I did a small BLT add-on last week. (Well actually it's on hold until my guide calls back & adds 4 more points)

Anyway, I just called Chase to find out what portion of my current card balance qualifies for the 0% for 6 months.

I don't know how thay did itin MS, but Chase said that $2,492.06 was not due until 7/16 - even though my add-on was under $6,000.00

I thought only 10% was going to qualif, well I'm glad I didn't know or I would have bought more.

The interest on up to $2500 is deferred for 6 months. You still need to make payments on the principle.

I know what the "rules" regarding this say but when disney does 2 separate charges , you more than the 10% interest free, I did 100 point add on and it was charges as 2 seprate charges the 10 percent and then the remainder and then they both qualified don't know why but they did.

When you get your statement there should be a section where they itemize the special repayment programs, their terms, and the purchases that are eligible.

Is this only when it's the only charge on the card? I only use one credit card, and it's my Disney Visa reward card. I pay it off every month in full, no matter what i use it for, however when i had asked about this 6 month promotion at 0% for buying dvc points, Chase told me that if there is anything else on the card besides the points at 0%, whatever payment I send in (i.e. $1000 on card for other charges, $3000 on card for points add on = $4000), such as paying off the $1000 at the end of the month, that $1000 check I send in would go to the lowest interest rate charges on the card, so it would go toward the $3000 at 0% as opposed to the $1000 at 9.99%, thereby accruing interest on the $1000. Am I making any sense? Anyway, I will only put an add on on this credit card just after paying off all other charges at the end of the month, and then I'd have to use another card for daily purchases until the add on was paid off (before the 6 month promotion ends), and than I wouldn't be getting any rewards points on my daily purchases, so I'm not so sure it makes sense to use the chase disney rewards card, as opposed to just paying up front for the points....:confused3

Well we'll see what happens. When we 1st open the account we used it on a Disney vacation pkg. that was 1% for 6 mos. I paud everything but that for 4 months until I got my tax refund & we were never charged interest.

Before th add-on I called Chase, DVC MS, & my guide none new the answer. (my guide said "they would know what to do in accounting").

We were planning on paying in full anyway, I just thought maybe someone else might like to know. Since one of our tenants will be 10 days late this month, it's a lucky break.

I don't believe that is correct. Your $1,000 should go towards the $1000 charges, and the $3000 for points add-on will continue to be interest free until the end of the 6th month billing cycle. I charged two of our previous disney world vacation and also our dvc, and I have continued using our card for everything else, and my payment has always gone towards my other purchases. I take the balance on my card, and subtract my disney 0% balance and pay that each month. I pay off the balance on the 0% financing at the end of the 6 month period to avoid the interest.

Thank you for the information, but I am afraid to even give this a try, because of what the chase rep told me, and that was that any payment made would apply first to the lowest interest rate charges. I'll call them again, see if i get a different answer, hopefully i will. thanks again

Here's what I think: Chase doesn't bother to find out what your total purchase price was, to figure out what 10% is. They just put any charge under $2500 in the interest free offer category. After asking around a lot, I still didn't do it right. I did a 100 point BLT add-on, so my down-payment was $1120. But they took the $500 incentive off the top of that, so my down payment was charged to my Disney VISA as $620. That came interest-free. But then when I charged the other 90%, it was $10,080, and did not qualify. But I should have got the full 10% interest-free, another $500. I'm not going to fight it, but next time (VGC) I'm going to put down a down $2400 and see what happens.

we charged a cruise downpayment, then called back and added my sister to the cruise -both charges came up interest free 6 months just paid it off this month-the 6 mths was up
I pay my balance off each month.
During the holidays I messed up, I had a credit for $5, I over paid my bill my that amount $5, the credit went to the cruise.
The next month I paid the balance minus the cruise, on paper I wrote amount due minus cruise amount (not seeing, missing the credit to the cruise the month before) I shorted my due amount $5. Got a finance charge for the WHOLE amount.
I called disney they explained to me what happened, since was a charter card holder gave me a one time reversal of the charges, but I did have to send in the money for the finance fee, they then put it against the cruise amount.
So do check the last page of your statement keep track of AMOUNT DUE.
I also during the same time frame added an add on to DVC
It is also 6 mths interest free. Now I had 3 different interest free amount I was tracking.
Disney has yet to charge us the rest of the amount due for the add on. They were to divide it between two months with the lesser amount due right away on the second month cycle due. But last month they did not charge us the rest of the money. I get my statement soon. I'm hoping like some of you they give us the second charge 6 months free also. Or (just kidding) pixiedust: I just get it as -What are you celebrating?!

I just added on too $17,160 worth. I put it half on my Disney Visa and Half on my DH. The whole thing is 0% interest until 7-10-09 :confused3

I only thought it was 10%, but I called and the girl told me that ALL Disney trips and DVC purchases were 0% for 6 months. My card statement reads:

Qualified promo trans $496 expiration date 6-10-09 (that was 1/2 the deposit)
Qualified promo trans $496 expiration date 6-10-09 (the other half)
Qualified promo trans $400 expiration date 7-10-09
Qualified promo trans $7664 expiration date 7-10-09

when the bill came in I paid the bill minus the above charges.

On my DH card - its the same thing, however, you still have to pay the min due.

I don't know how I got it But heck I'll take it!!

And I got 170 reward $$$$$ too!!!

That's nice! My final payment didn't come out on the promotional purchases part. Maybe I'll call.

Tell me, do you and your DH have two different Disney Visa accounts? Or just two cards on the same account?

With Chase Disney Visa, any payments you send in go toward whatever is currently at the lowest interest rate.

So if you have a balance at 0% for say $3000, buy something for $100, and your statement comes, and you pay $100, you now have $2900 at 0% and $100 at whatever your rate is.

This is standard in the credit card business.

It's why if you are doing one of these 0% deals, you should not put anything else on the card if you can avoid it, until the thing is paid off.

Disney Visa is well known for offering "convenience checks" at low rates. Late last year, I borrowed $9000 for about 8 months at 0%.

We have 2 different accounts. I don't know how mine came out that way because I thought it was only the 1st $2500 too.

I have done my original contract, an add on, several payments on an Adventures by Dsiney vacation, and they all qualified, I don't know why your 10,000 charge didn't. I don't use the interest rate I just use the card so that I earn the Rewards Dollars as I pay the entire bill each month.

I use my Disney Visa for everything.
In the past, I would go ahead and book a Disney trip and get the no payments/no interest for 6 months. I would pay my current purchases off plus some towards the trip. After 6 months, everything is paid for.

Never paid a cent of interest.
My new purchases would get paid off and I would see that my Disney trip's deferment balance would go down by the amount I paid extra.

I am well aware that many cards do the "payments go toward lowest interest balance first" trick, but I have not seen it yet using my Disney Visa for trips.

I think that's correct; Disney trips/DVC purchases may be exempt from the "lowest interest balance gets paid first."

Sorry for the imprecision.

This is not true. I did not pay the $620 down payment last month (but paid the rest of the bill), and it did not accrue interest (I had no finance charge at all). It's still listed in the "promotional" part of the statement. I am sure that this is true a lot of the time, but for this particular offer, you can charge in the meantime and still not pay finance charges.

Meghan

Read the part on your statement where it talks about promotional balances. You will see that you can pay off other charges while keeping the 0% balances separate. I am currently doing this now!

You are absolutely correct, to the lowest interest rate. Those promos are only good if you have a zero balance card and plan to NOT use it at all for anything until the promo loan is paid off.
