We planning on renting a scooter from Randy's mobility, I've done a search on here and a lady said she got a pacesaver passport one, she mentioned it folded down to fit into the car.

What about charging the battery, were staying in an apartment and have requested high floor (it has 3 floors, they don't have lifts), can you separate the batteries to charge or will we have to get the scooter out of the car and put it together and take it into the apartment to charge it, it's for my mum she can't walk around all day, if you have to charge it set up we will request a ground floor, as I don't think dh will want to carry it up and down stairs twice a day (not that I think he would be able to).

Thank you, please can you give me as much advice about these scooters as you know.

Depending on your level of dexterity, the batteries can be removed from the ECV to charge them, I understand, although I cannot see how it's done, as the cord plugs into the back of the ECV for charging.

The answer is "probably no".

Most ECVs have a three pin connector from the charger. There is internal circuitry to split to both batteries and to prevent overcharging. This is normal as the ECV uses two separate batteries.

Some ECVs, such as the Pride Go-Go series which use smaller batteries, have a removeable battery pack which includes both batteries and has the jack on the battery pack itself.

Prior to my getting my current ECV my DME shop made a special cable for me whcih allowed me to charge the batteries outside of the ECV, but it cost about $40 for that special cable (and this was a few years ago).

Note on the standard size ECVs the batteries weigh 25 pounds each. And the rest of the ECV weighs in the 125 to 150 pound range.

Thank you both for your help. Were having one delivered on friday from Randy's.

Your best bet is to call Randy's back and ask them your question, since they know their equipment. But I have rented from him several times with several different models and I don't think any of them could be charged independent of the entire scooter.
