Charlie & the Chocolate factory

If you haven't seen this, go. It is wonderful. It has a strange side to it, but I was laughing through most of the movie. It was fantastic. I loved the original when I was growing up, and have to say that this one is quite close. It obviously has a slightly different ending, but I loved it!

Anyone else seen it?

We were thinking about seeing this today but ended up renting movies instead.

I loved the original so much too, that I didn't really want to see the new version. But the reviews have been good. I'll take my girls to see it some time next week.

We just took the kids to the drive in to see it and the whole family loved it what a great movie much better than that Harry Potter garbage.

There was a pic in the newspaper this weekend ... Johnny Depp in those big glasses looked way too much like Michael Jackson. It seemed a little creepy to me. I do love the original though ... kids and I just watched it last weekend.

DW tried to talk DD4 and DS6 into going but they both didn't want to go. They must have found the trailers on television a little creepy because they've seen the original version on DVD several times and liked it very much.

The kids voted, instead, to go see March of the Penguins. What an amazing movie, though it is more the type of movie that you would expect to see on the IMAX screen at the science centre or Ontario Place cinesphere

This movie totally rocks. I must say, the trailers made me think twice about seeing it though. I love Jonny Depp, but I did think the trailers were creepy and Michael Jackson like. However, once I saw the movie, Depp is NOTHING like Jackson. I think Depp is the most talented actor out there and even though I loved the original, this version is fantastic!!

I read the book and saw the movie as a child. Loved it.
I recently showed the older version to my DS5 and he was not as impressed as I was with certain scenes. I guess some of the effects look a little fake to today's kids due to all the high-tech stuff. I can't wait to see the newer version.

Saw it tonite, what a great movie. I was a little skeptical as a friend did not like it at all (she fell asleep!) but I thought it was so funny and Johnny Depp, what an accomplished actor. I kept trying to "see" Jack Sparrow but couldn't, he was so totally Willy Wonka.

Specially liked the 2001 Space Odyssey bit which was hard to explain to my 17 yr old DD who hadn't a clue why some of the older members of the audience were laughing.

Worth seeing!!!

Garbage? Sniff Sniff. I guess the books are a little better than the movies...

I think Tim Burton and Johhny Depp make amazing movies together! It was fabulous!

We really liked Charlie! some unusual things but overall Depp is great. I love Harry Potter though but I don't think you can compare the two. HP is very complex.

I LOVED this movie!

And Depp delivers the one thing that's been missing from the summer blockbusters - a magical performance. In Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, Batman Begins, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and War of the Worlds, we've seen the action heroes come and go. But they all seem unnaturally cranked, as if to make their acting heard above the barrage of special effects. Their arch-enemy is the movie itself.

To me, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the summer movie we've been waiting for, a storybook fantasy with the power to amaze both children and adults.

I like the fact that Depp is an actor and does not tell people his views on depression and anti-depressents or post partum etc! LOL!

Batman Begins was sensational! I hated the other Batman movies but his was great acting by all.
Pure magic! Isn't that why we love Disney? I can't wait to see the other "Pirates" movies that Depp is making. AND Keith Richards is in it too as his dad.

The only thing that bothered me was the one trailer we saw before it ~ The Corpse Bride" by Tim Burton ~ I thought it was totally inappropriate for the amount of young children present....Did anyone else feel that way?

The kids now want to see King Kong as soon as it's released!
