But why would it hurt feelings??? That's what I don't understand. Unless you are someone who has nothing, is another $12.99 sweater, Christmas knick-knack, bottle of wine or candle that important to you????

I really don't understand.... :confused3

Well, it wouldn't hurt my feelings, but I can see how it might blindside someone who wasn't expecting it, especially if she had gone to a lot of effort to buy a nice trinket for me. She may feel like the rules were changed, sorta. Gifts shouldn't be a test of friendship but sometimes people can be very sensitive about them.

Well then I'd do the Homemade Treats routine.,,or the Gift Basket routine. What is their hobby/likes? Do a basket of Bath goodies, or a basket of snacks or cheeses, etc. Or if they garden, a trowel and a selection of Spring Bulbs(Tulips, hyacinths, daffodils)

We are doing this with many of the other relatives but I swear these 2 are so snobby! She never cooks anymore they usually eat the microwave Healthy Choice meals. Her only hobbies are walking and laying in her own tanning bed. His hobby in the winter is puzzles. Last time we bought him a puzzle she immediately said they'd have to save it for the following years spring break vacation because he already had new puzzles from her daughter for that winter and spring break vacation. Her daughter being grown and out of college while my son that picked the puzzle was 10.

I truely don't think anything we can afford will make them happy. And since they put so little value in family and have "Christmas" in February it'll be DHs problem to solve. But I think I'll suggest to him a charitable donation. I won't be there when they are given the gift and truely for myself I don't care what they think. I'm just trying to come up with something because I want my youngest son to be able to give them some sort of gift.
