I am not sure where the best place to post this is so please move it if necessary.

I have read snippets on different places on these boards regarding setting up your room key for charging. I have not been able to find details about this so I have lots of questions. Please indulge me!

We will be using the Dream Maker Pkg. at All Stars Movies with the UPH.

We prefer to carry a minimum of cash and credit cards and would love to be able to just charge stuff on the room key everywhere we go. We are planning on eating mostly at counter service restaurants and doing a little shopping in the parks and more at DTD.
Is it possible to charge on the room at most of these places?
How do you set this up?
My mother's name will be the one on the reservation but we will have our own room--will this be a problem?
Do we have to specify a specific charge limit, or can we just give the hotel our CC number?
Is their an additional charge for this "service"?
Is this "easy" to do or is there a possibility for confusion, depending on where we try to charge things?
Can this be linked for both adult's room cards but not the children's?

Thanks!

You can charge to your room at all WDW places except The Swan and Dolphin and food carts

They set it up when you check in at registration

It won't be a problem even though it's in your mothers name

There is normally a limit which they charge to your credit card everytime you get to it and then start the balance again - so you have to give your credit card details to them on check in for them to set this facility up but itis at no extra charge

It's easy - infact too easy, if you know what I mean ;-)

The children's cards can have that facility knocked off theirs.

Hope all this helps

We've done it before, and it makes things so much easier! You can even charge stuff in Downtown disney.

How do they determine how much you can charge? I have a paypal account with a debit card that I intend to use for charging privleges. Can they use a debit card (it has the mastercard logo) or would I have to use a normal charge card?
Thanks:D

When we were there in Dec 2002, it was the first time that we had ever encountered the "charge limit" thing. They used to just bill on the last day for everything. Now, they stop at $1000 and when you hit your limit you have to call the resort, tell them it's ok to bill the amount, which they do on the phone and then tell whereever you are trying to use the card that it is ok to run again. We found this to be a pain, one time we hit the mark at a the food place in tomorrowland (used to be tomorrowland terrace) and they had no phone to call (luckily we had enough cash). I don't mind the $1000 limit at all (understand they are trying to limit their liability), but just bill it when it gets there (like they do on the cruise line at $500).

Hopefully, when we go next winter, they will have a more automatic system, or at least allow you to set it up so they can automatically bill when you hit the limit and prevent the phone call thing. It was a new system at the time and a lot of the employees didn't know what was up because their registers just said their was an error with the card and not what the deal was (luckily the first time it happened to us, the CM knew, so when it happened again, we knew what to tell them).

Has anyone been since? Have they changed it so they bill automatically yet?
