Help - I am a bit of a mother hen when it comes to what my daughters read.

I bought my almost 10-year-old the Charlie St Cloud book today and she started reading it before I had a chance to read it. This is the first time she has read a book without me reading it first or knowing from my friends that it age appropriate.

Don't think I can pull an all-nighter to make sure it is something she should be reading.

If anybody has read it - please let me know your thoughts. She has read all the Pearcy Jackson books - so mythology and afterlife type stuff would not be too freaky to her.

I've not read it, but I've read several reviews. It is a tear-jerker. It deals with the death of a child and how his sibling deals with it. From the synopsis, it reminds me of Mick Harte was Here. I cried reading that book.

OP, I guess it depends on how sensitive your daughter is. Many schools are recommending the book for middle school readers.

Oh my goodness, that book made me sob.:guilty:

I think she will be okay with death if it is in a fantasy way. I have concerns if it is very realistic.

I was more concerned about adult/older teen type content. Think Judy Blume's Forever.
