send referral link to the other so both of you can get rewarded on the second card.
#2 - dining, gas are the ones I remember. But I don’t use many of the 5% cash back categories.

i have a Disney Visa and only use it to provide referral codes to. i probably should get a better card than Chase Freedom but I’m too lazy....lol.

i believe the chase freedom has a $150 referral code. So use someone’s code to apply for one and then once approved and you’ve met the requirements, have the new card owner refer the spouse.

Other categories they have had 5% on in previous years are groceries, Paypal (that was great at Christmas time), warehouse stores like Costco, drugstores, home improvement stores, departement stores, cable and streaming services. it's hard to predict what will be next.
