Has anyone done this drive? I read it is about 2 hours. Is it a scenic drive with stops along the way, or just highway?

Trying to plan a trip to MB, but not sure what airport to fly into. Some are closer but seem like smaller airports with not a lot of flights, so thinking of flying into and doing a night in Charleston then heading to MB the next day.

It's highway 17. Somewhat scenic, but it runs a bit inland and not right along he water. It runs through a few scenic towns like Georgetown and Pawley's Island, but I've never stopped. It's not a bad drive.

We live 4 hrs from Myrtle and 5 from Charleston, so we don't fly. The airport for Charleston is north of the city, while the Myrtle airport is in the southern part of town. I wouldn't consider any other airports. Wilmington isn't far, but I can't imagine it being any cheaper than Charleston or Myrtle.

I looked at Wilimington and Florence sc, but honestly I thought a night in Charleston may be nice, plus the flights were cheaper. I just wasn't sure about the drive. Thanks for the info.

It isn't a bad drive at all. The worst part for traffic will be the around the Charleston area (I-26 to 17) , and then again as you get into the Pawleys Island/Murrells Inlet/Myrtle Beach area. After you leave the Mt. Pleasant area, it will be mostly light traffic with a divided highway. It isn't scenic unless you like looking at a good bit of swampy marshland.

Georgetown is a cute little town with some good restaurants.

Do you know where you are planning on staying in Myrtle (north or south, etc)

There's a ton of stuff to do between Charleston and Myrtle Beach.

1. Plantations, Hampton and Hopsewee are two.
2. McClellanville is a wonderful fishing village right off Hwy17. Great restaurant there called T.W. Graham & Co. Seafood.
3. If you have time and can catch the ferry, going out to Bull island for a few hours.
4. Hobcaw Barony at Belle Baruch.
5. Island Shops at Pawleys Island.
6. Georgetown Riverfront walk.
7. Huntington Beach State Park
8. Brookgreen Gardens
9. Murrells Inlet and the Marshwalk
10. My favorite place to enjoy watching the tide rise and fall on the inlet, the Dead Dog Saloon

It is about 2 hours from Charleston to the south end of Myrtle Beach. If you are staying in North Myrtle or Cherry Grove area you will need to add another 30 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic.

All of these places can be googled for info. Also can check out on Tripadvisor.
I know I haven't listed all of the things to do, but to answer you question, there's lots to see along the way.
