I heard of the 5 crds in 2 yrs rule from chase- but is that only there cards? I am getting ready to cosign for my son for a first car to build some credit and want to know if that will affect me with Chase.

I opened a CSP and freedom about 8 mon ago. I had planned on opening a Marriott acct soon and next yr a southwest. We have travel plans for then-hoping Dh and I can do the companion pass then.

Also, any advantage between Marriott Bus and Marriot premier? We have a bus and I have a very good fico score. Also-can I get both at 1 time with 1 hard pull on my credit? Idid that with the CSP and preferred.

Thanks for any input and advice!

Chase's 5/24 rule takes all new account into consideration.

The rule is you will be denied if you have signed up for 5 new credit cards in the last 24 months. Co-signing a car loan isn't a new credit card so you should be good there. And yes, as PP said they count credit cards issued by all banks.

Also, they count authorized user cards. If you show up as an AU on a credit card your husband or son take out in the next 2 years the computer system at Chase will count that toward your 5/24 and deny you. You can call and ask Chase to "reconsider" you and take the AU out of consideration but it's an annoying and time consuming process (some reps will re-consider, others won't and then you have to hang up and call again). CSP + Freedom + Marriott + Southwest = 4 leaving you room for one more at the end so you should be fine.

FWIW data here http://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase...tail-need-know/#What_Cards_Aren8217t_Affected says Marriott business preferred isn't affected by 5/24- meaning you could have 5 credit cards and still get the MBP. Very YMMV IMHO but still, info to look into. (Also lots of other Chase Credit Card info has been compiled on that page if you're interested.) Note MBP would still count towards your 5/24 so if you're worried about hitting your card limit considering making that the last card you apply since it's application is not affected. Obviously all this can change anytime but this is what the data points are saying right now.
