Charles de Gaulle to Marriott

Hello!

We are staying at the Marriott's Village d'Ile-de-France. Can someone please give us ideas on how to get from Charles de Gaulle airport to the hotel?

We think a train, shuttle or bus would be the easiest. I know there is a shuttle from the airport to one of the Disney hotels, but would they go near the Marriott? We will have my 6 year old son with us, so a long walk will not be too feasible.

Thanks SO much!
Karen

so glad you posted this karen! we are going to be in the same boat. we are not planning to rent a car.

I'm sure a few of the regulars will post in later to help :goodvibes

We're planning on staying at the Marriott in the summer. I'm pretty sure that if you get either the VEA (Disney Bus) or TGV (high speed train) to the train station at Disney, you can change there for the free shuttle bus to the marriott. You may have to wait a bit for the transfer to the shuttle bus as I've heard they are infrequent. Though if you're in a hurry a taxi from the Disney train station to the Marriott would cost little and there are normally some waiting outside the station.

I agree with the above.

The TGV train would be the fastest (about 10 minutes is all). The cost varies, but on a recent trip I paid about 23 euros.
Other options include the VEA bus, or the RER train (into Paris, then change to another train back to DLP).

The bus area is adjacent to the train station at DLP. The free shuttle bus to the Marriott (it also goes to the Radisson) is #57. It's not real frequent so you may have a wait. (I arrived at about 1:30, and there was a 2pm bus, so that wasn't bad. The next bus would have been about 4pm).
There is also a city bus (#34 I think) that goes by the entrance to the Marriott resort and costs 1.40 euros. However if you've never been there before, you might not know when to get off the bus. The other option from the train station would be a taxi.

:goodvibes I've been twice and rather than have the split journey with TGV or VEA and then shuttle/ Taxi (about 15€ from bus/train station to resort) we've always gone for a private shuttle BS transport both times. I'd recommend doing the same.

for anyone with smaller children, I recommend Angela's suggestion. For older children or those with only adults, the TGV to shuttle combo will work. HOWEVER note that if your flight does not land in T-2 at CDG, it requires a shuttle bus to T-2, then the TGV, then the bus.

So check where your flight lands, and factor that into the equation.

Also, in reference to my comment on CDG terminals in the above post -

We are seeing more travellers from America going to DLRP, perhaps due to the DCL European cruise and/or Adventures by Disney.

United and US Airways use T-1 most of the time at CDG, as do my Lufthansa flights. It is important to check this, as I am sure that it would be challenging for those landing in France for the first time who don't have knowledge of the language to even find the shuttle bus to T-2....

thanks for the ideas everyone... but frankly it seems im still pretty confused on which route i should take...

would it be easier just to take a taxi from the airport straight to marriott? or would this be much more expensive?

never travelled to paris before and i think we ARE going to be on US Airways...

you'll probably land in T-1. You will clear customs and get your luggage (sorry, I don't know how long customs/immigration takes for Americans)

Then you would go down to the shuttle bus to take it to T-2. Then go into the TGV (train) station and go down to the platform after collecting your tickets. Then after a 10 min trip exit the train station at DLRP and cross to the bus. Easy if you have no small children and have done it before, or speak the language.

Not so easy if you don't speak the language, have lots of luggage, or are not used to the European train system.

I would NOT take a taxi - I would check one of the transport companies like RS transport (Whoops ! edited as I had that name very wrong!) on the sticky here.

Or you could take a navette (shuttle bus) 45 min to DLRP and take the bus to the Marriott from there.

It is a case of cost vs convenience for a first time to Paris traveller

thanks so much everyone for the info. We'll be staying at the Marriott in July and were trying to figure out what the best way was to get there. Another question, we will be having 4 adults and 4 kids (ages 5 - 8) going from CDG to the Marriott, so it seems like it might be best to use a shuttle. I looked up RS transport, but it was all in French. Does anybody know who I can contact that speaks English? It doesn't have to be RS, it can be another shuttle company. Thanks for everything!:goodvibes

Look HERE. For 8 people it is €110 each way.

Thank you so much Happy Tappy! You've made my life a lot easier with that link! I think that is the route we will be taking.:)
