I'd like to be able to charge purchases to our room while renting at a DVC. I understand there could be some problems doing this. I don't want anything to end up on our "host's" tab!

Can this be done? When I check in, do I tell the staff at the counter to place room charges to a different CC than what is associated with the Member that reserved the room? Seems simple enough, but I've read about a few 'oops'!

Thanks!

There is no CC associated with member reservations. They will ask you at check-in if you want to place a CC on the room for charging. The only way it would go back to the member is if your CC was not valid when the charge is going to be applied.

There isn't a credit card belonging to the member associated with the room. It's just that if there is a problem with the renter's credit card, they will come after the member by blocking their use of the points. That's why many members in their rental agreement do not allow room charging. Check into your agreement or with your member to see if it's allowed, or maybe they will be willing to do it with an additional security deposit.

I'd have to know the person to agree to this.

Like it or not, there is no way for the owner to enforce this. The CM at check in will always room charging if the guest provides a valid credit card. The owner will not even know about it.

I've not heard of any owners charging a "security deposit" for a DVC rental. Can't believe there are many who do.
