Sorry if this is posted elsewhere, but have any of you heard about charging $95 for use of DME?

No, I have 2 trips booked one in Sept and one in December and the service is still free.

Where have you heard this? It's still free as stated on Disney's website. $95 would be excessive and most would not pay that much.

I looked on Disneygo.com and they site still has the DME listed as being free.:confused3

I think maybe you might be asking about the $95 resort fee charged to timeshare exchange owners (i.e. through RCI to DVC)? On another timeshare site it shows:
RCI to DVC
A US $95.00 Resort Fee per unit per stay will be billed upon check-in. The Fee includes shuttle service provided by Disney Magical Express, Extended Park Visitation hours on select days and transportation throughout Disney Resorts. Fee also covers other services including advance dining reservations, assistance with optional Disney Dining Plan, Tee times and delivery of any purchases made at Disney directly to your resort.

Are you an RCI owner exchanging over to DVC for your stay (sorry if my terminology is incorrect - I'm not a timeshare owner, but I think I get the general idea ). If not, this charge will not apply to you. If so, then the $95 is considered a "resort fee" and apparently you do have to pay it. :goodvibes

This sounds like an RCI exchange to me as well.

If you are renting this from someone, a friendly warning. RCI members are specifically forbidden from renting the exchanges they obtain. Of course, that doesn't mean it never happens, but if RCI (or DVC) get wind of it, the exhcange can be cancelled, the member's account suspended, etc. This has actually happened to people who have reported the experience on TUG and TS4M, two timeshare discussion boards.

So, tread carefully.

I will be staying at SSR 7/24-31. When I arrive, I will pay a $95 resort fee. I exchanged a week I had deposited with RCI for a week at a DVC resort.

So my brother can't give us a week through RCI? He has to be present? We wouldn't be paying him for it... AAACK  Where can I find out more about these rules? I asked him to scan his membership to find out and he couldn't find anything................ We have used one of his time shares several times, Never at Disney though.

He might be able to give you a guest gift certificate. I know it is true of other RCI exchanges. The cost for this "added" certificate is 59$. You will still have to pay the 95$ WDW convenience fee for exchanging IN.

Thanks! He is going to get on the phone tomorrow and see if he is looking in vain for me of if we might be able to stay on site for the 1st time in... oh... say 20 years.... :goodvibes (haven't even left for this years vacation and I'm planning the next)

You are able to give guest certificates to relatives and friends. I have done it a number of times. No problem.

Right, he can *give* it to you. He can even recover the cost of the exchange fee and guest certificate (about $230, give or take), but per the RCI rules he can't take anything more for it. Of course, family members sometimes make private deals amongst one another, and RCI needn't be involved in all of the details....

You would still owe Disney the $95 when you check in.
